Permanently closed is pushing it a bit as this video title is blatant clickbait. I think you and everyone else is also over-reacting to the ride stalling. Countless other rollercoasters do it from time to time and then never do it again for many years afterwards if ever. I've also seen videos saying Thorpe is also going to dismantle the entire ride. The over-reaction to get views is hilarious.
Hence why I put the '?!' After 'permanently closed'. However I don't think it's an over reaction to the coaster stalling. From day 1 it's ran much slower than other coasters that have been brand new and testing. It's an incredible bit of kit and I understand that it'll need more time to bed in than other coasters that don't have WORLDS FIRST ELEMENTS but thorpe park should be more transparent about the problems in my opinion.
@@rollercoastersam_ ?! is hardly anticlickbait the way you used it mate. It's primarly used as a symbol of disbeliefe. The problem is the word permanently. It means finite, as in not opening ever again. You would be an absolut idiot to believe that. I think if you look at this from a engineering perspective and geographical perspective it actually makes complete sense why it valleyed, Thorpe is quite a windswept piece of land, with it being mostly flat and surrounded by water, so gusts of wind strong enough to cause this even on a seemingly calm day can be possible. Also remember that Hyperias lift hill has a variable speed and the rides computer will adjust the speed the lift hill in certain cases. Its also important to remember as well that this can happen on any coaster and it is not uncommon for a ride to valley no matter the age or design. Not great for thorpe from a marketing point either! Oh well, all we can do is wait, i just hope the media and “thoosies” dont trash on thorpe for this. Too many external factors. Thats my take on Hyperia
I’m going on a school trip to Thorpe park on the 16th of July, I want to go on it so bad but I’m probably not cause it’s always got some problem every week and has to close down for 3 more weeks before opening for another week then etc
I can sympathise. My big coasters on rollercoaster tycoon often fail from stalling... The temptation to create the most extreme ride often falls to the desire to have it work properly. Maybe the designers here should pay videogames.
It's a really good ride and brilliantly engineered, I find all the significant issues have been operational and I still put it up to Thorpe rushing for opening day. This ride needed way more fine-tuning. (Obviously it's safe.)
💯 with you that Thorpe Park need to be more open about what's happening. Please do an update if you find out what's happening with the gold-themed '236' day this weekend! Thanks :)
I just arrived in London for a few days’ visit (I’m from the USA). I just went to PortAventura and Ferrari land yesterday and I was hoping so badly to get on hyperia a month after it opened. That element looks INSANE!! But now that it’s closed again, we’re not going to Thorpe sadly 😭😭
this is just getting stupid now. my thinking is that they rushed to get it open on the 45th anniversary and they didnt properly check everything. also the fact that thorpe park arent communicating with the public at all. the reason i think it stalled was because of those trims on the jr imelmann, they need to be disabled. i think hyperia will open again around late next week or maybe early july. thorpe park are losing lots of money from this coaster because they have to constantly give out refunds, free return tickets etc. lets hope its not going to close again after this
I don't think trims were actually installed on the jr immelmen, rather just the brackets for them in the event the train ended up taking the outerbank too quickly. It is clear they didn't need to worry seeing as it struggles to get over it anyway. Maybe they should put a few LSMs there to speed it up 😆
And I 100% agree on your point about communication - Thorpe has claimed to be 'unapologetically authentic' and they are failing at that promise right now.
Slightly? Nah, this guy's gone full clickbait and dipped his toe into fear mongering: "Maybe things are more serious with this than we first thought" and "It does make you worry"... 👀👀
And deffo agree like there's gota be some serious issue to not be able to do that turn so much money spent would expect to be fully working and don't feel like it ever has like they should test more to find out what's the issue here
Iv just been for the weekend with my daughter for her 16th. We absolutely loved it, the cabins however😂. We managed to get on hyperia 3 times over the course of 3 days, and what a ride it was.
@@rollercoastersam_ you can't swing a cat in it. For what you need it's not too bad, we only slept in it. Got in about 9pm was up and out for half 8am. So yeah it's all you need really
I feel really lucky to have been on it twice last Tuesday before Wednesdays roll back and stall. The 1 thing that surprised me was the smell of burning coming from the noisy lift hill mechanism whilst in line to ride. It's such a shame as this ride is superb. Especially the outer bank turn.
I hope Thorpe kept the receipt.
Same 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The big one always tests with sand bags to add weight. Maybe Hyperia just requires weight to make sure it completes the circuit?

I can't defend thorp anymore. Maybe they need to reprofile the outerbank.
its all the air hills and stuff slowing down the ride
Yeah I think the overbank possibly needs to be slightly shorter! Maybe they can speed the lift Hill up 🤔
