To be honest with what he has faced before I really doubt that much projectiles that the Smash roster posses would actually damage him outside of game mechanics
This video is displaying projectiles' speed against Sonic, and some of them are so slow that Sonic doesn't need to run.

I like how this little experiment is actually very relevant to the meta game and competitive play.
Sonic out running most projectiles in the game helps illustrate how difficult he is to hit and how his raw speed serves as a great defensive tool by virtue of being able to avoid almost any attack.

Each pikmin has a unique throw arc I believe I don’t know the difference between the red and blue ones but white goes far purple doesn’t go far and yellow is high arching

Informative video and I liked it, a quick clarification that I noticed though: Joker's gun isn't a projectile, it's just a reaaally long hitbox, it's instant to come out once fired which is why it's faster.
Neither are Bayo's bullet arts or Ike's eruption
So then that means that Joker’s gun didn’t count since Sonic dodged his other attack as well.
Same goes for other moves like Zelda’s down special. And then Mario’s fludd and squirtles water gun are wind boxes not projectiles
Zelda down b can be reflected, so it does count as a projectile

Sonic did a lot better than the results suggest, since he gave a lot of users time to charge. If he started running when they started charging, he'd have won a lot more.
I"d also suggest if you redo this you also try the Belmont whip if you're doing non-projectiles.

The rules were that he can move once the projectile starts MOVING, though

man really did greninja dirty... uncharged water shuriken or hydro pump definitely wouldve hit
3 moves where it's sad to not see they're varient : Byleth's uncharged neutral-b, Sephiroth's uncharged and mid-charged neutral-b, and Terry's neutral-b (because it couldn't travel/chase Sonic thanks to the different materials use for the ground)
Sonic has to hold back for Smash, so he has to run at the same speed without accelerating
Same with dedede he has a much faster air time his in game air speed is really slow in comparison
I love how the two utility belts in this game fail the challenge. Those being Snake and Megaman.

Fun fact: joker's gun shot is not a projectile. To get the intended hitscan effect, it is instead a very long and thin normal attack hitbox, still attached to joker.

R slash technically the truth. These moves are visually no different from projectiles even if they have different functionality. He’s not hitting you with the move connected to him barring the non-diegetic behavior of hitboxes.

ROB's gyro is actually a lot faster if you don't charge it completely. Charging does increase it's launch speed but the max charge where it's blinking, resets it's speed to slower set amount.

Joker technically can’t hit Sonic with a projectile. The gun’s bullets can’t be reflected. They aren’t projectiles, they’re actually disjointed hitboxes. It’s really weird.
so fun fact, if you press jump at the same time Yoshi throws the egg, it flies farther and faster, idk if it will make a difference but still good to know

Did you try to do the long distance version of Ptooie (throwing the spiked ball after the startup when it's closest to Piranha Plant)? That might've caught Sonic.
They couldn't because of the low ceiling. Same with Mythra's Ray of Punishment full height or her Chroma Dust

Iirc Mewtwo's disable only works if you're facing each other, so even Bowser could "outrun" it.

Pro tip: ROB’s gyro is faster if you DONT charge it all the way. Why that is, I don’t know. But it goes MUCH faster and farther at 99% than 100%
Kinda like how Roy’s Blazing Sword actually has more knock back at 99%

Unfortunately, Sonic reached the end in less seconds, and since he can start running once the Gordo is out, it’d take too long to swallow and spit out to catch sonic
I feel like a couple of these would be discarded in a actual game, especially ones with long charge-ups

Kirby and DeDeDe both have projectiles with their neutral b and I think snakes grenade can be thrown with enough horizontal that Sonic wouldn't outrun it

I want to point something out 8:01 isn't a projectile it's a physical attack all of bayonetta's bullet arts attaks except B-special are physical attacks, I found this out by counting bayonetta's bullet art attacks with palutena.
I really think it would be better to include aaaaall projectiles, including g&w's upair, ddd's and yoshi's stars... it's fine if you don't want to include throwable itens, but everything else that can be reflected is a projectile still

Technically Pikachu side b is a projectile only he's the thing flying at you. Also you let Rosalina use Luma as a projectile and they count as the same fighter. Justice for Pikachu and Pichu.
If it can’t be reflected then it isn’t a projectile. That said, Luma can be reflected if neutral special is what is used.

@@hankpeterschmidt8626 i actually tested it with a friend of mine and it does hit Sonic. The other projectiles were charged so me and my friend charged Pikachu and Pichu's side b they both hit.
