I thought they did a great job with the movie, but I wish they made Kya more wild. They made her seem so tame in the movie vs. book Kya. Kya would neeevvvver be seen on a public beach. And they left the part of Tate returning 15 days after July 4th with an apology ready for being so late but watched her get spooked by a person that was nearby and her animal-like behaviors are what led him to abandon her before returning again years later.
I haven't read the book but I agreed with all your observations about the movie, its casting, and how the story was told. I also really liked the portrayal of young Kya - I don't know her name - but that kid did a pretty good job!
Read the book and just seen the movie. My take... both are wonderful. I just wish the film slowed down more. I adored the details, tension, and build up of the book and I just felt like the film rushed alot (personal opinion), I understand why. But still lol 😆.
@@jordanmolinarisuggs I can get that if you take the movie as a whole. Without the extra content it did feel slow for the story to move, but with extra content it felt way to fast at least for me haha not enough detail.
I have not read the book, but I was awe struck by the complete lack of evidence against Kya during her trial. I couldn’t understand how any district attorney would bring such a weak case to trial, and why the judge just didn’t dismiss case after the prosecution rested? Is the evidence against her stronger in the novel?
I, too, found the evidence against Kya to be pretty weak. The evidence against her in the film is pretty similar to the evidence against her in the book.
@@AdamWrightReviews I agree completely with this! However I think in the book when it came to the case itself, it played out better in the book than movie! For example, the book gave a lot more details as to why Kya was hated than in the movie showing small clips here and there, which really made a huge difference in the movie to me.
Just finished the book the other day and LOVED it and just come out of the film which I enjoyed! I thought it was a good adaptation, interesting slight change on the ending and some lack of evidence in trial and structure of certain things but I thought the book was great at building tension. I get the film cutting to the chase a bit more which of course makes sense. Overall, I enjoyed both a lot!
Hello Adam! I just saw the movie here in Mexico, with the Spanish title LA CHICA SALVAJE, that is, "The Wild Girl" (Or The Marsh Girl), though it was released about 2 weeks ago and I enjoyed the film more than I originally expected, especially the ending. The story told in the movie and the novel has more than meets the eye. Thanks for your excellent review, it helped me a lot on deciding to go and see this movie 👍
Read the book and saw the movie...Enjoyed both! I thought the Cinematogophy in the movie, the casting and staying true to the book all blended together for a great movie. The book was fantastic.
I absolutely enjoyed the film adaptation I was planning on reading the book but changed my mind once I found out about the author delia Owen's past behavior
The movie was good and I’ll watch it again but the book was better because it was more in depth but the movie was pretty well adapted. I just wish Tate had his red ball cap on the whole movie like in the book, it added that question of what if it was Tate who killed chase all along? At least that’s how it was for me, I get why they didn’t want to risk covering the actors face but it was mentioned enough in the book that it seemed purposeful and I think they could’ve kept it in the movie
Both are good. I thought the movie tried to make it more of a WHO DONE IT with the red cap. It was not Tate's cap in the book. The movie wants you to think that maybe Tate did it.

Happy I found your channel! I haven't read the book or watched the movie yet, but after your review, I definitely will. Thank you.
Awesome!

That’s really interesting because I saw the movie without reading the book and thought the first half of the movie was too slow

I liked both the book and movie equally, which I almost never do. Like Adam, I didn't miss Amanda Hamilton in the movie.

It's bassed in the 50s/60s corrupt law enforcement and Judges was definitely a bigger problem back then.

That’s great to hear Amilcar! I’m glad you enjoyed the movie.

Totally agree. Thanks for commenting!

This move don't deserve 33% on rotentomatoes. It's much much better than most movie based on popular drama books.
