The beach still looking a bit empty. Glad you found a bit of good weather to enjoy your happy Geckos . That Rocket kite must go on your favourite list. Always looks impressive in the sky.
There are a few more people around now that the worst of winter has gone, Carl, and we've had a few warm days when the beach has been quite busy but the wind has been unsuitable for flying. The Rocket was a good buy.
Great videos, Jim I looked forward to a video showing good construction and poor construction kites that would help me to know which types to look for and which kites to pass
The price often (but not always) reflects the quality, David. The main differences are usually in the spars (cheap kites often have very poor ones) and the sewing, which can range from superb to "I could have done better myself" (and I'm NOT a good sewer). Kites with the pattern sewn in will be more expensive (and mostly better-looking) than those constructed of printed material, although print quality can be quite variable. I'll think about whether I could make a useful video on the subject.
I have that Gecko and yes the craftmanship is....meh. Mine has three legs in the right orientation and one that is upside down. Gives it some personality. However it does fly well and for the price, hard to beat.
I was fairly lucky with mine, Tim, although I had to modify the tail on one, but it's clearly made down to a price, and you are far from the only one who has received a faulty specimen. I'm still glad I got mine - as you say, they fly well, and they look pretty good too.
@@ttullis1 That's the great thing with inflatables, of course, as they pack away to a tiny fraction of their inflated volume. People are often amazed when they see a big kite disappear into a tiny bag at the end of flying.
Great library of kite videos. I finally made it to the beach in the Pacific Northwest USA.. I used a bora 7 to lift a small spinner. The spinner was attached to the line with a D clip with three wraps. Kite line was 200 pounds.. The spinner was attached 100 feet below the bora 7. After a couple hours, the spinner had creeped up to 25 feet under the bora 7. Any recommendations how to attach the spinner to the kite line so it doesn’t move?
I've never had that happen. Usually three wraps of line around the carabiner are quite enough to hold it firm, unless the line goes slack, in which case the carabiner could certainly move. Maybe the wind was not steady, and when there was a lull the line went a bit slack and that caused the problem.
Thank you Jim for your hard efforts in sharing...I like the Rocket...you had some large kites to share..take care
Thanks for watching, Craig. The Rocket is a very nice kite.

Beautiful kites! Thanks, Jim. For me, it is so disappointing when the wind stops before I'm ready to stop!
You and me both! It happens too often here these days, unfortunately.
Very cool Jim. I love the rocket kite. What a neat design. Ron
It really is, Ron. I don't know who designed it, but he (or she) did a great job.
When you see them on the ground you can really appreciate the size of the geckos!
They are big, Sheryl, but fortunately easy to handle.
We have two Geckos. But no Rocket. Good Collection🚀
The Rocket is good, and quality of construction is better than the Gecko.
The rocket took a page from spacex and made a successful landing! Nice display
It was a rather neat landing, Evan, so luckily I can re-use it!

saw these for 30$ in my country might get some to add to the collection.
That sounds like an offer too good to miss!

@@JimNicholls Jim even with the upside down leg it flies well and always nice to have with me since it takes up so little room.

Thank you for the information. The wind was gusty that day.
