      & the barbudos were sent to Angola across the Atlantic with men & heavy military hardware allegedly under their own power
      (barbudos boss claimed so, denying any soviet initial help)
      but that was to defeat the FNLA in the North & then guarding the uttermost northern exclave of oil-bloated Cabinda.
      For Rockefeller's Standard Oil. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      They played mercenaries in Ethiopia too, for the ''post-revolution comrades'' of the Mengistu red mob who were quicker in the draw than their ill-fated non-red com-rats of the 1974''revolution'', their accomplices in the murder of Emperor Haile Selassie.
      The barbudos mercenaries also with soviet help crushed the Eritrean indepen-dance front until then soviet-supported,
      & the until then soviet-supported Somali army in their Ogaden war against the Mengistu regime in 1977.
      The show-off-prone barbudos even played airborne against the Eritreans in the fight to secure the railway to Djibouti.
      But the Mengistu red thugs were finding out they were biting too much more than their barbudos teeth could chew.
      So in 1980, adipose-leonid told the psychopath Mengistu that he'd be on his own.
      The rest is bloody history.
      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Back to Angola, in a 1987 outburst, Savimbi complained by revealing the hunchback's $ecret of Cabinda & sealed his fate
      with Standard Oil who didn't appreciate.
      Don't forget that under Reagan, the $$$$tate dept was in the hands of the George Schulz Californian bunch who were nutting but leftists.
      & oh, the red mpla leader Agnostino Neto was taken care rather early, in 1979 by the soviet surgeons who forgot some surgeon knife in his stomach after a surgical operation on him performed in Moscow.

    MPLA was not the biggest force, they were the ones who had most support from USSR. What has given them importance, is that they were the forces present in the capital region (Kimbundo), and held to it until now. All the country's ressources made the 'president's' family ultra rich, they don't care about Angolans.
    Also Chipenda was assassinated during what was supposed to be a peace agreement, (in Zaire, If I remember correctly). And what were Cubans doing in Angola? Carrying diamonds home!

    Shell oil asked the Americans for help to protect their oil refineries in Luanda and because the owners of Shell, Holland, supported the ANC terrorist movement, they could not ask the South African government for help. The Americans did not have the balls for another war like Vietnam. From the early 70's South African government used military conscription and forced every white male school leaver, to go fight American's dirty oil war. If you refused to fight you were sent to jail for the same period as which you were expected to serve in military. Did you hear him say it was a lot easier if the young guy's girlfriend of mother asked him to go to war. What bullshit! You were threatened with two years in jail if you did not go. No matter what anyone tells you, the Cubans and Russians got their backsides kicked all the time. On a last note...when we were on the outskirts of Luanda, barely 5 miles out, the word came from Army HQ for us to fall back and retreat back to SA. Later we heard the Americans changed their mind. Now this war is blamed on the young white soldier from South Africa who had no say or option but to fight or go to jail. We were all brainwashed that we are fighting the red onslaught of communism. Maybe true but today I have more genuine and compassionate Russian friends than the United States of zombies with their attitude of entitlement.

    • @LeonKotze70
      @LeonKotze70 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Chris, let's be honest. If we did not fight that war, the ANC would have taken over SA long before 94, and that would have turned us into another Cuba...
      I am not talking about the initial move to take Luanda, but the war in general.
      There was a time a couple of years ago that I myself had a big distaste for that war, today I thank every sacrifice that was made, although it just bought us some time as SA will eventually turn into just another failed state.

    • @robertporter4501
      @robertporter4501 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      LOL, I like your attitude. I was conscripted during the 60s, but didn't regard it as anything more than conscription similar to that in Britain and the USA - although I came to regard the U.S. conscription a sloppy bad joke with rich boys not turning up and the poorer guys doing the service. Good to see you not backing off about the Russians and Cubans getting hammered. You were fighting what could have been a 'red onslaught', but also disgustingly used for special interests. Among too many Americans there is a nauseating attitude of entitlement, but it seems to me that today this affects most of the West.

They perished in numbers as a result but their spirits were not broken. Thanks to USSR, China, Cuba and other friends that helped Africans fight injustice of colonialism and its proxies. My biggest worry now is corrupt leadership, former freedom fighter rewarding themselves as an entitlement. Some want to rule for ever, some are puppets of western ideals - This are hurdles Africans must overcome. Castro was worried at his high death rate of casualtys and made up the concocted story he was victorious but nearly every battle was won by the south Africans. The south Africans didn't want to go into angola in the first place but the arrival of communist forces changed that. swapo never won one engagement and were soundly beaten. inkontwe sizwe had their arses kicked and were hopeless. mandela just made up the story of how castro was so successful in squashing apartheid. this is total lefty nonesence, lies, the south Africa public were at odds with apartheid and just gave the country to the anc. . castros African marxist revolution adventure was a failure. added to that humiliating situation for the cubans they faced only 3000 south African troops wo were totally outnumbered by the marxists. If south Africa had called up its 140 000 strong army the Cubans would have been totally destroyed.Added to this south Africa had most of the world against it as well as sanctions placed on it. The left are master at lying and propaganda and subversion they simply have to lie because they cant tell the TRUTH. The lefty bbc lied ad nauseum in the early 90s, and its gotten even worse lying on a continuous basis( to its own british public who see right through its false subversive lefty agenda )now as the left hate President Trump, and are trying to get rid of him, but failing because the people of America know how the lefty media is fake news and lying continuously for their Marxist liberal agenda. The Marxist videos on utube are a total joke they are Pathetic and amateur full of lies. The Cubans and mpla casualty rate/losses were very high. the left have subversively changed the history and the true facts. the SADF, despite its planes were old and dated, were a superior fighting professional force in the field and were destroying the Cubans. Had the Cubans entered SWA Namibia the SADF would have destroyed them. Today the situation in south africa In 2017 a million people have been murdered in south Africa since apartheid ended in 94. and 3/4s million woman raped, 3 month old babies raped and 4500 innocent white productive farmers gruesomely murdered, ethnically cleansed, by the corrupt innept lefty socialist racist anc government in south Africa. In 2017 the left still pushes its cultural marxist ideology in the west and the liberals have sided with the Marxists . the lefty media lying daily nonstop to achieve this lefty agenda.

    It’s great they got Lucio Lara to participate in this documentary. Sadly though he’s in full ideological rhetoric mode thus his otherwise indispensable insight is nullified somewhat.
    “We were alone, poorly equipped, poorly trained” ...no Lucio we’ve already established that the MPLA had _substantial_ Soviet/Cuban backing by the mid 70s, including receipt of numerous arms shipments and extensive training since the early 60’s! Good grief.
    A wasted opportunity.
    Addendum: And Castro’s full of it too! All this ‘we (Cuba) intervened on our own volition, Moscow didn’t know anything about it’ cobblers. Cuba militarily intervened in Angola at the DIRECT BEHEST of Moscow! That’s an established, irrefutable fact not mere speculation.

      Calling people full of it is defeating your arguments. Before 1975, they all got good junk of helps from Africa and elsewhere in the world. As a Guinean by birth, my father Before he was arrested and killed by Sekou Toure was very much involved with what we called in French ( les mouvements de lutte de libération) from the neighboring Guinea Bissau to Mozambique. Holden Roberto at one point had Guinean diplomatic passport. The late Lucio Lara and Iko Careira were both teachers at institut polytechnique de Conakry. To make long story short, there were hardly clean hands during Angolan tragedy. MPLA, UNITA and FLNA were all in la lutta together until the spoiled of war divided them. Mais ça c'est une partie de l'histoire qui reste à écrire.

      Henry Kissinger eventually admitted in his memoirs that the Cubans intervening in Angola had nothing to do with the Soviet Union. Your addendum of "established, irrefutable fact" is pure anglo american propaganda whether you realise it or not.
      17:19 "The congress would've stopped us if we hadn't successfully lied to them." Will you ever learn?

      Cuba intervened against the soviets. I had family members in the high part of Minit and FAR. The Cuban government disliked the soviet way of thinking but again they needed equipment. The Russians used to call the Cuban conflictive.
