se extraña que en Colombia se hagan obras interesantes. la pandemia destruyó la cultura aqui, una lástima

This production features fine singing, and the orchestra is also first-rate, but the production of _Ainadamar_ I recently saw in Detroit was on a different scale. Instead of plain, bare walls the chorus was surrounded by a movable curtain of beads, on which images were projected, as well as sayings of Federico García Lorca, so the singing was done through his words. Perhaps this startling effect was done to demonstrate that his words were illusory, and I had a low opinion of his "Long live Death."
I thought that a better motto to display would be *_¡ No Pasaran !_* ("They shall not pass!") the battle cry of the republicans as they attempted to stop the army of Franco, attacking up from Africa. (Unfortunately, whenever I think of this motto, I am reminded of A.J., a character in the novels of William S. Burroughs, who has that slogan printed on his condoms.)
So, this is a fine production, but it is no match for the modern, high-tech production of Detroit.

In that production of Ainadamar, where the words "Viva la muerte" (Long live death) appear, they are not attributed to Lorca, who did not say that, but rather, to the Falangists who were oppressing him. The segment with that slogan (Long live death) is taken from an actual historical radio broadcast of the Falangists.
