I think this could be my dream wallet! It’s like the card pocket but with easier access to coins. I don’t get the hate in the comments; the wallet is the definitely targeted at people who need coin storage
Coins…have a huge glass jug of them at the house. Carrying them is not a joy in my life. The wallet looks very good and seems extremely useable…and the “spare key” compartment appears to be a great innovation!
I was against zippers until I moved to Europe and needed to carry a ton of Euro coins and this style of wallet, being naturally chunky, was great for it. The zippy coin wallet form factor is really damn good. I have two from LV. The mental block I have is against MAGNETS. Putting magnets next to credit carbs with strips is a non-starter for many. Personally, I realize in 2021, all the cards that I card have contain chips and I rarely need to swipe, but imagine erasing ever card you have because you have a wallet that thought magnets would be a good idea.
Thanks for review, I hope Bellroy would produce simular model consist of that internal magnet coin pocket + 2 outside cardslots at each side. It would be both super compact and super functional minimalist solution.
Thin minimalist wallets are designed to be card first, cash 2nd and coin never, they are not very practical and can be cumbersome to use. Bifolds are more user friendly and practical, however they can get too bulky. For me, zipper wallets are the perfect blend of practicality and thinness. They are thinner than bifolds yet more usable and practical compared to thin minimalist wallets. Heck they even more usable and practical than most bifolds. What I like the most about zipper wallets is their practicality and flexibility. You can throw anything in there and you are good to go. No need to be concerned about any items falling out, even for small items. If you are confident enough, you don't mind carrying zipper wallet.
I'm actually using this wallet now after moving up from the card pocket. I do tend to have a few coins and it's pretty good at holding them. I wonder if I have too many cards though as they're not always easy to remove
Would this be a good option for travelers to coin or cash-dominated countries such as Japan? Is there a list on your site for wallets good for those places? I personally would love to have a second wallet for that purpose.
I do because of the size, especially for international travel, but I could make it my daily carry and be okay with it. The Card Pocket was just a bit too small for me.
You OK there Mark? I mean you didn't mention once in the video about an external quick access card slot! That would make this wallet even better! I mean, you don't have to unzip every time you going to tap-pay /access something quickly.
I heard several people say they had their credit cards ruined by the magnets…..That’s an automatic no go for me😑They should really think about those things while making wallets with magnets In them.
I just cannot do zipped wallets and ‘horse shoe’ shaped coin wallets 😂 😝 Mark, you are starting to like them more cus of *cough* your age my friend! 😯 It’s an older thing 😉
Yes, Bellroy wallets are primarily made in India with some in the Philippines. I've not see the "made in" on any Bellroy packaging in a long time. It's on their website.
Hi can you recommend a wallet like this, but has an easy card access outside of the wallet? Other than mayfair or nodus, also nodus I considered but I think they already closed their company.
I don't know and haven't discovered it. There were no marking on the zipper to indicate the manufacturer. The performance, however, was very solid and with a 3 year guarantee, I would expect the quality would hold up.
I really like the wallet, and would use it. But it lacks in nice colors. I wouldn't pay that much for a wallet if it didn't have a nice color. Would like to see pink, and the one with the cobalt inside having a light blue on the outside. And the plum one being a brighter plum color with a purple on the inside.
I need help!! I want to get my dad a really nice leather wallet thats trifold. Im ok if its kinda bulky i just want a real leather wallet. Any suggestions/ recommendations for me?
Hey Mark, really enjoy your reviews. How about checking out some LAND wallets. They make some awesome zipper wallet and other wallets. Here in the Bahamas 🇧🇸 we Love LAND products.
@@walletopia I like the Cosmos vertical and the Cosmos minimalist wallets. The one that I currently use is not available anymore. I have had that for at least 15 years or more. It’s still in perfect condition. Thanks for asking!
I don't mind RFID protection, but it's not needed to be built INTO the wallet, it's just a marketing scam. If you want RFID protection, getting and RFID card works just as well. That said, due to the advances with pin and chip cards, it can be argued it's not needed at all.
This pattern is normally a woman’s wallet in the past, using a metal clasp instead of zippers and magnets. I’m a man but I’m not opposed to carrying this, if I need to carry coins. Thankfully in USA I can get away without using coins today.
I love my Bellroy Card Pocket zipper wallet, due to it's small size but great capacity. I would have liked this one too but for two facts. Magnets have no place being anywhere near a wallet, they can affect cards and mechanical watches. Second, that coin pouch, while a great idea, should be off to one side. As literally the central feature, Bellroy have made a design decision I don't like and which looks a little strange given the move towards the cashless society. They older Zip Wallet may have less capacity but it's a nicer design, in my view.
I've had this wallet for a year with no issues to my cards regarding the magnets. I'm actually glad the coin pocket is in the middle since the coins would have left a nasty impression on the leather otherwise. But to each they own I guess. I definitely recommend this wallet.
Great review as always Mark. I just can't get past a zipper on a wallet, just looks like they're intended for a kid's first wallet. I know they're on there for security, but training wheels are on a bike for the same reason and I took those off my bike too.....................last week 😃
I know, zippers and snaps draw your mind to purses, so it can be hard to get by. I did a carry test of the NODUS zip wallet and once done I really like the wallet.
This wallet combines the worst of all worlds, zippers and snaps. More than bills get caught in a zipper on a daily basis - ouch. What are the snaps for anyway? And honestly, when you whip out this wallet, you are truly a nerd and I do understand this might be appealing to some. On a different note, I believe that the quality of their wallets keeps improving. The zipper looks solid. Cheers, Chris
Thanks Chris, the "snap" you heard are magnets...yes, I know :), but they function really well. And I would agree, for the most part their quality is improving.
I think this could be my dream wallet!

Thank you for the review. Interested in this wallet but worried if the magnet on the wallet will demagnetize credit cards with strip.

Nice one Mark. I just started using my Bellroy Card Pocket in Earth Red and am enjoying using it. Bellroy are awesome. 🦉💷👏🏼😎
Wonderful!
This looks awesome. I wish I didn't have a mental block against zippers and snaps.

Agreed, they should have enough data to show them which of these features combined would be winners.
surprised there isnt a secret pocket on the side
Yes, I clearly missed my opportunity to call out the lack of a quick access card slot. EVERY wallet should have one.

Absolutely! This would be my go-to for international travel.
Does the magnetic pocket ruin your credit cards?
Would you feel safe keeping it in pant pants pocket and sitting on it with cards inside?
My normal wallet keeps breaking my cards.
Great Vid. Do you prefer it to the card pocket?
I do because of the size, especially for international travel, but I could make it my daily carry and be okay with it. The Card Pocket was just a bit too small for me.
Similar to Waterfield Finn. Any warnings on the handouts about magnets and credit cards?
None, they're very slim at the top and the magnets face internal to the pouch so they aren't exposed to the slots.
Does it really fit 12 cards? Does the magnetic closure ruin the cards?
You you double fold bills and fit in magnetic center slot??
You can but that primarily for coins
You OK there Mark? I mean you didn't mention once in the video about an external quick access card slot! That would make this wallet even better!
I mean, you don't have to unzip every time you going to tap-pay /access something quickly.
Yes, I realized that after the fact. It would have been perfect with that, my slip :)
I heard several people say they had their credit cards ruined by the magnets…..That’s an automatic no go for me😑They should really think about those things while making wallets with magnets In them.
Magnets are hard to do well, but can be done.
I've had this wallet for over a year and I've never had an issue with the magnets ruining my cards.
Put the swipe strip away from the magnet if you're worried about it..The Magnet will not affect the chip.. I mean who swipes cards these days anyway?
Jusy got my bellroy card holder zipper wallet and I absolutely love it bellroy is so great
I have 1… really love it ❤
I’m having a hard time deciding between folio mini and the card pocket Wallet.
Me too. What did you end up picking.
Is there a way to find it which wallets are higher scoring?
Yes, go to www.walletopia.info/rankings
How much, i need one
I just cannot do zipped wallets and ‘horse shoe’ shaped coin wallets 😂 😝 Mark, you are starting to like them more cus of *cough* your age my friend! 😯 It’s an older thing 😉
Haha, I don't doubt it. First my vision, then my hearing, then my sense of style 😂
Hi is the wallet made in India ?
Was it written in the box ?
Yes, Bellroy wallets are primarily made in India with some in the Philippines. I've not see the "made in" on any Bellroy packaging in a long time. It's on their website.

hey Mark. Could this wallet fit somehow a 4.15" x 3" card? Thanks!
Could you please tell us about the zipper manufacturer origin on this?

Could you fit more cards in the center section of this?
you wouldn't want to with the magnets
Found an extra zipper inside mu folio mini. I feel a bulge when inspecting the wallet. Weird that they put it there ans not on the box.
Interesting, probably a packaging blunder.
Is it a wallet or pocketbook...hmmm?
😂. Oh, you would have to bring up the obvious!
Hi Can it support 20 cards and still able to zip?
total thickness of combine cards about 1.5cm thick.
Real men aren't afraid of zippers!
Agreed.
I need help!! I want to get my dad a really nice leather wallet thats trifold. Im ok if its kinda bulky i just want a real leather wallet. Any suggestions/ recommendations for me?
Hey Mark, can you please check the Distil Union Wally Bifold 5? Thank you! Great review as always!

I'll check it out. Which model do you prefer?

Nice wallet. Is it a man or woman wallet?
I don't get it. Why does this guy not like RFID protection?
I don't mind RFID protection, but it's not needed to be built INTO the wallet, it's just a marketing scam. If you want RFID protection, getting and RFID card works just as well. That said, due to the advances with pin and chip cards, it can be argued it's not needed at all.

Indeed. With all the talk about cashless payments worldwide, the amount of coins used outside the US is amazing.
Throw an airtag in the coin pouch
Excellent idea!

I actually like the divider in the middle for organizing purposes. I'd prefer no magnets, though.

I like this wallet a lot but my personal bias considers when you put a zip on a wallet it becomes a purse :/
Sponsor please hehe i really want that❤
Why does this guy hate RFID protection??
Looks super practical but way too big. Could also never get past the zipper.

too small for a woman
