I think you’re right for those after thrill rides - if you compare the lineup of Thorpe compared to any other park in the UK then it is clear cut. It is definitely my favourite park at the moment. I think if you’re also after other things then Thorpe can fall behind a bit, particularly if you have young family members because there just isn’t enough for them to do if they go there for a day out. This is where somewhere like Alton Towers might pull ahead as ‘better’ for many people because the entire family, from teenager to young child, can go on the same family day out and there’s plenty there to cater for them all.
@@yourexperienceguide i have often left stoke at 5 am and driven down to thorpe for the day and driven back affter closing 163 miles each way tho sometimes i stay
Hyperia really changed the game. The thing with Colossus, Inferno, Saw, Stealth and Swarm: none of them are real headlining rides, but that's one heck of a supporting lineup.
For me Towers is still the best overall park in the UK, key word overall. Offers the 2nd best thrills in the UK (Sorry blackpool but a boring big monorial and family thrill Icon do not cut it for me), some good family coasters and rides in mine train, curse, wicker man, 13, rapids, battle gallions, spinball and even Hex (Wicker Man is more thrill but does span the full distance really) but also offers the best area for really younger children in the whole UK with Cbeebies Land. It has everything. However, like you said, I am here for thrills. So Thorpe definitely is top for me right now, and by a decent distance. I much prefer Towers as a "park" (gardens and feel of the place) but Thorpe offers the best lineup definitely in the departments I care for. But if Towers open up 1 or 2 flats (1 in the process) and in the future a big lovely Intamin LSM, then they will defo take back the crown for me.
It indeed has more extreme thrill, coasters &" flat" rides than any other UK park. However Alton Towers, Paultons Park, FlamingoLand, & BPB (Resort) are much preferred settings to walk around round for us.
Completely agree re: theming on hypercoasters. How many heavily themed hypercoasters are out there? I can think of one: Kärnan. But that's a pretty unique case. Stateside, arguably there's Superman at SFNE with some props along the course, but that's already stretching it. It's okay for a coaster to just be a coaster and look nice and stylish, not everything needs to be explained away with storylines and animatronics.
Forgot to mention that it’s easier to walk around with it not being as big as Towers, easy access from the car park and not a 1mile walk away and better food options however…..it needs a proper hotel, a good dark ride and a woodie 👌🏻
Previously (like 5 years ago) id have laughed you out of the room i was 100 percent a towers fan but last few years i feel thorpe has been getting better and especially with adding hyperia its fair to say their coaster line up is now absolutely the best in this country
It's a good park with some great rides. They do have a lot of junk too such as Walking Dead and Saw, and nothing decent in terms of a dark ride. We went in April this year, it was freezing and we could not get warm most of the whole 2 days. They don't even have a cozy coffee shop, the restaurants are wide open such as the KFC. The Burger King was OK to sit in but I think they really need indoor attractions and a high quality dark ride. They will have to sort this out with Universal arrives.
I fully agree the line up is unreal , the value when staying in the cabins is amazing , I love it's a thrill park and not a family park there's rides everywhere you don't need to go far to get to your next adrenaline rush, places like towers lack that when you need to walk near on 20mins just to get to forbidden valley then again from forbidden valley to x sector and don't get me started on ridiculous the queue lines ... galactica alone your on a 30% incline 😂 talk about hike. I see the beauty in all the uk parks but Thorpe and BPB are top in my opinion 😊
Hmm I'm saying no, afew reasons. 1. As a resort, the hotel is lacking compared to other Merlin parks, Alton towers, Chessington etc Thorpe park is more a day trip park. 2. There's not as much to do on your downtime, Alton towers has a fun well themed crazy golf, the gardens, Chessington has the zoo etc, Thorpe park has basically nothing but other rides. 3. The size of the place and theming, Alton towers and Chessington are both themed better, Thorpe park has barely any theming other than the Swarm and Saw the ride. To Thorpes credit it does have the best variety of coasters and flat rides if your just into thrill rides, Chessington arguably has more variety though if you have children like I do. Alton towers is the best for me followed by Thorpe and Chessington at a tie. Some people may not agree with that take but Chessingtons Zoo is great their accomodation and again I have kids so it has abit for everyone. Thorpe would be a big contender if they improved their accomodation, somehow expanded and added afew other things to do and upped the theming in the park and not just the rides. Also it could be said Thorpes food selection isn't as good unless you wanna go to a park to eat burger king of KFC, the rollercoaster restaurant at Alton towers is decent and it adds abit more uniqueness to that experience
The Shark hotel isn’t a fun place to stay, I’d love to see them put in a proper hotel. I disagree about theming, each area has its own identity (mostly) where as Towers have mismatches everywhere. Chessington’s ride throughputs are terrible and don’t make it a pleasant place to visit.
@@yourexperienceguide I agree with you there Chessingtons throughput with some idea can be very slow especially Cobra but you can work around that going on a quieter day, I haven't actually been since the world of jumanji was added so I don't know how that has effected the throughput of the other rides and dispersing the crowds

100% thorpe park is the best park in the UK. Towers is a better park for being more magical but Thorpes ride lineup blows towers out the water plus you have the water rides and flat rides which towers do not have. Agree with you scott 100%
You have a great point and they certainly have the best thrill ride selection. Thorpe can get away with few family rides because Legoland and Chessington are right next to it also owned by merlin. Towers comes close for me but they didn't have nemesis on my last visit
When you search Europe for parks with lots of thrills rides you do realise how lucky we are having Thorpe and Alton towers on our door step as they both have a high count of thrill rides. Having visited portaventura, phantasialand, Energylandia and Europa Park I’m wondering what are the next 2-3 best parks in Europe with good thrill coasters. I am thinking I need to get stateside and with my 45th coming up in a couple of years ….
alton towers is definitely the best, the theming is world class and the rides are incredible. you also have lots to do if you don’t want to do many rides like the gardens and the towers ruins. once they install these 3 or 4 new flat rides its going to be even better. i’d say Thorpe is an amusement park with the odd touch of theming
Thorpe Park has become the best park in the UK by excitement rating, however with Hyperia not in operation, i think it will have to go back to Alton Towers for the time being
I completely agree, i think colossus needs new trains, and i think they could do with an rmc. Was talking about this the other day, they had planning for a real hotel, so could sack of the shark cabins and put a rmc hyper there, to compliment hyoeria the other side. The perfect skyline. Also completely agree with chessington and legoland for families too.
I think it absolutely has the potential to be the Uks best now we have Hyperia but based on my visit on Wednesday it’s still far from it. Was standard thorpe of crap ride availability, obviously the only reason we went was closed 🙄 and so was every other coaster at at least some point of the day. I just don’t think it can be classed as the best when you have to spend your day going to whatever ride is actually open rather than what you want to go on. Sort that out and a new high capacity flat and I’ll most likely agree
Yes with a no.... No with a but. I grew up going to thorpe and it has a special place in my heart. For how much they have packed into that space I would say yes. Like you pointed out, coasters, flat rides, water rides. Fantastic! But ride reliability always lets it down and the general atmosphere can sometimes feel.... Off. I've said for years that I would love to see them get rid of the beach and use that area for more flat rides (kids ones or bigger I don't mind)! Keep depth charge coz that is a fun extra but the beach is such a big waste of space and apart from back in the 90s I have never seen a single person on it. I do always go on off peak days though so maybe that's why. But even so! That's a large area to only be open seasonally! It is and always will be my favourite park in the UK but now I have kids (4 and 1yr olds) Paultons is creeping it's way into top spot!
I never have an issue with the atmosphere, if anything I prefer it to Alton Towers but I’ve worked with Towers and still more idiocy than you’d believe. All ex-employees say the same 😂
I personally like Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Paultons Park are better than Thorpe park, Blackpool pleasure beach has a bigger selection of coasters and other supporting rides taliored to certain intensity levels from Icon and the big one to The kiddie rides in Nickelodeon land, Paultons Park may have been known as a family park just because of Peppa pig but have recently been adding to rides that a bit more thrilling like Storm Chaser and Cyclonator. I carnt believe the minimum age for Storm Chaser is 4yrs old as I would be very concerned about a 4 year old on there it’s quite an intense ride and what Paultons does best is bringing together a Themed Area which is what Thorpe park lacks, Tornado Springs and Lost Kingdom are beautifully themed areas with landscaping theming and themed audio, plus Paultons are rapidly investing. Thorpe park only has a big draw to Hyperia, and that is when the ride is actually open
Pleasure Beach have 2 more coasters than Thorpe but some of those need to be replaced. Paultons Park is presented better than anywhere else but I’m a thrill seeker and have no reason to repeat visit until they add thrill rides.
If thorpe had 1 or 2 decent dark rides then i would agree but without a dark ride a staple attraction in any park theme or amusement it cant be the best because blackpool and even towers are better in that department and a few others
Don't know about best but we hold the trophy for worse park in UK M&Ds 😂😂if you could call it park, Scotland needs its own park too one day, got it name for coaster " Haggis Muncher" 😂 irn bru revolution 😂😂
Depends what you're looking for. Living around 20 minutes away, I would say for me personally, yes. It's easily the best park for thrillseekers. For my two young children, however, it offers absolutely nothing. Chessington, Legoland, and Paultons are far better. If you're looking for the 'best' park, surely you need something that offers everything. I'd go with Alton Towers.
Thorpe Best Theme Park 2024 100% They have the best coasters and also they have made massive renovations over the winter and added the UK's best coaster.
I’m sorry but Thorpe park is nowhere close. The fact that they call themselves a resort is an actual disgrace. Yet no1 mentions it!?! And the prices they charge for the shipping containers that they put in their car park goes beyond robbery. It is utterly insane. For me the park is an amusement park. I would not class it as a theme park and have not for a very long time. “Oh but they have amazing rides”. Really? Does it actually? Stealth and the swarm at the only rideable coasters. The rest are unbelievably rough. And Hyperia is nothing but the perfect example. Great rides but not a theme park. Hyperia is not a themed coaster. It’s an amusement ride, just like the big one was. The number one park and resort in the UK is Alton Towers and there is no comparison. Yeah ride availability isn’t the best at the minute. But the minute you drive into the resort you know you’re in Alton towers and you’re in the towers bubble. That is called immersion and that is what you cannot say about Thorpe park. There simply is no competition.
they are not resort anymore just letting u know. okay u like immersion?? go towers then… many people like thorpe, it depends on what u like in a theme park. no need to get so triggered
They have a hotel, ok it’s not a great one but it’s there and with perks. You can’t convince me Alton Towers have better themed coasters than Thorpe, it’s all about the same when it comes to how much effort went in. Galactica? Where’s the theming? Oblivion? Where’s the theming? Smiler? Rita? Come on 😂
You kept flipping between best thrill coasters, and best coasters, as yes Thorpe has the best thrill coasters but not the best coasters, for an average uk theme park goer, Alton for me has the best lineup, it needs 2 more dark rides imo, it has the best flats no question, but the infrastructure and location are not as good as Blackpool and Alton
Thorpe was better than Alton towers even before Hyperia. Alton towers is so out the way. No tall rides. They only got smiler and wicker man that are stand out rides. That's about it. Thorpe a better overall day out. Although I have the most fun at Southend or Skegness as you never have to queue for anything and they are open from 10.30am till 8pm even 10pm on school holidays. So seasides win. Oh and the seaside is way cheaper. 1 more thing, nemesis inferno is the only ride at thorpe park that makes me come off dazed. I rode stealth 22 times in one day and wasn't phased. Swarm is also a very smooth ride. I love the theming.
If Thorpe park is up there of the best in the U.K. that’s worrying Comparing parks to universal , portaventura, Europa park It’s embarrassing 😂 Hopefully U.K. universals if comes out will wipe Thorpe park of the water 😂
as for nemesis infection you carnt say that is better than nemesis at towers cus if there wasn't nemesis at towers there wouldn't be a nemesis infection but other than that to me different parks have their home ways so i have no best a park is a park to me it's just like saying thorpe park is better than universal
i don't know how anyone can disagree with you blackpool pleasure beach/resort/blahblahblah.. is for want of a better word up a spout without a line, thorpe park is far better and the new coaster is great [when it decides to work]
Yeah while Towers attracts the most people the rides are lacking Roller Coaster wise...bang average at Towers. Even Flamingo Land gives Towers a run for its money now Coaster wise.
so where does a family of 2 adults and 2 kids leave the kids for the day while the adults enjoy the big rides,,all parks need to cater for families..all ages,,its ok to say theres parks close by that are more family orientated but the family is going thorpe park
@yourexperienceguide I know you said right now to stop comments like mine but nothing has ever ever come close to the themeing. So I can't class any as theme. X
Wdym Thorpe have decent queues and the only bad queue is colossus and also Thorpe park have good food bc they got kfc and 2 burger kings better than Aramark
Customer service lets Thorpe Park down. They could turn the security entrance into a 'checkpoint Charlie experience' If you stay at the hotel then expect your big 'bloomers' to be dragged out of your suitcase and shown to everyone. Staff will tell you off for being in the wrong queue and don't care if your a season pass holder and make you go back to the end of the queue despite queueing for 30 mins. Dreadful dome restaurant. Sorry if people disagree but they are RUDE RUDE RUDE staff. Never had that problem at Blackpool Pleasure beach, Alton Towers, Drayton, or Chessington. **Anyway I'm going to lie down in a dark corner now to recover from the experience and I will be ignoring the replies from the Thorpe park prison fanboys
The best in the UK! It is one of the worst parks in the world, I will never set foot in this shit hole ever again, have never had a good day there, gang culture!

If Thorpe park is up there of the best in the U.K. that’s worrying
Comparing parks to universal , portaventura, Europa park
It’s embarrassing 😂
Hopefully U.K. universals if comes out will wipe Thorpe park of the water 😂
No ride availability is awfull never a day when at least 3 coasters are down at same time in the day
It's not even close...a league of its own. Nothing comes close Roller Coaster wise.
🏆
as for nemesis infection you carnt say that is better than nemesis at towers cus if there wasn't nemesis at towers there wouldn't be a nemesis infection but other than that to me different parks have their home ways so i have no best a park is a park to me it's just like saying thorpe park is better than universal
i don't know how anyone can disagree with you blackpool pleasure beach/resort/blahblahblah.. is for want of a better word up a spout without a line, thorpe park is far better and the new coaster is great [when it decides to work]
It was the best in the UK even before Hyperia
Yeah while Towers attracts the most people the rides are lacking Roller Coaster wise...bang average at Towers.
Even Flamingo Land gives Towers a run for its money now Coaster wise.
Tom, agreed.
so where does a family of 2 adults and 2 kids leave the kids for the day while the adults enjoy the big rides,,all parks need to cater for families..all ages,,its ok to say theres parks close by that are more family orientated but the family is going thorpe park
Every park has gone down the family destination route, thankfully Thorpe Park are catering for people who want rides to be thrilling.
It will always be subjective as to what theme park in the UK is the best. Let's enjoy them all.
No Blackpool is 🤣🤣
No. It's not the best theme park. The best has gone and it will never be beaten.
Where’s that?
@yourexperienceguide gone in 2012. Camelot was the best THEME park but not best amusement park.
@@clareriley Ah, I’m saying nothing lol
@@yourexperienceguide 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@yourexperienceguide I know you said right now to stop comments like mine but nothing has ever ever come close to the themeing. So I can't class any as theme. X
It's an amusement park, not theme park.
It is not the best park... their queues are endless and not-moving due to the fact they sell too many fasttracks. As to food, it's also a big no.
Wdym Thorpe have decent queues and the only bad queue is colossus and also Thorpe park have good food bc they got kfc and 2 burger kings better than Aramark
Customer service lets Thorpe Park down. They could turn the security entrance into a 'checkpoint Charlie experience'
If you stay at the hotel then expect your big 'bloomers' to be dragged out of your suitcase and shown to everyone.
I don’t understand the prison fanboy comment 😳
The best in the UK! It is one of the worst parks in the world, I will never set foot in this shit hole ever again, have never had a good day there, gang culture!
How?
