I recently finished Circe by Madeline Miller, which is a great and different perspective on some of the Greek heroes and mythological characters from the Odyssey. I also finished Snuff by Terry Pratchett, the final book in his Discworld City Watch series, which was amazing and fun. Im currently reading Malice by John Gwynne and re-reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
@thenostalgicdragon if you like the Odyssey and the Illiad, I think you should like Circe. One warning is that there is a scene with sexual violence. So far I'm liking Gwynne! I'm half way through Malice, which is the first in a quartet, and I'm really enjoying what he is seeing up for the rest of the story. Good characters, interesting themes, and a neat setting - it has a strong Celtic inspiration, with some Roman as well.
Do you live in Sweden or why did you choose a Swedish translation of the Iliad in particular? I might try to read that translation if I can find it. Reading Titus Groan, the first book of the Gormenghast trilogy at the moment.
@@thenostalgicdragonbooks So do I. If you ever have a chance you should read Krönikan om den Femte Konfluxen by Erik Granström. It is one of my all time favorite fantasy series. It is full of mythological depth and has a wonderful command of the Swedish language. It is also very dark and reminds me in many ways of Erikson's writing. I met the author once and he told me one of his primary inspirations was The Kalevala. The books are long, but it is so unpredictable and imaginative that it would be worth your time.
Currently re reading Hyperion by Dan Simmons. One of my favorites.
Sounds interesting!
