hello, so nice to see you, i have just bought an oak ridge ash hybrid as my first bow (64 year old granny), I'm really looking forward to this new lease of life and i really appreciate being able to observe you teaching what you love, thank you very much.
Another great review as usual. Like was said by others. would make a great club or starter bow. I will have to say its a bow only a mother could love! Thanks again for the great reviews Armin.
Hi Armin! I think there's a lot of beginners here, including myself, who would much appreciate a short guide on what to do when you get your first bow. For instance - how to orient the string (which part up/down), do you twist the string and on which type of bow, do you leave it strung overnight for the first day, maybe how to check for defects of damage from shipping, how to test it, what to be careful with in different types of bows (manchus, longbows etc.) I think it would be cool to see and very beneficial for all. If you find time to do it - thank you very much!
@Sarcast, This long tutorial will help you to compare different bows and benefits. Such as what is the length, which is better short or long length etc. So my friend, just keep patience to grasp deep knowledge .
Thank you for the great review Armin. I like a bow that could use some work to make it better. It becomes more personal to me. I'm going to get one of those in 35# and put my ideas to work on it.
thanks. I always recorded in full HD and it was fine, but recently I started with 4K and that filled up my memory card too quick. And from far I did not see that it stopped...
Hello ! Great video, thank you. I have a little archery club and after a robbery (someone stole our 3D target and 2 of our 6 snakes...), I'm looking into replacement for the snakes. I'll look into these ! Two questions : What arrow, lenght, spin, weight are you shooting ? And i'm interested into those haystacks. How long do they last and what size are they ? Thanks and best regards !
same arrows as we usually shoot, carbon sixhundred spine, twentynine inches long. the haybales are pressed and we get them from a local pet supply store for under twenty Euro. We have them now almost six months
Hello Armin, I've been watching your videos for 2 or 3 weeks and I'm already a fan of your channel! :) I have recently made a beginners course and it was mediterranean style (as usual in my country). I'm very interested in thumb release and I want to start with it now that I'm just learning to throw. That's why I would like to get a twin bow for practicing. Honestly, would you recommend this one over the snake? Any other option not so basic? Thanks a lot for all the knowledge you spread.
Hi, I have this bow in 40# I found online that the brace height is 6.5 and other sides said 7-7³/⁴ can somebody give me advise on that. What is a good nock height for 3 under shooting? Ps I love your reviews, great job!
Can tell it's summer here by the colour of your grass. Does the heat we are experiencing at the moment have any effect on wooden bows at all? Just wondering.
Hey, I'm thinking about getting this bow (20-25 pounds) to dip my toe into traditional archery, what sort of arrows should I buy to use with it (wooden, or carbonfiber, grain etc.)? Your videos are great by the way, relaxing and informative at the same time!
@@rogerkay8603 Thanks a bunch. I'll look into the 700 spine carbon arrows. The grain also confused me a bit since in one his videos Armin briefly mentions something about 10 grains per pound. Searching around I find a lot of debate about that though, so I guess it's more of a guideline than a firm rule?
@@preacher3670 Yes, grains are a weight similar to grams, so we talk about GPI for arrows, or Grains Per Inch. A 28" carbon arrow could be around 7.5 GPI = 28 x 7.5 = 210, then you add the weight of the point (60, 80, 100 grains up to 145 or more), vanes or feathers and nock - try to achieve around 350 plus grains per arrow, too light could damage the bow, too heavy and you lose speed/range. Don't worry too much about it though, any off the shelf carbon arrow with standard feathers, nock and points should be fine. Too weak a spine though will affect flight (left or right) as will too stiff but better slightly stiff than too weak.
@@ArminHirmer good to know! I'm looking for a bow under $200-$300 us max. Do you have any recommendations for a beginner. 30# draw. Wood look bow, not colored or leather wrapped
@@parthianworrior5874 HI. Thanks, I personally do not overly care about the hype with this virus. all will be good - at least for a while again until they start the next pandemic, just in time when the vaccine will be available :)
Just wondering if the sound reduced over time? In other words, which is the quietist bow? The snake bow or mongo bow? I’m looking for something that doesn’t freak out the neighbours horses when I shoot it. My old recurve causes small stampedes due to the sound it makes and I’m interested in horseback archery.
€160 for this bow now... bit overpriced for what you get by the look of it, I´d also rather have the left or right shelf option instead of it being ambidextrous, good review otherwise.

Mr. Armin Thanks for The Review. Allways love see you shooting in the morning. Great Day for All in Malta✌

An interesting bow for the price Armin. As you say the 20lb version would be great for clubs.

I would love to see an ILF bow that is able to shoot from both sides of the riser...
Great review as usual :-)
Very nice bow ✌
Strange... Impossible to find anything from Oak Ridge "factory/bower" no facebook no internet... just people selling their bows.
Oak Ridge is a brand of SSA archery of Belgium .
I was shown a longbow at my club. Was not supposed to hold that one drawn.
What about this one?
I like to draw and point slow.
laminated bows like this one are fine to hold in full draw, just pure lets say one piece long bows not
very nice review...
Lovely Review about both Bows.. but why did camera stopped?

I don't know should I buy the Mongo or Viridian. I like the Mongo because it's more minimalistic, but the Viridian seems better quality

not too much influence, we simply keep them out of direct sun as good a s possible

Depends on your draw length, but carbon shafts spined around 700 should do it. Or wooden arrows rated for 25lb recurve.
