As a Mets fan since 1964 I am sad that they are not bringing Buck back This season wasn't his fault at all. He deserved next season. I wish him well and I hope the new president hires someone good.
I am very disappointed the Mets are dismissing Buck Showalter, I sure wish these guys could have played much better, because I thought he was the perfect person for this particular team. But with a new president of baseball operations, he will definitely want his fingerprint on selecting the new manager. I know he’s close with Craig counsel, but I hope he looks at two people in particular, Toronto blue jays bench coach, Don Mattingly, as well as a person who not only knows New York very well, but knows baseball as good as anyone, chipper Jones
@@dillpete4122 it’s quite elementary, chipper Jones has burned the Mets more than any other player so he knows exactly their strengths as well as their weaknesses. And also, chipper Jones is a baseball Lifer, he knows this game in and out, and will fight tooth and nail for every win in every game for every season that he is the manager.
The failure of the Mets is not Bucks fault. He did all he was supposed to do. And he even went down with the ship. One of the best managers in the game.
The failure of the team almost always means the manager will get fired, sometimes justifiably so, but in Buck’s case, I don’t think he deserved to be sacked…one could see that from spring training the team wasn’t playing well and that carried over into the regular season…after over fifty years of watching baseball or any pro sports, you realize that the games are business ventures…no one attached to the team, except perhaps the owner or owners, is indispensable …good luck Buck!
No one can ever say that Buck isnt a stand up man. But he wasn’t what this team needed this year. Good luck to him whatever he decides, Im sure he’s upset and time will tell the real story of Buck Showalter. He will probably be a hall of fame candidate.
Thank you Buck! Go from Manager of the year, to fired. This is all on the players. Yeah we hit some more HR this year, but our averages were so terrible all year. Batting averages and earned runs against average. Senga a super bright spot this year and Jose Q I think with a strong off season will be a work horse for us next year. We need to acquire a #1 and #2 starter for next year.
Buck has to take some of the blame. His job is to motivate and get the best but he didn't. He's as knowledgeable as anybody, but like Maddon and Girardi they hung around too long. Players won't say it,but they get tired of your voice and seeing you with a glum look on your face all the time.
@@vernpascal1531 Some of the blame? Sure. But he took 100% of the consequences. Motivate? To me the players played hard, but poorly. McNeil, Canha, Escobar, Narvaez, didn’t get it done offensively. Verlander and Scherzer injuries. Diaz injury and the domino effect on the pen. The kids basically a barrage of strikeouts and unproductive outs with some homers. Baty looked scared in the field, Vientos inept. Pitchers couldn’t throw strikes. With all that, Buck got the heave ho.
@@judahjones6014 The point is, you said Showalter lost the team last October. I’m saying the players blew it, not Showalter. Understand now? Stop buying into facile arguments about the manager always being at fault.
Sacrificial lamb……would have given Buck at least half a season next year but I get Stearns wants to start fresh with his own guy. Good luck to you Buck and thank you for the 2022 season.
He definitely isn’t at fault, the problem was an overzealous billionaire, who thought he could buy a championship, yes, George Steinbrenner has plenty of influence from the grave
you can tell he is upset about this, feel bad for Buck, been around the league forever and I am guessing he thought he had his best chance of winning a World Series with this team
You can thank the Mets front office for this year. They fired Sho to save front office face. Alonso will 75% walk after next year! Nobody wants wishful thinking! Cant blame Sho for front office decisions.
Buck had a great managing career but he was the most non-existent manager I ever witnessed in a dugout in my 45 years on this earth this season. It was wild to observe and quite obvious he couldn't handle the travel and daily media obligations trying to talk baseball. He was Joe Biden in a baseball uniform in 2023. He barely knew where he was.
Thanks Buck! You didn’t deserve this effing debacle. I’ve truly enjoyed Baty, Vientos, and Alvarez and their barrage of strikeouts every game for the last 2 months. Thank God this season is over today.
Buck, always a Gentleman, and a Class Act. Best of luck to you Buck,
What can I say that hasn't already been said, so I'll just say Thank you, Buck, for all you did for the Mets. It's YOU who deserve better.

I always liked Buck from the early 90's. Great baseball mind.
I hope he goes back to the MLB Network. He was terrific.
Buck is old school, for the new generation. Love him. Will miss him.
Love that Buck called out the media goons for disregarding what he was saying to be first to tweet the story.

I hope Hal has the smarts to make Buck the Yankees' bench coach in 2024. We as Yankees fans sure hope so.
MAKE HIM THE MANAGER!!!
The problem is not buck is management and the owners who clearly dont care about the team anymore nor the fans
If the Mets want a change it’s understandable But don’t think Buck was the problem Bad off-season signings had more to do with it
Same story across town.
We love buck
The best manager/teacher to never win anything
Felt bad for Buck. Should of let him come back
Wrong.
So they could go nowhere again
No manager could save this sh** show this year. Anyone who thinks differently is delusional.
New York Yankees should FIRE Boone and bring BUCK back to the Yankees for a final run for his managerial career ✅✅✅
LOL WHAT???? Have you watched a Mets game this year? Buck's mind is no longer present during a baseball game buddy.
Thanks for everything Buck.
The best manager never to win a pennant.
Hope he becomes the first coach of the Nashville Stars
He was obviously fired or he would’ve had a complete his final year.
Eppler gave him his walking papers.

Time to celebrate. The guy just lost the team last October and into the playoffs. It's just hard to recover from that.

He had the lineup to compete hard. Unfortunately, I think you're going to see some players fly the coup after this who we need to stay. We'll see.
Haven't seen anything different from him in his entire career, the Arizona debacle soured me on him years ago.
Billy is nervous about the garbage moves he made so his way of making it look like it's someone else's fault is by firing Buck.
If Buck wanted to leave the team I honestly don’t blame him. The team is in this weird not rebuild / rebuild phase and he wants no part of that.
He just said he wanted to stay but cause of management he’s stepping down
If the Yankees had any brains they would hire him. But they won't.
From August 1st 2022 to October 1st 2023 the Mets have lost over a 100 games. Change is needed. A different philosophy is needed
We'll probably see and hear him next season on MLB Network giving constructive analysis.
Shame we wont have him next year. Who will do better?
Time to talk to boone. He could use some of bucks knowledge
Buck the game past you bye , never wanted to rookies to play , thanks for last year , but this year is not on you but the players

It’s a real and legitimate shame. Some of that blame should have been on Eppler for the expensive garbage can team he put together. Not right.
Only the Mets could bring a 67 year old man (tough as nails baseball lifer) to his knees and make him ...🤧
Its a good news or not ?
This is a ridiculous move. Hopefully our newest college wiz kid has a plan.
