Just booked our tickets in January $248 out of dfw round trip to Managua!!! $828 total for 3 with one checked bag!! Spirit is our favorite!! Our trick is back packs are free so everyone carries back pack and we are a super saver member to save on our 1 checked bag. Even if there is a purse it counts as a personal bag so you have to put it in the backpack. Also we never pick our seats and are always seated together. Just don’t buy any of their add ons and it’s the best deal ever!! Only issue is in Florida when we fly in from Dallas, sometimes they don’t allow enough time to catch our flight. We have missed our flight a few times, but luckily there is always one pretty quick after.
I flew on Spirit to MGA from Chicago December 8. Good flight. We need the competition to keep prices and service in check. I hope they stay in business and continue to fly to MGA.
I tried Spirit years ago when traveling to Colombia. They were less expensive than Avianca and they did a good job of saving me money and most lmportant getting me safely. I plan to use them again.
I don't mind Spirit. They don't lie about anything. You get a seat on a plane and nothing more. If you want something more, pay for it. Oh and we're super affordable. It's 2 hours in a seat. All the other airlines are cutting back right now, so there isn't much difference anyway.
I don't know how bankruptcy affects companies ability to operate - One might think it it like an individual when they declare bankruptcy - they generally loose everything, or nearly everything. It's very likely they don't understand how it really works - as I clearly don't.
Being a “small” company, the haters feel empowered with their negative words. If they were a “big” company, the haters feel empowered with their negative words. Complaints for the sake of complaints. People that complain about chap 11 (& have no concept of how restructuring works) are the same one who just voted a a professional bankrupter and say its because he’s smart.
I wrote Spirit customer service about their proof nof return policy. This is what they said. It is because each country has their own conditions to allow people from other countries to travel there. We need to adhere to each country regulations. For example, they request Visa for US visitors, and a very common condition for countries that ask for Visa, is a proof that you have anything on your country that ties you to return. So if I fly Spirit what would you have me do ? Buy a return flight I won't use? Nicaragua issues visas at their border. If you have a return flight, no return proof should be needed, but for a one-way trip, it is needed because the visitor Visa allows you to stay up to 90 days in Nicaragua. From migration, they need to know that you won't exceed that timespan. FYI. I've found similar policies at American and United so.....
everyone has to have that policy. and the websites often give a generic warning. there is no policy to fake a requirement and it's very rare, never has happened to me.
Happy customers get what is expected and rarely do reviews. I seem to believe that good reviews are from people that had bad experience on other competitors. Some bad reviews are legit. Most bad reviews are due to self entitlement. I tend to look at bad reviews for pettiness . From looking at spirit the only issue that irritates me is change of flight time from late night to afternoon making travel a pain in but due to travel to ft Lauderdale. Not spirit fault

It's a form of bankruptcy called "Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection". It's protection against complete bankruptcy.
