Be careful during mid stroke bypass test not to apply pressure from piston side with rod outlet blocked! This will cause pressure amplification by rod-piston ratio and can damage the cylinder if you exceed rated pressure.
I am Rajiv from India , Kerala . This video as well as the video for Repair of Vane pump , have been of immense help for me . I am grateful for them . Thank you very much .
Mid stroke testing is wrong. If the port is blocked , and the cylinder is full of oil, the rod wont move even if the piston seals are removed. For mid stroke testing, the piston rod has to be physically restrained in a frame in the mid stroke position and pressure applied. If oil continues to comes out from one end , the cylinder or piston has a issue.
Good video on hydraulic cylinder testing. Thank you for posting such good instructive content !

CTP, great video thanks! What hydraulic test bench unit are you using in this video? Looks perfect for our machine shop. Thanks!
Hello Logan. The hydraulic testing unit being used was custom manufactured for our CTP lab.
@@CostexTractorParts can it be purchased !?
Oil? Or air?
How do you check or bleed out air?
You move rod in and out for about 5 times at around 1000psi

Thank you for your comment!
Not sure that using your fingers to check for a hydraulic leak is a good idea. Good way to lose a finger
