Extreme Mudlarking with Nicola White & A Find of a Lifetime for Mud Lover

- Join me as I finally get to go out with the Hovercraft History Hunters (@hovercrafthistoryhunters on instagram) and the British Hovercraft company (@britishhovercraft on instagram) - and go hovering over mud and water, searching for history with some of the friendliest and best mud buddies I know, including muddy buddy @Si-finds Thames Mudlark
Im so happy to have been on this outing with @Si-finds Thames Mudlark (henceforth to be known as Simonus LuckintheMudicus) as he finds one of his best ever mudlarking finds.

Fantastic find - two seperate Roman pots within meters ( I presume) from each other; what are the chances after 2000 years. They must be priceless.
I have to admit tears came to my eyes when Simon extracted that Roman pot. It's so beautiful well done Simon.❤🇮🇪

I don't think I have ever had so much fun watching a video before! Nicola and Simon together are the best and put that with the excitement of the Hovercraft History Hunters - what could be better? You piloted that hovercraft like a pro and you definitely were Simon's good luck charm for sure! Some nice finds yourself and of course the Queen of Pipes couldn't come away without some great pipe fragments as well. Such fun and so interesting - really enjoyed it!

I also hope you can overcome your anxiety and venture out to mudlark. I find that mudlarking actually helps anxiety as I am very much in the moment when I am searching. Almost like meditation. Anxiety is simply a bad habit of thought (I tell you as someone who lost years of my life to it- such a waste 😖)
Don’t let it steal one more moment of your LIFE- if you truly want to be rid of it- understand that the ONLY thing you truly have control is what you allow to go on in your mind.

I wondered why so many people passed up on the bricks. I've always thought a cute wall made out of all those ancient bricks or even a barbecue made out of them would be really an eye catcher.
When I see a brick close to home I bring one back. Landscapermade a tiny walk out(3x3 feet) in my yard. Sadly he put the makers marks down!
suedefringe he probably didn't want someone twisting an ankle if the makers mark was in the frog of the brick ( the indent). I put some in my paving but the writing was on a flat face and they seem to capture a bit of interest from visitors 👍😀

My garden is edged with the bricks I salvaged from the Capitol Records Factory, West Side Theatre and ,sadly ,my beautiful nearby Grammar School. I love the connection.

I graduated from the University of Colorado, whose mascot is the buffalo, 40 years ago. So it occurred to me that, while I'm not royal, I'm definitely an antediluvian buffalo! Thanks for the videos, I love to watch them.

I was metal detecting on the mainland and saw these 3 hovercraft take off (do hovercraft take off?!) yesterday, Saturday 19th Sept. little did I know who was on board.
They were very noisy!
Probably not all of them as this was filmed awhile back. But maybe some of them.

Loved the video Nicola - I laughed at the big grin and sparkle in your eyes as you drove the Hovercraft. I just got home from the emergency room after a home accident (on antibiotics and on the mend ) and this video was wonderful to watch and get my mind on getting out to do some metal detecting soon once my leg heals up - Nothing like being out in the sun and near water to brighten the day and bring a smile while exploring the past.
For a moment I thought i was watching an episode of Charlie’s Angels. Great stuff!

Where does one "park" a hovercraft when it's not in use? Garage? Some kind of rented space? Closed trailer (which then has to be parked somewhere)? Another beautiful video Nicola - thank you! Cheers from Seattle (where we still have to mask & social distance - you lucky Londoners!) 🖐😷❤

I checked out the hovercraft website. Not cheap but they offer DIY kits.
