    You have the best 1:1000 refit lighting video that I can find of youtube.

    Your window holes really give it a sense of scale. Looks terrific.

    Red circles go on the docking ports.

      That's what I thought as well, I was looking for this comment before I said something.

      Snap, thought he would have sussed that out, but a beautiful build, but the LEDs on the engines spoil it for me, 4 searchlights instead of subtle strip lights.

      I did actually figure it out recently; those tiny red rings were supposed to go on each of the navigation lights, but there were no directions on the box that provided those instructions. There’s a webpage that explains that along with the differences between the Enterprise refit and the Enterprise-A; but I agree on the critique with the lighting hotspots. It’s why I went back and recently completed the Enterprise-A, cause I wanted to redo it with better lights and bring in new things I’ve learned to the Constitution , cause I was very green in building with lights last year.

    Thanks! I'm just finishing up the Polar Lights Grissom and Klingon BOP and this is next on my list, so it's super helpful.

    I've always been curious about this kit, and the other Polar Lights Kits. I have the Grissom but still have yet to put it together as I need to get all the LEDs and stuff for it. It will be my first lighted kit before I attempt the AMT Fiber optic Enterprise D, and then the Revell 1/600 JJPrise from Into Darkness, which will be a huge undertaking.
    Nice work on this build!
    It turned out exceptionally well and is absolutely awesome!
    Great work on the video and editing as well. That's always the hard part for me. LOL
    Take care and happy building!

    That's great to see! I will do the Motion picture 1000 scale ships soon and this helps me planing the builds. I will probably go with custom lighting but now I know that modifying the kit won't be much of a problem. Your model turned out great, really good job!

    I have SO many kits ready to build and am looking at EVERYONE'S techniques here on TH-cam. I'm not new to building scale models...I just DON'T want to screw up!!! Also, a few health issues slowing me down lately BUT? After the Hip Replacement surgery I might be just as "Right As Rain!" ("Young Frankenstein" reference)......

    Awesome, man! I build a lot of Gunpla, and these Star Trek kits have been on my rader, but I've never taken the plunge because the prospect of painting, applying decals, and lights frightens me somewhat (only ever really done snap builds w/ panel lining on my Gunpla models).
    Anyway, looks great. Hope to see more in the future!

    Airius, loved the video. I am a beginner, but I think I'm "good enough" to try to follow in your footsteps on this one since this didn't involve any of the crazier paint jobs I've seen out there. By any chance, is there a list of supplies you'd recommend for a newbie to take a shot at doing this one? You gave great detail regarding the stickers and such.

      I’d invest in a decent airbrush setup, and I use acrylic paints. You’d need some sort of modeling putty to get the seems, and some tools to help you sand down, file, or grind certain areas. That would be for just sanding parts off the sprue, putty for smoothing seems, and for modifying parts, should you decide to take the step to light you kits. I’m still gathering new things as I’m progressing in my model builds, so just start simple and let your mind take off from there.

    Does the aztecing come with the model?

    • @Airius84329
      @Airius84329  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, unfortunately. The original 2009 kit of the Refit had those in the box (I actually did an Enterprise-A with this kit when I found one on eBay, and used my leftover -A decals from the 2020 Refit kit), but you can find them bundled with the Reliant aztecing decal. You can still find them for sale at culttvmanshop.com, and just search for “Enterprise/Reliant Aztec decals”. I think I got mine off Amazon, and eBay should have them too.

    Can the model light up without the stand?

    • @Airius84329
      @Airius84329  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the wires are just passing through the stand. Only the last three models I did have a TenaControls board installed on the bottom of the stand, just for ease of access, but no model is hardwired to function with the stand (just need it to stand, haha).

    Is there any vid on how to do the lighting?
    My first time using leds

    • @Airius84329
      @Airius84329  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check out the lighting tutorial from Star Trek Model Kit Previews. It’s the one I happen to stumble upon when I decided to do my own lights. If you had obtained a prefabricated lighting kit, like I had gotten with this one, it should have hopefully provided instructions, but I’m actually planning on redoing this ship, or at least doing an Enterprise-A, with my own lights.

    What color and brand paint did you use on the clear parts? I hate the way mine looks

    • @Airius84329
      @Airius84329  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I believe I would have used Tamiya Clear Red and Clear Blue for the clear parts. For this ship, I didn’t have the knowledge to diffuse the light, so there are hotspots with the LEDs shining bright through the plastic. I usually just give the internal side of the part a few coats of white paint, but that’s if you’re planning to light it. If not, I’ve heard doing the inside in silver before the actual color on the outside will give a little bit of pop for the clear parts to “shine” over the hull color.

    When painting the clear parts, did you paint on both sides or just the inside?
