I love how these guys are always "interrupting each other" yet not actually speaking over each other or battling for conversation. It's so easy to listen to these guys. Very interesting convo thanks!
And you also hear both JP Dinnell and Jonny Kim when they were on, young enlisted SEALs in their early 20s at the time under Jocko say "I didnt mean to interrupt" after they made some emotionally heavy points after "interrupting," For example: "It pains me to this day I wasnt there on that assault.. where Marc was shot and killed. ... ..I didn't mean to interrupt." ~Jonny Kim
As a police trainer, I LOVE to incorporate the type of training that you mentioned...but I CANNOT convince the bean counters to give up the funds to do it...and there is case law that holds everyone responsible for funding, personally responsible for "failure to train" suits when they don't fund training...and still...no money.
You gentlemen are all outstanding human beings. Thank you for your service to this great nation of ours. Wish I could shake all your hands and thank you in person. God bless y'all.
Man I work for a billion dollar printing company and the printer that I use personally , I need at least ten minutes to get it to print one paper. Gotta open the door restart it open the door pull out the roller thing put it back in pull the paper a inch when it grabs it so it catches. I would love to office space it.
I work in I.T. I share this same feeling towards printers / scanners. I don't own a printer or a scanner for this reason. I have a company print / scan my stuff for me.
I for one am glad that you're talking about the contemporary issues facing the nation and world. I'd like to hear more of this intermixed with the history knowledge. We have our collective head stuck in the sand and I'm tired of the rising body count as a result.
1:27:49 “and one day the delta platoon commander is gonna be out of the military and he’s coming right on this podcast and he knows it, he’s fired up” Damn. RIP Seth Stone. It’s chilling to hear that now knowing what would later happen.
Heavy Topic, HEAVY QUESTIONS HEAVY TOPIC *Shuttering voice from the rear* Starting to form a question, goes into a narrative... * "Good Morning Echo." HAHAHA classic Jocko !
Been a Jocko fan for a while now and going back through to listen to some of these podcasts I missed. I was pleasantly surprised that he's a fellow Cormac McCarthy fan. Blood Meridian is one of my favorite books of all time. It stays with you.
Awesome ... I was told the day after 9-11 that I couldn't join the Marines because I was a high school drop out . I was told I could join the army but I didn't know about special forces then . So it was marines or nothing for me . It's all I wanted since I was 15 . Before that it was a fighter pilot . Had I known about the teams or green berets I would have went army . If I had a better recruiter I could have been a valuable asset
So between the books and all of the podcasts. The books that Jocko recommended. My wife asked if she could give something away to a friend and i responded, "you are cleared for giving it away"
I had a class in Junior High that was called Law and was taught by a police officer. He went over how to respond to a police officer to educate us on how to interact with cops. He also went over laws. We watched shoot or don't shoot training videos. It was one of my favorite classes. This was in Orlando Florida in about 1986.
I remember this guy Lief from the Seals training area in Pearl Harbor. He’s is a awesome cool dude! So humble!! Didn’t realize he was this badass till now. I worked on one the indoor shooting range. Big wassup to you Lief!! Wish I knew then what you was all about. I would’ve been asking for all kinds of advice.
"We have enjoyed the relative peace of post World War 2 because we had the strongest most dominant military in the world. We keep the darkness at bay. That would not have been the case if the United States and our allies had not won World War 2." Leif Babin @ 16:29
I noticed at 10:54 that as jocko was wrapping up he started shaking, and I've never felt more terrified in my life than in the moment of seeing jocko shook. On God he's for real.
I love it how Jocko finds every crazy fighting story funny hahaha. At one point right around 2:12:54 he reads a question asking how often they would take around in their body armor. Leif responds with, " All the time." And you just hear Jaco off camera chuckling LMFAO!!!! 🤣😂💀
A Baltimore jury was put on a shooting simulator where a person sits at a computer. The person at the computer can put in all types of noises, from yelling, to broken glass, to dogs barking all the while the juror had to act as law enforcement. Was the guy pulling out a cell phone or a weapon? Using a real gun with a laser vs a firing pin the juror had a split second to decide what to do! That type of training for the average citizen would be difficult. However, more juries should go through it when LE shootings are involved and more civilians need training on what to do when interacting with LE!
The thing about all SpecOps, SF, etc... is their high IQ and very quick thinking mind. I'd say all tier1 guys are easily above 120-130 in IQ. Just as fighting is nearly 75-80% psychological so is combat. These guys are sharper than the blades they carry. Thank You for ya'lls service! And knowledge that's shared!
30:24 As someone who is soon going to get the first responsibly role I ever had, this is a good point. I'll soon have a Chef in trainee under my command.
What do you think of San Soo/SCARS, asides from SEALs switching to BJJ and MMA for certain reasons? I used to do some San Soo, right now I'm doing Judo.
1:11:56 I’m hearing that they moved away from SCARS due to the need for restraining people in policing type situations. Jerry who invented SCARS was in a much different type of war in Vietnam vs. GWOT. Jiu Jitsu is the “gentle way” whereas SCARS is made for killing. I would love to hear more from Jocko or another 90s SEAL on this.
Love having Echos opinions & questions for us Civilians. It’s a good mix on this podcast
I find it totally unacceptable that Leif is not doing movie trailer voice overs.
*leif voice*
"In a world...where good triumphs over evil...one man......will risk it all"

BOOM....Jocko Willink...Coming this fall...
This is an incredible comment. Bravo, sir.

If you stand in the same room as Leif and Jocko does that count as testosterone replacement therapy?
It certainly does
It certainly does
most def🔥💯
Any gender questions? lol
Hahaha

2 things:
1.) I wish I had Leifs voice
2.) Leif needs to get back on the podcast stat
How to get rich in 2 easy steps: Step 1: Get Jocko elected president. Step 2: Buy stock in the company that makes Simunition.
Stefan Gruber simmunition is the brand name
10 minutes in and I already know it's going to be a great 2+ hours.
Extreme Ownership was one of the best books I've read in a very long time. I'm actually thinking about reading it again.
Watching this years later. What a sick podcast. Love Leifs expressions.
"he's gettin smoked"

Lol..the thought of Jocko negotiating with his 7 year old daughter is so cute!!!
Brilliant!
E.C. is the shit. He's not on camera much; and when he isn't I think he is curling engine blocks.
Lmao!!
@@JB0010 I don't think he likes him much. I have no facts to back that opinion, other than the fact Jocko never mentions him.
@@patrickcenkush519 why would he have someone on his podcast if he doesn’t like him ? He even grapples with him, that’s just how grown men are patrick
@@juangiraldo8765 Right on! He had David on the podcast, & they've rolled together? That's awesome! I'm only on podcast # 91.
This is my favorite episode. From the very start it's captivating and then just the combination of Jocko and Leif is a great dynamic
Indeed. Getting some great insight!
'Tortured Genius' is now a permanent part of my vocabulary. Thanks, Leif!
An excellent podcast about leadership and mentoring. I'm ''mentoring'' someone right now at work, I definitely learned so much from this
Listened to Pantera and Metalica properly for the first time after listening to the podcast, got to say i'm impressed to say the least.
You gentlemen are all outstanding human beings. Thank you for your service to this great nation of ours. Wish I could shake all your hands and thank you in person. God bless y'all.
Love when Leif is on the Podcast.
Leif is like 5 '9
Just stumbled upon this today through the "recommended for you" section. Seriously interesting stuff, cheers for a good podcast.
How does this Podcast only have 209,529 views??? you'd think it would have like 2 million! This is quality stuff!
Thank you for this podcast.. This motivates ..off to sleep = up at 04:32 really works for me.
Been waiting for this! Every time I get a new Jocko podcast it feels like Christmas.

It’s a shame guys like this don’t run the country. Would be a totally different America.
I work in I.T. I share this same feeling towards printers / scanners. I don't own a printer or a scanner for this reason. I have a company print / scan my stuff for me.
So much leadership knowledge in these episodes with Leif. Incredible 🇺🇸

The NFL analogy was perfect! I love these and I’m sad I’m just getting around to listening to these. Glad I can just binge though. Hahahaha

really love the social / political commentary on today's world, i think you should really do more of it.
hey guys love the podcast.. actually like watching it better. thanks for all you do!!!!!!!!
This discussion on evil is a must for everyone to hear and be confronted with. We are ALL in this whether people realize it or not.
Leif Babin is awesome - we love listening to him on the podcast!
1:02:50 Rightfully placed passion coming from a normally very composed man.
1:11:55 what about Paul Vunak training 1987 Seal team 6, or Frank Cucci in early 90s out of Va. Beach? 🤔💪
Damn... That done brought a tear to my eye.
God bless you Saint Marc Lee. God bless you Sailor.
Timing is everything in life, started from #1 over time im now on #34 and with everything going on right now in the world, its intriguing
Another excellent podcast. Thank you for reminding me to remember.
The Metallica v. Pantera Convo made me very happy. 🤘

i miss these old podcasts where theres actual work done on them; chapters, brief overviews in the title... you dont see that nowdays.
I definitely would love to hear Jocko and Leif singing “We are the world “
This closing is heavy bout had me in tears thinking about the ones we lost in Iraq, RIP to them all.
This guys voice is incredible. Plus he’s a great interview.
Wow, amazing speach Jocko!
Always something to learn. more than a lesson learned.
We need all the good men in Congress yall need to save this country.

I always wondered why the Military never used remote-controlled crawlers on suspected IED paths before the patrol.
They have drone cars they use nowadays
Because then the enemy would know their exact patrol path.
it got a little dusty in the room during jocko's speech, man.
Coopers Old Time BBQ! Hell yes. Babin is tha man!
25:30 cooold bloooded
Cooper's is absolutely the best BBQ in TX! I always enjoy seeing Leif on the podcast. Keep getting after it!
Jocko is spot on about teaching American citizen on how to get arrested.
love jocko's honestly talks
Kick ass man! I love it! 👍

Too bad we missed out on Seth Stone being on the podcast. :-(

That was a beautiful end to the show. The country was lucky to have Mark as one of its heros
Echo Charles, Can you do a video excerpt of Jocko's Marc Lee speech?
Nick Whitaker I could not agree more. I would make my kids listen to it.
I can’t imagen jocko in tactic clothes with helmet 😂 man this guy is war in every fiber 🤙🏻🙏
Isn’t Jocko’s finger brace backwards?

Tattoos of striations
The ending had me choking while im working

Love this podcast, men.
MATTALLICA up until the black album. 100% agree. The GREATEST ❤️
Damn, I gotta respect his pick for non-military fiction. Blood Meridian is my favorite non-SF novel.
I fixed copy machines for two years and I feel you.
Leif is back im hyped
Jocko for Prez with Leif as VP.
Make it happen.
Podcast is ON POINT! HOORAH!!
Nobody talks like this 24/7. BE YOURSELF. In all honesty it just detracts from the content. Much respect tho😊

I knew I liked Leif. Pantera baby!
