Thanks! I've always practiced standards by playing them a capella and recording myself. I want to be able to listen back to it and go to any point in the solo and know exactly where I am by listening, and also be able to jump from beginning to middle to end and have it be the same tempo.
Dave, these solo sax videos have been amazing for me to practice my piano comping and walking bass. Not to mention your playing is killer, but even having tracks like this to "comp along" to has been super helpful for me. Wanted to give you kudos for the great playing and let you know how much they've helped me
Wow Dave, really one of the smoothest covers of this one that I have ever heard! Incredible sound and articulation. I also just uploaded a cover (guitar, harmonica and singing) so that's why I got this recommended probably. Anyway, I subscribed and looking forward for more, all the best.
Dave, you sound so fantastic! I just could not love your playing anymore than I already do. You are the complete package! So glad you are enjoying the mouthpiece so much. Such a joy to hear you play!
Dave, this is a masterpiece!! Lovely connections and voice leading! You also put some modern substitutions! Thanks for sharing your talent and wisdom on your other videos!🙏🏼
You seem to be diggin' those 10MFan mouthpieces! Is there a major difference between the hard rubber and ultem materials? You seem to like the ultem for tenor and hard rubber for alto.
I'm actually going to be getting this mouthpiece in ULTEM very soon! I don't think there's much sound or feel difference...honestly I just prefer the look!
@@DavePollack See, that's why I like you... None of this "it adds a depth of sound and blah blah blah," just the honest truth that it looks cooler, and I agree it does (for the same price!).
Hi, I tell people all the time that the hard rubber and orange Ultem pieces sound so similar that there really aren’t any noticeable differences. I always tell everyone just to pick the one they like the look of better because that’s really what it comes down to. You can get the black hard rubber with the gold paint, or the orange Ultem pieces with the black paint. Both sound great and they are the same exact price.
@@DavePollack I'm gonna post a video on my Instagram in the next couple of days and I also have a pdf I can send people! I will tag you when I post it!!
man i love the sound of this mouthpiece but its super expensive and im a lowkey broke highschool w no job 😔 LOL any cheaper alternatives you know of? love your music btw keep on doing great things!
Justin, How much did the saxophone you play on cost? I can tell you for sure, that it cost much more than this mouthpiece. :) Its funny how players will buy horns from $1000-$8000 lets say, and they won't spend $365 on a mouthpiece? How backwards is that????? Well, after 30+ years of being a pro player, I can tell you.... its backwards. :) The sound is almost all mouthpiece, so people need to invest in that. This mouthpiece is an all original design and hand finished by the best in the business. $365 is a steal for a lifetime with a GREAT sound.
mark sepinuck haha the process is backwards youre not wrong about that. ive been doing a rent to own option for my horn and yeah youre right, the overall price does cost more than what im looking for to spend on a mouthpiece. but hey ya gotta understand that sometimes people don’t really believe that a mouthpiece can do wonders and that it should be that expensive. my dad being one of those people😅 if it were up to me and if i had the money id definitely purchase that mouthpiece no doubt. but hes been providing for me and paying for the horn as well as gear and if i cant convince him the mouthpiece is worth that much if not more then hey, guess ill have to wait til i start working and making money to buy it on my own. $365 is a steal no doubt, and I understand that the mouthpiece is just as important if not more important than the instrument, but i cant really convince someone who’s not a saxophonist or any instrumentalist for that matter to understand ya know?
The urge to transcribe this is strong
Whoa, I'd be honored!
I need that! Please do it!
Same! It’s just long enough that Ii can do it in one or two sittings. I’m going to do it.
Thank you!
I think I’m with you too, do you know what key this is in so I can have a baseline for the changes?
I have seen this video like 70 times and finally just started to transcribe it, beginner jazz alto sax player here!!

My students Will be mandated to subscribe here to hear what a good sound ,articulation and lyricism are. I always check it out with no “orders”😁
I really appreciate the kind words! So glad you dig it so much.
I don't think I get as much enjoyment out of any saxophone content than through yours Dave. Sounds awesome as always.
Wow - thanks so much! I really appreciate that.
Wow, keeping the Tempo like this!! You did a very Good Job, i could hear the harmony so well! Thats a thing I always struggle when playing solo sax

This is a great beginner tune to learn, covers a great range and is in the alto's native (C) key -- Eb!
