I believe Malcolm described Riff Raff as the ultimate AC/Dc song, the song that best represents what they do. I can only agree with him, its one of my favourites
I saw them with Bon Scott in about 77 it 78, I much prefer the Bon Scott Era. they were a real rock and roll band back then. they have some jewels with Johnson but no where near as good as the Bon Scott Era. .
This is a tricky riff both on fingering and timing. I'm one of those guys that can't count. Anyway, should I keep holding the A chord throughout the riff or let up and just pick the notes as normal?
@@c.r.sherman1795 I’ve tried both ways. Holding it seems to be a bit easier. I just started playing guitar, and this is what I chose to tackle first! Probably spent ten hours on it and still can’t get it right. 😂 Not giving up!!
@@c.r.sherman1795 yea it’s hard to keep it going too. But really fun once you get it! No matter where you’re at in terms of ability there will always be something to challenge yourself with. I really miss Malcom. God rest his soul. What a Rocker that man was.Add Angus and you got nothing but pure straight forward in your face kick ass Rock & Roll. AC/DC FAN FOR LIFE.
Saw AC/DC live in Stockholm, 19/7 2015, at Friends arena. They still rock! My favourite band since ages ago. More than 50,000 fans were there together with me and we loved it. :-) Thank you, Justin!
What a gentleman this guy is for doing this..I grew up in an age where you had to buy or tape the song and listen to it over and over again.. I've only just discovered this song and ACDC, whom I largely ignored throughout their career. Im was delighted to find this. ❤
This means SO much to me. MASSIVE thanks to you, Justin. I LOVE AC/DC deeply, especially this song. THANK YOU, Justin!! I appreciate what you do!! I'm glad you've chosen to share your knowledge and talent with others. Much thanks!
Dear Justin, you made me really happy. "Riff raff" is one of the first rock-songs I remember hearing as a child. It fascinated me and drew me into this kind of music. Although I learned to play guitar, I always considered playing the riffs in this song as completely out of my league. And now you come along and decode these fantastic riffs into five bits of playable music. I played until my finders bled! I love it! Thank you, thank you thank you.
Love your tutorial." You'll just have to listen to the recording as it involves a lot of counting". "Either its mixing it up on the record or my ears just aren't picking it up". I feel the same way. I Iove "not to my ears anyway". Thanks, great, well done.
Play it until you get fed up playing. Then come back to it in a few weeks and you will find it easier. I have just picked it up again after a long time and so much easier.
I compared some other lessons with yours, but you teach it in such a great and detailed way. Many times you are simply the Best;-) Keep it on. Thank You
Hello Justin. I practise through your channel.almoust learned everything i can play by your uploads. Best teacher. Is there a possibility to see Maggot Brain guitar lesson ?
Nice Lesson Justin... One of my Fav AC/DC Tracks. Worth noting that all the original AC/DC albums before 'Back in Black' are about a step down in tuning, so if you want to play along to the album you'll have to tune down to match Angus and Malcolm. Keep up the great work! :-)
You do great! However, in the beginning of the song right after the intro, you are missing an open A string after you strum the A power chord 3 times, you are supposed to play an open A string before going to the 3rd and 4th fret. I'm shocked you don't hear that! Listen to the album again and you'll hear it. It was the first thing I noticed hearing you play it your way. It really stands out as an empty gap. As I mentioned, great job on everything else! You really helped me with parts I didn't know. I'm a solid rhythm guitar player, but I really wish that you showed how to play Angus's lead guitar solos, that would be great!
5 years later but I agree. I hear it too. Your lesson is amazing and I'm very thankful, but listening to the original recording and your lesson I think too that you're missing one note in the main riff, this open A before the 3rd and 4th frets.
Angus plays the 2nd riff with a start on 3rd string 2nd fret, but the note is very "silent" but it's there and merry with the A chord so i't easy to miss it. Sometimes he just leave it out but it should be a part in this classic riff.
Glad to say I can play riff 2 but nowhere near as fast as it needs to be played. Then again I'm a 57 year old beginner. Seriously considering subscribing to your website.
My brother loves Acdc seen them over 100 times in last 30 years Riff Raff is one of his favourites the guitar riff is superb, you play this very well, im sad 2 hear about malcolm was the fine tuning behind the band pure rythum, gona keep trying to learn a few tunes on my acoustic only problem i have is my fingers are killing after half an hour and have bad cuts on tips of my fingers ?
***** Thx Justin for all these AC\DC guitar lesson vids ! and good to know that you dedicated it for Malcolm i think AC\DC was a huge influence on all of us who picked up an electric guitar cuz somewhere down the guitarist bumpy road everybody learned a song or a few from them :)) at least i know it was for me i bought my Epi SG cuz of my love for AC\DC that and because of Black Sabbath Tony Iommi he is my guitar hero cuz Im a lefty too :) so if he can than i could too being a lefty and all :))

They were in their prime with Bon Scott
Me too. I saw them in Jacksonville FL back in 78. What a b;last it was! Cheap Trick and Molly Hatchet opened for them
Only the real AC DC fans know that this had to be one of their best riffs. Hence "Riff Raff"
THE BEST riff in the world! beats any metal, thrash, death metal or black metal riffs..this and bad boy boogie..

You've somehow made Fridays even better than they are. Thanks!
Thank you for this lesson, Justin. Have loved this band for over 40 years but until now didn't know the specifics of this song. Great job.
I saw AC/DC open for Aerosmith in 1977, Cobo Hall, Detroit Michigan. Best rock concert I’ve ever been to. Bon Scott was incredible!
That was a fantastic lesson, as are all of your AC/DC lessons. Thank you so much
THANK YOU very much 15:21

Amazing and really helpful for myself to learn, as at 61 years old I decide now to learn to play the guitar. There's hope for me yet 🤣 Thank you.
Powerage had some superb tracks that so show AC/DC at their best. Up to my neck in you and Riff Raff in particular. Wonderful stuff
my god what a great song!! I stumbled on this video by accident...Time to play the IYWBYGI album in it's entirety!!

best acdc track ever. i'm 57 and still haven't mastered the damn riff. i'lll stick to vocals tho i'm a 40 year guitarist

Another awesome lesson. Love the attention to detail - rhythm, timing, mechanics - thank you!
Justin, I love your acoustic stuff and this is also FANTASTIC! You are even playing a Malcom-guitar. Very nice. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Not trying to be an ass ,...but It is actually a bit higher than 1/2 step down ------it is standard tuning drop down to A430 Hertz !!!
That understated guitar screams out the word hush. Oh, and another textbook rendition.......Kudos.

Yes its actually the second fret on the g string 1st (A). Most people make the mistake of playing the open A string
Also believe the 3 a,s should be up strokes
@@johnjones8412 Yes upstrokes

you're the best at the teaching the counting witch is the importance of learning
Never knew about that pull off on the c in the main riff. Very cool. Thx for breaking that down for us.
Nice one my brother! From Warren. 😎
Thanks for the lesson. How do you get that guitar tone? Sounds great!
One word .... AWESOME .... very nicely explained . Loving it 👍👍👍☮☮☮
I'm finely getting around to this song ... wow .. awesome lesson! thank you !
wow - what an amazing tone! great video

Great video. Great song. Nice, easy-going style.

great lesson, thanks.

Great video. One question my ears cant make it out on the record, but does Malcolm play the bends with Angus on the verse riff? @ 10:45 mark
The solo in this song is anything but easy.
