    The judge sounds kind of heartless. I think a lot of judges are heartless towards the victims families. They get in trouble just for crying. Thats sickening to me. I went through this almost 50 years ago and nothing has changed

      They are looking out to prevent a mistrial or a successful conviction appeal. There is much more going on in the judge’s head than meets the eye. They want a clean, fair trial that will hold up to post conviction appeals.

Either one of them could’ve been in either position. Should he be held accountable to some extent? Yes, he murdered someone while high. But the circumstances should be considered in sentencing- self defense aspect and mental state. He needed a lawyer, a paid one at that. This is ridiculous. This was not malicious. And to some extent they all should feel guilt for doing illegal drugs and being negligent to have fire arms around.

    The defendant should not be allowed to question someone close to the victim. That judge should not speak to the witness the way she did. I couldn’t imagine someone killing my loved one then being questioned by them. Some things in our justice system need to be changed

    First off the judge needs to be more empathetic and sympathetic. I'm sure it's traumatizing to be questioned by the man who is accused of unaliving your loved one. The judge didnt have to speak to the witness like that.

      I think she was pretty fair. If you paid attention and set the triggers of her tone to the side you would have noticed she was guiding him on how to structure his questioning with the questions she asked.
      She is actually exactly what a judge should be. What do you all expect, a third grade teacher tone? Firm, direct, impersonal and to the point. The complete opposite of Judge Whitaker and the predecessor of the YSL case.

      She's used to presiding over trials in which each side is represented by experienced attorneys. In this trial the defendant who is not very well educated, is representing himself and doesn't have much idea of what he's doing. The judge is guiding him so there's little chance of an appeal. I think her patience was starting to wear thin.

      I think that where you err is in your point related to pro se defendants havng made case law.
      Case law is everything contained in the trial record. All pro se defendants words form a part of the trial record and therefore all pro se defendants words are case law. But that means little, other than being a part of the trial record.
      By your statement, it appears you are confusing the concept of case law with the concept of legal precedence.
      Few pro se defendants have set legal precedence.

There is a bunch of cases that are controlling that were done by pro se clients of course if it goes to the Supreme Court of US lawyers come onboard but an appellate attorney is no better than the trial attorney. Obviously because you cannot raise on appeal what has not been preserved or presented to the trial court.

      Well there is no “time limit” he’s pro se so she knows he isn’t a competent attorney so ALL judges always give pro se defendants some lateral during their case.

    "If I felt uncomfortable I would leave at that second and not lingering around to take objects out of my purse and or recharging my phone."
