I can’t even begin to explain the impact Death has had on my life and my playing. Chuck was an absolute genius, and we can only guess at the heights he would have reached if not for his tragic passing. RIP Chuck, we miss you.
The whole album of The Sound of Perseverance is so amazing. I would have picked every song off that album 😅 Scavenger of Sorrow, Bite the Pain, Spirit CRUSHERRRRR, Flesh and the Power it Holds and Voice of the Soul. Absolute perfection!
That Symbolic is so good, could literally play that for hours on guitar and not get bored. Then again that could be said for all of Death's riffs. Chuck was a master.
My personal favorites from death are lack of comprehension, perennial quest, symbolic, and the flesh and the power it holds. Chuck really knew how to blend beautiful melodies with fast and brutal riffs. You need to check out voice of the soul, it's one of my favorite solos. Will always hold a special place in my heart for death.
I know right; I started listening to Death from the beginning. I was in a Camelot Music, if anybody remembers they were the big music stores in the malls in the 80’s, and was browsing cassettes and came across Death Scream Bloody Gore. I thought the band, album and song names were cool as well as the cover art so I bought it. Leprosy is one of my all time favorite albums.
I've always loved Lack of Comprehension and always wanted to delve into them and have the past year and I'm so glad I did. Each album gets better and better, great tone, riffs, vocals, lyrics, bass lines, drums etc. etc. Could go on for days haha. Really love the whole vibe and atmosphere each song gives out. The Philosopher has got to be one of the best metal riffs of all time! Loved the video:)
The first three riffs parts are what I play almost every day. Makes you aware of the awesomeness of Death and riffing on guitar in general. Cool video!
,,,,hello from land o lakes,wi.........tnx for covering Mr Shuldiners riffs,,,,,I should have been into this band years ago,!,,,,,,I recently found how much he was ahead of his time,,,and how influential he is to the metal community........HUGE........please watch his love concert footage( if you haven't already).....wow.........this is in early 80s...........especially spirit crusher,,,,,,,,,,,,,can't belive I was not into this back then????...it truly is guitar 101..in my world..............tnx,again.....big fan here,,,pat.
Wut. Never really listen to Death? I wore records like Leprosy, Human, Individual Thought Patterns, and Symbolic out. Those are really their best ones. I'd like to hear a Spiritual Healing cover. When the solo hits its magic.
@@thepurpleplayer9168 X2N is a hell of pickup for metal. Although, not too friendly with lower end USB interfaces as it clips the input easily. Other than that, it's a straight up EMG killer (has very chunky mids and a LOT of output) and probably my favorite pickup after the L500XL/Dimebucker.
Listening to death is such a heavenly experience. Be it the early death metal writing and the latter progressive death metal writing. RIP Maestro Chuck.
Bite the pain is such an awesome song. I agree, Death definitely inspired so many bands. I can’t listen to some bands because of Death, some bands sound like watered down versions of Death. Biggest offender has to be As I Lay Dying’s Within Ruin.
Awesome video!!! Glad to finally see some new Death related videos still coming out on TH-cam.....I assumed for the 34th anniversary of Leprosy which was today....I think the 2nd riff you played is easier to play the 2nd half ending riff by playing Low E string 4th fret, 3rd fret, Open E, to 2nd fret, 3rd fret,Open E.....and then a first fret low E power chord and instead of playing all that over and you play the Low E 6th fret power chord.....but I instead just switch over to the 1st fret power chord on the A string since it's closer than dropping down to the 6th fret
Riff in verse of Perennial Quest is so underestimated. Imo it's one of best Chuck's riffs. And I don't know what happened to your drums in Spirit Crusher XD
Just a little fun fact for you Jamie since you love dimebag. The other lead guitarist on the sound of perseverance Shannon Hamm grew up on the scene with dimebag in Texas and was known to out shred dime. They were really close. Poor guy lost dime and Chuck. Rip both.
Can Jamie or anyone else from Europe answer this? Growing up were european death metal bands more popular and well known in europe versus the big american bands of the time?
as someone from the uk who's in their late 40's, i became aware of american dm first via death's 1st album, scream bloody gore, and then massacre - from beyond, morbid angel - alters of madness. then the whole morrisound scene blew up. but, then i started coming across carnage, entombed, etc., and swedish (and other european) dm, took over. still always kept an eye out for death and morbid angel, though.
Tomorrow will be 20 years ago when we lost The Philosopher of Death Metal R.I.P. Chuck Schuldiner Shred Lord who wears kitten t shirts to Cannibal Corpse Interviews

Well said brother
are you the son of Jared Dines and Stevie T?
@@chilldeen4590 Haha no, that’s legit my name and last initial.
I honestly had no clue who those guys were when I first started using TH-cam.

Scavenger of Sorrow, Bite the Pain, Spirit CRUSHERRRRR, Flesh and the Power it Holds and Voice of the Soul. Absolute perfection!
@Camille Lo its amazing 😂
painkiller cover also kickass
I love this album too but it's my least favorite from Death.

my personal favorite riff is the bridge section right before the solo in the song "Without Judgement"
Same! Such a sick riff!
Same
It would have been nice to add riffs from some of their earlier songs like zombie ritual, pull the plug, or leprosy. Still a great video though!
Leprosy got those Tremelo into Pinches 🤘🤘

Open casket 🔥
There has been a period where I only listened to Death, like for more than a year, and they never bored me.
Chuck was a God! I didn’t listen to death all that much until around 2010 or so, but he’s up there with Dime as my biggest influence for guitar.
My favourites that may be a little less well known:
- Together As One
- Altering The Future
- Sacred Serenity
Mine-
•Zombie Ritual
•Evil Dead
•Pull the plug
•1000 eyes
•Crystal Mountain.
I have never been so influenced by a band than Death. Greatest death metal band ever! RIP and hail Chuck!

The greatest death metal band of all time by far!
The only band that can compete with Death is the one and only"Carcass"
The Philosopher is my favorite from Death, not just for the guitar parts, also for the bass parts too.
Good to see you're into Death now, what they did was groundbreaking. Great playing and choice of riffs, spirit crusher's my favorite!
Death and Opeth, few bands come close
Check out the Leprosy album. That album is absolutely riff-tastic.
Great choices, you've picked most of my favourites :D
Yayyy
That Spirit Crusher riff is my favorite riff of all time its the riff that got me into playing guitar.
Very Similar to the Riff/Song Collection I'd have chosen, Chuck was all round an unreal talent. Sick Job Jamie
The intro to The Philospher is my favorite. The taps harmonize with the rhythm guitar beautifully
KILLER medley, Jamie. Death's last two albums have some of the greatest riffs I've ever heard. True masterpieces. RIP Chuck.
The first three riffs parts are what I play almost every day. Makes you aware of the awesomeness of Death and riffing on guitar in general. Cool video!
Killer riffage man, great video. The cortex sounds spot on!
I feel like Chuck’s riffs are as important as his tone

2:00 for a moment I thought Bite The Pain was starting😂😂
Great guitar sound. Keep jamming. RIP Chuck!
Love when you mention Josh and Sylosis. I know Sylosis riffs is flowing in your blood.
Digging that tone man! Congrats on 95K & killer playing as always!
Spirit Crusher is back-to-back with God tier riffs
Despite Bite the Pain not being exactly like the original here, I actually kinda prefer it your way!
Sounds sick!
Great list. I'd also include Pull the Plug, Without Judgement, Overactive Imagination, Lack of Comprehension, 1000 eyes.
I loved the video dude! Death is definitely a big band for me! It sounded fantastic bud! Thanks for the shoutout!

No I’m not
👀
THANK YOU JAMIE
These riffs are what I'm talking about Jamie! F#CK YES!!
Why no Empty words? Imo the coolest death song. Sound is really spot on, btw
No, that isn't coolest Death song.
🔥I will say, as an avid Chuck Schuldiner fan, you did an outstanding job on the medley; I loved it!🔥!
1000 eyes is quite a fantastic track and riffs from Without Judgement 🔥!🔥
Death is one of my absolute favorite band, nice to see some riffs covered on your channel! (Would have been great to include some older ones too 😁)
Awesome video and thank you for sharing 👍👍💚
Thank you for watching :) I appreciate it

Nobody raises the desire for pointy guitars more than Chuck.
And using only the bridge pick up,
HIS STEALTH GUITAR, AAHHHH
Best band, best dude. Chuck, Alexi and Dime 🤘
Also, check "trapped in a corner". Killer solo from Andy Larocque and fits chucks backing perfectly.
Death has some bangers for sure! Good shit!
Flesh and the Power It Holds is just a fucking library of sick riffs on its own.
I'm not a Death Metal guy, but what a great tribute!
Been a huge death fan for years! Chuck has been my inspiration to pick up a guitar.
Chuck is GOD!!!
@@euronymous235 I used to carry his lyrics around in my backpack back in high school like a bible so yea I can agree

Some of the most underrated death songs in my opinion is low life, genetic reconstruction and within the mind from the spiritual healing album
