This video was probably one of my favorite videos Amanda has made, she clearly had such an awesome time, it’s fun to hear about all the meh events, but this one was clearly a blast.
"Just talk to people" Way back in college I was in the local EAA chapter and we did a couple pancake breakfast fly-ins, one guy came in one year in I think it was a T34, this big two seater trainer aircraft from like the 1950s. Word got around that he was giving ONE ride to a girl in the chapter, wasn't there to give rides, but he gave one to her because she went up to his airplane when he parked it and just said hi, asked him about it, etc. She just talked to people, and got a sweet once-in-a-lifetime ride in an incredible plane.
i absolutely agree with just talking to people. my family has been in motorsport for decades and my grandad would tell you that networking is one of the most important aspects of both trying to get a job in the industry and getting the best experience as a fan at events. the more friends you make, the better. especially if you’re on your own. at the australian grand prix this year, i was incredibly lucky. i was just minding my own business, watching the V8 supercars on one of the screens and i was approached by ashleigh (idk how to spell her name) and jimmy from aston martin! i got to chat with them and tour around the garage. i’ll cherish that day forever.

I was really into Nascar as a teenager and a couple times a local car dealership or a store that was sponsoring a driver would have one of the cars there. I never got to sit in one but seeing one of those cars up close was an amazing experience. So happy for you Amanda. :)

Watched this whole video with the biggest smile on my face. It always comes across in your videos that you love what you do, but it was dialled up to 11 here
It's so cool to see your love of F1 and motorsport on the channel!! On that note I'd love to see you go to Sevenstock next year! It's a car show for rotary engines (mostly Mazda RX-7s and RX-8s, but also other Mazdas and a few non-Mazdas with engine swaps) that takes place each year in Irvine, so not a super long schlep for you. It's the largest rotary show outside Japan! Used to be at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, RIP 😢 Now that it's at the Irvine short track they open up the drag strip to anyone who comes, so you can even run your daily driver down the quarter mile! You'll get to experience the godlike sound of the 4-rotor, perhaps the only engines to ever sound better than an F1 V10. You'll also probably run into Rob Dahm, a youtuber who you should definitely know about if you don't already. It's also very cheap, $25 entry fee this year and free parking. You'll even get to speak to the folks at Mazda North America who bring out their whole new lineup and a few heritage racecars, and I bet you could get yourself tickets to auto show press days through them 👀
Also I wrote this under a Goodwood FOS video the other day, figured it was very relevant: I'd love to see Sonoma raceway host F1! Much better venue than vegas imho. It's a grade 2 track that mostly needs spectator facilities to meet grade 1 requirements, it's been used many times to run Indycar and WEC, and it's a genuinely fun and challenging track provided you're running the full layout and not the Chute. Plus it's close to all the tech bros in SF/Oakland/Silicon Valley as well as the older rich people in Napa/Sonoma, so easy access for the only fans Liberty Media actually gives a hoot about. The car culture in the Bay area is awesome too, kinda like the Socal car culture was 15-20 years ago, so if the tickets aren't an absolute fortune they'd see massive attendance. The only downside I can think of is that to get to the track from the east, you need to take Highway 37, a one-lane highway through protected wetlands that gets ferociously bad traffic during NASCAR race weekends, but that could be easily solved by closing the highway for the weekend and establishing a temporary bus route to the track. If it were up to me and I *HAD* to have 3 USGPs in a year, it'd be COTA, Indianapolis, and Sonoma. We'll see how the Vegas track ends up being over the next few years, but certainly not Miami!
Hey, watched all of your videos since you covered Mythicon, and I think this is my favorite ❤ the passion you show for this newly found interest if yours is inspiring and palpable! It reminds me how awe struck of racing I was as a kid. Thanks for this one Amanda!
Happy birthday Amanda !! Happy you had this experience !! Wish we could meet and talk about all things F1, no one gets it around me lol they just think it’s a car driving around and around for two hours!!
I'm so glad you had a good birthday and I'm so glad you got to sit in the car and see the tires and everything crazy like that. It has been awesome to watch your recounting of this experience and I'm really glad it was so amazing for you. I really enjoy watching your videos and hearing about events all over the US.
I am SO CURIOUS to know if your “how do I watch ESPN after seeing the race!?” feeling holds strong after seeing the Vegas GP in person. While I appreciate that I have been able to attend Austin’s GP twice, I honestly prefer to watch it on tv where I can see more of what’s happening. I assume(?) you’re going to do a Vegas GP video? Maybe? Id love to hear your take on the experience
I have never been more hyped to watch a video, you got to see Senna's car up close??? I am so happy for you! Also yes, key in any motorsports is showing interest in the sport/cars/bikes, rather than the drivers.
These kind of events are most often plagued by poor communication. What is obvious for the organisers (because they created it) is not remotely so for the attendee. So this is most often just taken for granted - everyone will think like us. Consequently, one may spend a fortune for the ticket and have an amazing experience whilst someone else who did not "click into the obvious fold" did not have the same experience, most often feels short changed. No one seems to want to resolve issues "seen from the outside" where the client will be coming from. They content themselves with seeing everything from the inside and from a position of knowledge, so everything is obvious ... to them of course.
I think meet and greets are kind of awkward because it’s not like you’re going to have a genuine interaction with whatever celebrity you’re looking to meet. It’s going to be “handshake, autograph, photo op, next”. Maybe less depending on what they charge for. 🤷♀️
I would have been so pissed if I had paid 3 grand for something and got basically the same experience as the 150$ tickets... Like that's an insane price for them to not know what to do with you

You'll even get to speak to the folks at Mazda North America who bring out their whole new lineup and a few heritage racecars, and I bet you could get yourself tickets to auto show press days through them 👀
Also I wrote this under a Goodwood FOS video the other day, figured it was very relevant:
I'd love to see Sonoma raceway host F1!
My new years resolution for 2024 - start talking to more people at events like Amanda!
Happy Birthday I am so glad you had a great time!
We need more sponsors like LELO supporting this space with ambassadors like Amanda!
I don't care about racing but I did get so excited to hear what a wonderful time you had
this is the first time ive been truly envious that you attended something 😂 this is so sick. thanks for making a video about this
immaculate ad segue, perfection
Your little head just poking out of the car is so funny and cute. Just beaming 23:05
It looks like you had an amazing time. Happy birthday!
Such a lovely video. Happy Bday Amanda and let's go McLaren!
I'm glad you had a good birthday!
When I say I was smiling this ENTIRE video…so glad you shared this experience with us!!
I know absolutely nothing about racing but seeing Amanda gushing and nerding out is the best thing ever ❤️ I’d love to see more videos about racing!
I'm so glad you had a good birthday and I'm so glad you got to sit in the car and see the tires and everything crazy like that. It has been awesome to watch your recounting of this experience and I'm really glad it was so amazing for you. I really enjoy watching your videos and hearing about events all over the US.
I love seeing someone talk about something that they love!
Sounds like an awesome experience. I try to tell people...being friendly and sociable can lead to great things 😊. Belated Happy Birthday to you!
Happy birthday Amanda! It was awesome seeing you in the car on Instagram! What a dream!
That sponsor lol 10/10
I think meet and greets are kind of awkward because it’s not like you’re going to have a genuine interaction with whatever celebrity you’re looking to meet. It’s going to be “handshake, autograph, photo op, next”. Maybe less depending on what they charge for. 🤷♀️
I have amaxphobia but your joy is so infectious 💕
I would have been so pissed if I had paid 3 grand for something and got basically the same experience as the 150$ tickets... Like that's an insane price for them to not know what to do with you
Amanda you have got to take time to enjoy yourself you do enough work for your channel I'm glad to see you got to do something you love and had a good time xx
It's crazy you went to Sonoma. One of my favorite tracks in America ❤.
That looked awesome! If you liked that, maybe you should consider going to Goodwood Festival of Speed next year
I dont know anything about racing. but im glad you had such a lovely birthday trip! your excitement for this is infectious :)
