- Pocket Women posed a question re some automotive issues and a package from the pick artist Tipene. It was a longer than usual delivery, probably due to the virus fear mongering but the wait was definately worth it. I can't do links to other peoples channels due to my computer cretinism but the man in question is Tipene Nga Puhi. Well worth the sub to his channel. Oh, by the way. The automotive NOS is from the late 80s to mid 90s. Not the 70s like i mentioned. Verbal dyslexia:-)

Tipene makes some amazing picks and that’s no exception! Stunning! I’ve seen some photos but to see the finish in video! Great to see them going to a loving home too 👍🏻🍺
Thanks for dropping by. I totally agree with you. He is one of the true artisans of pick design. I have been a HPC pick user all my life but i have to say that your pick design is a slick and user friendly product. It's a bit like industrial meets art. Hope that makes sense. Awesome info again Paul. Tipene's pick is gorgeous. I was lucky to get one but leaving it for a video. They are priceless letter openers, lol. He's a champ and a gentleman. 😃✌

As for the Tipene picks😍😍 beautiful work on that custom pick! The other pick profile is in my regular rotation. Tipene's craftsmanship is amazing. I've admired his work since I started picking. Have a good one mate😀😂

Glad those finally arrived Paul. That has to be the longest trans Tasman journey since those young Aussies rowed across the pond a few years back. Both the Picks are made from 0.019" 301 High Yield Stainless so can be useful for narrower keyways. The Tipene Custom Pick is an Extended GEM Profile that I use for picking the full height of American 1100 keyways and a few of the tighter European lock keyways. The Law Lock Tools Bijou Medium Hook I've used successfully on "some" of the Lockwood Restricted keyways. A lot of these seem to be master keyed which helps.

Yes I am a bit of a mixture. My Mother is Maori my Father was Swiss (I also hold Swiss Citizenship). So I'm a Maori ,Swiss New Zealander 😊

Did you know the 80s and 90s Toyota locks sometimes use split wafers. I tore some locks from my old Hilux 4 runner and found split wafers in them which I thought was odd.
Bloody sweet looking letter openers from Tipene mate 🤟😁 the cross grain looks bloody nice. Really does look like newspaper but can tell it's just the type of timber.
The law lock tools pick is cool as well.
They will both fit in well next to the Bentley 🍺🍺😁👍
Thanks Funkey. Yeah, you maybe on target with the split wafer. But from my journey it would have been the very late 80s and probably the commercial vehicle range. The passenger vehicle range weren't prevalent until the 90s with the advent of central locking and the side track type key. I think the ol' Coaster will be standard issue Toyota wafers. The ignition wafers will be slightly heavier but a bit of tinkering and the ol' girl should be ticking over nicely. Have a good one:-)

Its funny i never really gave much thought to how often we insert and remove a car key and just how much wear it will cause on the key. that letter opener is a work of art

Wow you're one of the lucky few who have a custom Tipene pick - very nice and beautiful pick! A totara tree is native to NZ. Hey so how is coronavirus affecting your business? ... are you still able to work?
How are you Swynndla. Yeah, lucky as to have been gifted the picks. I am pretty quite at the moment so it has had an impact. In saying that, i ain't too worried about the Kung Flu. I am still work active so we'll see what happens. Bogan immune system mate. I was allowed to play in the dirt when i was a kid so it maybe paying dividends. lol. Have a safe time:-)

Dont' underestimate this flu, as even if you catch it & aren't affected much, you could help spread it to others.
