How to Blur Background in WhatsApp Video Calls on iPhones and Samsung Galaxy Phones

Finally fixed this. For samsung users, start a video call in WhatsApp then swipe down and down again and you should see a button called "video effects" top left hand side. Select that and some buttons will pop up on the screen. Fro. There you ca. Play around with the settings. Well this worked for me, june 2024

The portrait mode on iPhone renders the background a bit blurry but not enough to make it indecipherable unfortunately. It would be useful for Whatsapp to add the blurry background feature to the app.

Does “Effects” only appear when you are on a WhatsApp video call because I swiped down and it is not on my control centre

I have a Samsung s23 ultra and this feature doesn't work anymore? If i go to settings it doesn't give me the option to turn the effects on or off. I can go into it but the backgrounds given won't change. Now my whatsapp camera is permanently stuck with blurred background

Go to Settings for the phone itself, not the settings for WhatsApp
