I do not see any controversy here, especially when we consider the fact Moog is not the original inventor of most of the ideas implemented in today's synths. People who want to own a classic Moog character, will buy Moog. Others will be looking for something affordable. I'm glad Behringer brings products at affordable prices for people that would rarely spend money on expensive Moog products anyway. Thanks for the demo.
..i like behringer and always did since the quality managment got better. the old "fake" but very good "fake"synth for less bugs are fantastic ! .but this one (and the keystep) has a special design, not usuall. maybe thats too much copy without waiting. Great review, different to all others and thanks for explaining all the knobs!, I've been checking to get a sequencer/percussion synth to work with my Nord Lead 4 and I am stuck between Crave and the Edge. Since Edge has 8 step sequencer I am little worried. Crave has 32 step sequencer I guess but then again it can't input on the go punch-in in a live setting. I am kinda confused.
Thank you for this great review! I'm still on the fence about the edge, the 8 step limitation is kind of pushing me away, but I love the way it sounds.
What's the function of the telephone in combination with the edge? 🤣 Anyway, i like your demo. Now this machine makes me more excited than the Poly-800.

I'm a great appreciator of the fine wares of Behringer but you don't want to know my true thoughts about this one because it's pretty harsh. But it reminds me, there's a short lecture you maybe interested to listen to by a liberal philosopher who committed suicide named Mark Fisher called "The Slow Cancellation Of The Future". Fisher's idea is invalidated temporarily by AI, at least for now that's the antithesis until it becomes the conformity again. The cancellation of the future applies to this EDGE rhythmically because it's designed for the same simplistic non-innovative noob quantized rhythm that everyone is doing the same thing with on all the groove boxes. Because these groove boxes are copying and conforming with eachother and they don't have the features to do anything else with rhythm, which is actually easy to innovate. They don't want to, Behringer didn't try. Uli Behringer is not being megalomaniacal enough with the synth team and not allocating enough towards invention, these clones are too humble. Behringer should be trying to figure out about how to convince genius innovators to come work for Behringer. That's not extremely easy to do for a corporate bureaucracy because innovators want to do their own thing but one way to hack it is by hiring people who are the most critical about the products. Well Behringer isn't actually getting enough criticism about this aspect. Not many people yelling at them to innovate. We're just happy with the past for now. But what happens when every good synth has been cloned and there's no more past left to copy? Let's get there and find out sooner rather than later.
The Edge is one of those Behringer stunts that I don't understand. It would have been so easy to improve on the design - more sequencer knobs, more waveforms, more oscs, more features. They could have made a better DFAM. Instead they clone the device and alienate people. I don't get it.
What latest news? What are you talking about? You mean moog folding because they couldn't compete when a company like Behringer just keeps cloning their in-production gear, infringing on their IP? You mean moog which did all the R&D and proved its viability in the market, took all the risks, for the clone that you are reviewing? You mean moog which has produced locally and historically paid their employees living wages? You mean moog that has unionized employees that they didn't ball-bust? Moog was having a hard time recently BECAUSE of unethical companies like Behringer. Don't get it twisted. It's clear as day now with the sale that they couldn't raise salaries because they didn't have the money in this climate. Where do you think those jobs are going now? And it's not a new synth. You are wrong to assert that it is.
@@bash-man2360 yes, that’s my objection. Free market capitalism didn’t give rise to the middle class and working wages, nor does it do it now; it destroys it more now than it ever did. If you live in a western country and are working to middle class (ie. 99%), free market capitalism at its purest isn’t your friend, even if you get a cheap knock-off now.

Mine's supposed to show up later today! I'm so excited
Dude, I'm only 8 minutes in and this is already the most comprehensive video on the Edge I've seen. Cheers!
Dankeschön! 👍
great video/workshop, thanks!
"i sync differently" ;). Nice little box for an affordable price.
You got some good sounds from the magenta box , you make a nice couple
A synth endorsed by the Edge really needs a lot of synced delays to hit just right....

Watch out, baby
It’s nice he made the synth video pro Bono😂

I wonder if behringer will ever copy the 1010 blackbox?
Or has it already done so?
Ah man, they should have included fine tune knobs for pitch
You’re right … It looks like osc 1 and 2 have cv in if you wanted to use a different sequencer. Maybe not as fun to do it that way though
So which one is a better option? Crave or Edge? What is the difference between them? If I want to buy one , which one should I chose?

It sounds good and funny! But does it have ratchets in the sequencer part?
The box is not big enough to house the rats -chets.

Can I sequence the edge with an MPC one???
If your MPC emits normal MIDI data, it should be no problem. It‘s a charm to sequence with Ableton!
