You know its funny.... You guys have such an amazing musical heritage and yet most of the stuff that comes from the Isle in last 10-15 years is mediocre at best. What happened? As a thought - why not let the Scotts or Welsh go nuts with their folk stuff? I think the world would be blown away. I know I will be :) Same goes for Irish. I mean just look at their performance this year. Pitiful... What happened guys?
Yes I think it s really a Shame, that the UK sends such average singers to such a Great Event like this.. I mean UK COME ONNNN!!! you re the Nation, where the fucking Beatles, the Stones, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd,sex Pistols Duran Duran, Culture Club, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, skunk anansie, Garbage, Zero 7 and 1000.000 other exceptional Artists were born... The Land of All the new musical Genres, which took the World by Storm and influenced Generations.... And what we got this year? While Lands like Ukrain, Italy, Cyprus, Malta, Moldova, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Greece and any others sent interesting and various artists... We got a "slightly" oversize pop singer in a leather dress with big trumpets on the sides, singing a mellow pop song... You gotta fucking Rebel to these selections in the UK.. I m sure the scene is full of great artists and next year I want the UK, to really show, where the Great pop music came from in the first place, ok???

Is this the best Eurovision ever ? So many great songs: Italy, Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Iceland, Switzerland, Belgium, Lithuania, Malta.
All 26 of them are actually good. Even Spain, UK and France came up with something decent this year
Definitely one of the best ESCs ever. Imho 2020 would've been a little better, but not by a big margin

It is much more deeper and bigger then just words. It is calling of our (not only ukrainian) roots. Thats why all of us love it!

This is a very old traditional song for invoking spring. The Shum (noise) in this song is a mythological personage, the spirit of the forest ( and his name Shum means sounds and voices of the forest) When people sing this song (it calls vesnyanka from the name of vesna - spring) , make noise and dance, they call on this spirit, and he rather brings spring.This is the meaning of this song. The tempo grows all the time, reaching a peak, as in ritual songs and dances of many nations.
She sings that she sows hemp. And the dancers imitate sowing seeds in their hands. Hemp was very important to Ukrainians. They made clothes, oil, food, ropes, medicines and much more from it.
The singer's green clothes mean the green fur coat of the spirit of the forest Shum (like a forest has green colour of leaves and grass) . Around her, the musicians form a kind of magic circle.And the dancers are holding circles of light. All these are symbols of the Sun . And the Sun rises on the stagescreen too. And then it explodes, crumbling into thousands of pieces. And the explosion of the Sun in the stagevideo reminds us of Chornodyl tragedy. And this means that nature is important for humans, that we need to be careful and respect it.
The official video clip for this song was shot in Chornobyl (now its empty town that why it looks like postapocalyptic times),where the reactor exploded. This is symbolic, because wildlife is now being revived and renewed there. And the song itself also has roots in this region of Ukraine.
People dancing near the singer symbolize the power of nature, which wakes up after winter and after any disasters.
The solar rituals of invoking spring and the sun are not only in the Ukrainian tradition, but also in the traditions of many nations of Europe and the World. And this is what fights us closer to each other.

I don't usually listen to the songs in Eurovision, to keep the element of surprise, so I only knew Maneskin's because I'm a fan of the band, and after seeing Ukraine in the semi final I instantly became obsessed with this song, it's so catchy, so good and so much pure fun to listen to!

This song is a traditional "spring song" - spring songs are ancient folk songs, they tell about the upcoming harvest, field work, this is a very old tradition,about the arrival of spring, about the arrival of spring birds, and about how nature blooms - even before Christianity tradition. She sings that she is planting hemp. Ancient Ukrainians made hemp cloth for clothes and sacks, and so on.The style of her voice is the style of Ukrainian folk singing.
