Once a year is probably often enough to purge the files. You should keep anything you need for tax purposes and any vital records. Other than that, it's up to you. As I file paperwork, I put new documents in the front of the folder. That way when I purge the files I know the oldest items are in the back. I hope this helps.
Thank you so much! I'm setting up this system as I write! One quick question, do you suggest folks use a label maker/print for the manila folders (if using) or do you suggest that your clients just hand write this part?
Question: Please help! Im on Medicare, & get frequent statements & summaries from Medicare, my Medicare supplement insurance co, & my drug insurance co. I’m afraid to throw any of it away, but don’t know what they’re for? What do I need to look for on all of these? Which do I need to keep? For how long? THANK YOU!!!
Where do I file health products, beauty products, I purchase regularly online? & I also get business cards & flyers from a printing company where would you suggest I file it? I would appreciate a respond for my questions please. Thank you & thank you for making this video.
Are you saving these health and beauty products receipts, etc for a business? If so, you need to have a separate filing system for business. Then the receipts for purchases should go into a receipt file. If it's product information you could create a file called that - product information. Flyers could be filed the same. Business cards are more difficult since they are small. I would digitize them or get a separate file box to fit their size. Then you can file them alphabetically by name or company or you could file by product or service they provide.
@@BasicOrganization So have Product Information as category & name file as Nutritional/Health Products & name file as Beauty & Skin Products Products under category? Well as far as business cards I meant the company I purchase business cards & flyers from. What do you suggest I have as category? I will name file as Printing & Advertising of course. But I have advertising, marketing, etc so I am not sure what to categorize these as?Thank you for your response again.
@@letmec08 Yes to the products filing. If you don't have a lot of advertising/marketing paperwork than make one file for it all. If you have a lot then separate them. I would say file this information where ever you would go to look for it. It matters who your brain works when thinking about this type of information.
your video was so helpful.I would love the templet for files. Thank you
I greatly appreciate your teaching with organizational skills. I would like to have a copy of the labels to use in my own filing cabinet. Thank you

well done. Thanks for
Thanks
How often do you purge the secondary files? what to keep? do you file them by year?

or do you suggest that your clients just hand write this part?
I would handwrite the manila folders. I think of them as more temporary, while I think of the hanging files as the file structure and more permanent.

THANK YOU!!!
I suggest you work with a Medicare expert to get your questions answers. We are not experts in dealing with Medicare claims. Sorry.
Can you do a filing system for a small business
Good idea. I'll work on it. The system will depend on the kind of small business.
