The Dead made up my life!!! Jerry Garcia and Brent will always be remembered as outstanding musicians. My Father played in a Dead cover band for 37 years. We lost him to cancer in 2022. The Dead still make up my life’s story. They will always have all of my love.
There is nothing in this world that makes me feel the way I do when I hear The Grateful Dead. It hits a spot in my heart that cannot be replicated. I am forever grateful.
You couldn’t be more correct, my friend. Not a day goes by since Jerry passed that I haven’t listened to the Dead. Not a single. day. They mean as much to me as my wife and son. Jerry’s death was the saddest day I’ve ever experienced. More so than the day I was told I had cancer. I love these guys. And I gotta say, whatever your opinion on Dead&Co, go see them, if you haven’t already. Love ya, friend. Stay healthy. 💀⚡️🌹
I was taken to Dead shows as a kid by 5 older brothers and sisters starting in 1976 as a 4 year old. Hundreds of shows into my 30s later I can’t ever imagine my life without Jerry. I miss him.
When life threatened to overwhelm me, I could always count on this amazing band to bring relief and calm, entertain me! What joy and comfort they provided over the years ❤
"By 1980, 'Fire On The Mountain' was almost exclusively played only when it was joined to 'Scarlet Begonias.' This version, though, makes a unique appearance late in the third set on its own from the famous Halloween 1980 show at Radio City Music Hall, featured on the Dead Ahead video." -David Lemieux
My daughter and her husband are taking me to the Grateful Dead concert in Chicago June 2023 for my 50th birthday. Looking forward to the concert the trip and all the memories.
They played there for a week so had to start early to make sure all of their guest got there ! I gave more all the time , it was worth every minute of it , so much fun being the girl in control of the after parties !
WOW!!!!! This was on Dead Set, my first tape and the version of 'Fire' I had engrained in my brain. I was a ski bum in Utah and this was on my brain when I was tearing down sunny Alta/Snowbird tripping, straight. DREAMT of making a movie someday doing powder turns to this opening beat. Well, eventually did. Thanks technology. Thanks Jerry.💥🏔🔥
Going to see the Grateful Dead June 2023 with my daughter and her husband for my 50th birthday. Should be a wonderful experience and definitely a once in a lifetime since the dead are ending their tours next year.
Tribal, always loved the moments when the Dead would be tuning their instruments before a song and everyone in the audience would be trying to decide which song is coming. Then, now and forever Gratefully Dead.
Dead Set was my introduction to the band. I ❤it. It will always hold a special place for me. Crazy that this version of Fire On The Mountain was just posted as I was just watching the 10 minute plus version of this exact performance on this channel about an hour or so ago. It appears I got the update late as I just got it a few minutes before this posting.
I'm third row Jerry side, if my memory is correct. Near a week camped outside RCMH lol for these tickets. Scored all Jerry sides, because I was 16 and very simple in my priorities. Brought my guitar [which was and still is the same acoustic Jerry used in these shows btw, minus the electronics) along and basically played requests on the street. By the time the tickets went on sale, the streets we filled, and the line for the ticket window went on for blocks. Hello everyone. And to the person who asked me if I knew how to play Mountains of the Moon, I still do.
I remember coming home from High School and watching Dead Ahead on VHS....Live at Radio City....man, I miss Jerry...."Takes a whole pail of water just to slow him down" 😎✌️
When i fell blue is Fire on the Mountain... When i fall down is Fire on the Mountain... When I cry is Fire on the Mountain When I smile is Fire on the Mountain
Halloween Show, 10-31-80. Went into NFA from there. I remember every minute of it. In contrast, I can't remember why I just went into the kitchen. I'm guessing there's a correlation there.....
My wife, born and raised (into her 20"s) in Mainland China. She knows nothing of the Grateful Dead. When I hear the Grateful Dead (especially Fire on the Mountain) I grab her and we dance. As such, she is conditioned to love this music.
at a buffet, i personally sneak corndogs into the buffet so others can enjoy them. I hide 6 corndogs in my jacket pockets. it then, is a joy for me to see other patrons of the establishment eat my corndogs thinking they were part of the buffet.
This is a great video and song, but it's the 3rd time you've uploaded this version to the account pretending like it's new. Give us back the weekly uploads with new material.
This is the year that I met all the band plus all the family belonging to the Gratefuldead ! I was beyond description plus I was so high on my own stuff 95% pure ! I swear on any deadheads head which I wouldn’t put in harms way ! ❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹☮️❤️🔥💥🪐👽👻
Bless your heart, Bunny! Jerry changed my life for the better. A part of me died that day in August of ‘95. He meant as much to me as my wife and son. The music though…! The music still lives on in our hearts. And the memories! My God, the memories! Love ya, Bunny. Stay healthy wherever you are. 💀⚡️🌹
Dead Ahead is great and wonderful, I must've watched it a million times! But, if it's not asking too much, I'd like to see more footage of what wasn't included on Dead Ahead. One can hope and dream right?? Please and thank you! 🙂
Veggie burritos and grill cheeses and sometimes a veggie stew or something even better but the first two were items I could get into a show. I still remember the time that I had a grilled cheese clutched in my hand through much of the show or atleast one of the sets. I think I finally wrapped it in a shirt for back up nutrition, post show.
Funny I was at the 10/30/80 Radio City Music Hall show. Remember Billy Cobham joinlng the rythem devils, but this official Gd realeased vidéo is from Halloween 🎃 Space into Fyah how' d they miss that? 10/31/80
I was here :) or there? Actually both... I was in charge of the blue dolphin my friends with tickets missed train into city. 7 quads later, leaning on a lamp post, and suddenly the fire escape doors broke loose behind me. They, pulling on those outside doors, all fell down when it gave and I turned around and walked right in. Up one set of fire escape stairs, banged on door which was opened quickly. Walked into 1st level and hoped over rail and sat between two people as guards came running to secure doors. Person to right handed me a big 5 gallon size jug with wine ( spiked) and the other handed me a doobie. That was that... Threw me off when they opened in acoustic, but what a night i'd say...
This has been uploaded to the GD channel twice already. This is the third time the official GD channel has uploaded this video. Also the date is wrong this time!
This is the year that I met Jerry & we got together for the 1 st time then went on to New York & stayed there for a week in 2 different hotels during the Halloween shows & the people that couldn’t get in tore the steel doors off & got in ! I don’t know how they did it but we watched it until they opened the backstage doors for us because we almost got sucked in with that crowd ! 😱🤪😜😝🥳😍🥰😘✌️🫶🏼💀🌹❤️
You know the years of cigarettes and pour health gave Jerry voice charm it didn't have here in this performance. My favorite version of "Fire" is the first one I saw in Hampton in '88. And I prefer Jerry's raspy voice. His voice here sounds weak.
@@PrimitiveInTheExtremeYeah, definitely a unique contribution to the Canon, this Band! :] I'm kind of a bad Dead Head... I prefer their old Studio Albums. Like "Working Man's Dead".

50 years later and Im still loving this tune.
This song was on my first grave of dead bootleg cassette didn't know what it was unbelievable where is Jerry when you need them
Phil’s bassline really does it for me.
It's a timeless song with a great story/message. The more that you give, the more it will take. To the thin line beyond you really can't fake.
