Don't do it you will drive yourself crazy. In your twenties just make sure you get a good savings started, be mindful of your credit and have fun! Use your twenties to love yourself, your 30's to define who you are, and I don't have anything for my 40's, I am not there yet! But I think I will use it to love others and to flourish in my career. Honestly your 30's are your real beginnings.

As a mother of an almost 21 yr old this has really made me realize again that they aren't supposed to have it all together and that they need to "figure it out" on their own although it is very hard to watch them go through it... thank you for the reminder.. I was 20 something once too...and I came out alright
I look forward to my 40s❤️ I’m enjoying figuring things out, learning and growing in my late 20s now but I feel like that’s going to be a sweet season of life
As someone who's in her mid 20s and hasn't been able to accomplish anything that a lot my age have - you speaking on this topic really does mean so much to me, thank you Jackie ❤
Don't hold yourself accountable for other people's expectations and timetables. If you're actively working towards something, you'll reach your goal on your own time. Everyone else's expectations isn't your responsibility nor your business. 🤗 it'll be okay girl, stay focused.
@@ColeWorld757 I think my biggest issue is that it's really my own expectations. I'm too harsh on myself, comparing my life to everyone else and holding myself to unrealistic standards. But I think I've been making good progress and being easier on myself, taking my goals step by step 😊 thank you for this!! ❤
I’m in my mid twenties and I took a semester break from college and it took a lot of me to tell my parents. Some people thought I wouldn’t go back but I did after a semester and it was the best decision I ever made and I will be graduating this December!! Another issue I struggle with is comparing myself people I graduated with it’s not healthy for you.
Oh god yea that have been my issue comparing myself to people who graduating before me. But I attend to compare myself in general which I'm working on. Also I'm considering on taking a break after my last semester in community college some of my family don't support it that's fine. I believe on going at your own paste.
Omg this video. My 20s were hard. I feel like my mom was the one pressuring me to have my life figured out. Im 31 now and to this day she still asks why im not doing this or that....the friend part. 100% accurate. I probably have 2 friends to this day and they aren’t the ones i thought id still be friends with, but i am grateful that they are the ones still rocking with me. Whats for you is already waiting for you. No need to stress about anything. Just take each day as it comes.
I’m having my “quarter” life crisis rn at 25 and I really needed this video because I am working in my field straight out of college and am coming to realize this ain’t what I’m tryna do forever. Glad to know that this is just part of the process. I also do hate not having any money 💀😂
The leaving school when your friends are still enrolled got me. I cried at my best friend's college graduation. She finished where I couldn't and while I was happy for her, I was in a full blown quarter life crisis and could not shake the feeling that I was going nowhere. Desgraciamente, I'm back in school now. Majors still don't mean anything, school still puts you through it, and I'm desperate to move on with my life. Also, I'm a lot a bit worried because I'm still feeling lost and I've lost the reason of being in my 20s for not having anything figured out.
This video is so real, thank youl ! Being the eldest, a woman and having immigrant parents is pressuring me to have my whole life figured out right now ... and I'm "only" 21 ... this be giving me straight up anxiety ngl
Thank you for your words of wisdom auntie Jackie. I'm 23 just graduated as an architect and trying to navigate through life and starting a career mid pandemic in a 3rd world country and I feel so much pressure with securing jobs and planning for the future. Believing everything will be ok keeps me sane 🖤
"Especially if you're the oldest child..." aHaHAhAAAAAAA I literally laughed OUT loud from how accurate that is & how much I relate. I'm 21 rn, I'm the eldest of 2, literally from day 1 (and by day 1 I mean at age 12) I've always been the one guiding myself. And it's like: you're thought of as "mature for your age", which you probably are, but then you get to college and it's complete whiplash. I'm in my 4th of community college getting 2 A.A.'s and there's just so so much I wish I knew. Social dynamics, relationships, goal setting, structure, discipline, confidence, I could go on & on.
This is one of the most relatable videos. I’m 25 and I feel like a failure sometimes. In this world it seems like everything is against you and you have to do everything by yourself. Like when you make a mistake you get crucified because you are an adult! Being broke and messing up your credit definitely plays a role. Now realizing that stuff like saving, maintaining credit cards, and bills are very important. The most frustrating is feeling like by mid 20 you suppose to have a set career, house, kids, and all that.
I’m 23, feel like I have nothing together. Especially being the oldest child, feeling like you need to be that role model. It’s stressful. I hope things eventually get better. Praying for better times 🙏🏼 needed this
I have that same struggle because I’m the oldest sister and it’s a lot of pressure because I have a younger sister. Parents don’t teach us nothing. Thank you for making feel like I’m not alone. I’m 22 btw
I got married at 23, and I’m one of the only people I know who got married that young who’s still married. I always recommend they wait until they are with them for at least four to five years. Also, people in their twenties think it’s weird that people in their thirties don’t NEED a bunch of friends. I have, like, three real friends, and I’m good, thanks.
Omg the finished look is really so gorgeous!!! For me turning 30 (even in the middle of a pandemic) felt like a door opening for me. The level of love, acceptance, and clarity I have cultivated for myself is real
Today is the last day of my 20s and I can’t wait!! 🎉✨ (Jackie right on time, per usual) 20s is basically extended teens 🤢 More than anything 30s are HIGHLY underrated.
19:04 I totally agree. It's scary to recognize your dreams and go after them. I was terrified to take responsibility for myself and break away from the expectations I thought I needed to meet to be a good daughter to my immigrant parents. I finally switched my major and I'm so excited for what is to come
I just turned 30 this year, and I can’t tell you how much of a blessing this video is. 🖤🖤 My sister is only a year older than me, but she’s told me almost word-for-word what you say here, Jackie. I’m grateful for the women in our lives who love us and can help us put everything into perspective. Be well, everyone!
I am Australian and not an immigrant so take this with a grain of salt...but as someone marrying an immigrant who felt an intense need to provide for his family who he perceived gave up everything for him - don’t pick a career because it is the most lucrative and has the most security, it is your life and you will do well doing something you love. Too much emotional labour and pain deciding your career for others. You got this girl x
I’m 22 and a senior in college on the premed track. I really appreciate you having this conversation. The future and all the unknowns, coupled with the possibility of failure TERRIFY me and your perspective is so inspiring. Thank you for doing this!!
I say to colleagues in their 20’s, I wish I hadn’t wasted so much time criticising myself. I should be thinner, my nose should be smaller blah blah. I was hot!! So I tell them, ENJOY IT, your beautiful 💜💜
I just turned 24 and I’m trying my best to just live my life and take it as it comes. I’m trying to no longer compare myself to others or compare myself to who I thought I’d be. It’s an odd time lol
I turned 20 in October and I feel like once you hit your 20's, it's like "oh fuck I'm an adult now, I have to get my shit together" and it's a lot of pressure. This definitely made me feel so much better💘💘

My ex broke up with me before Christmas last year and I’m still trying to get over it. The right person will come. It just showed us that the person wasn’t it, no matter how hard to accept. Just glad so much time wasn’t wasted. I’m only 21.

Thank you Jackie, I really needed this 🙏I’m 24 and just went back to uni this year after 2 years of feeling super unaccomplished I learned my lesson to take things slow and not be so hard on myself, but really that voice still does get the best of me sometimes. I’m learning to accept that voice and stop it from ruling my life
I'm 21. My life's a mess. I'm still trying to figure out myself. At times I feel like i'm not going in the right path. Thanks for putting this out Jackie. I'm going to live my life to the fullest and learn from my mistakes and be happy. Thank you!
I’m honestly loving my 20s lol. That’s not to say it isn’t the Ghetto... it is... it definitely is, buuuuut the ratchet side of me loves it 🤣. I’m definitely not living by the rules tho, but I am being ambitious, allowing myself to make mistakes, enjoying singlehood, etc. But yeah you do get the occasional stroke when you look at your bank account on the wrong day of the month.

Honey those people are rich from doing very little. Consider them mini celebrities, they are monied just because. As the person above said, it doesn't happen often. Be happy for them and then get back to figuring out what you're good at.
I'm 22 and I want to change my career and I'm so f*cking confused how to do that, not counting the seasonal depression and childhood trauma. AND I'm living with my parents 😃

I want to do fine art conservation and my country doesn't really have a good enough course for that and all the info in Google and TH-cam is outdated. I'm looking into Europe now. Honestly, I feel like my 20’s is the equivalent of being in middle school. Just an awkward stage where no one really knows what to do with you and you don’t know what lessons you need to learn until you get to your 30’s and mostly figure out where you went wrong.
30s feels like 20s all over again but better because you have learned the do’s and don’t and more financially stable and still young so still can have plenty of fun
Jamie ModelVsDirector this is what I am looking forward to!!! Just a couple of more months

Same here!! I'm tired of the grind, but it will be so worth it! 😊
Keep up the great work. Your 30s will be less painful!!

As a mother of an almost 21 yr old this has really made me realize again that they aren't supposed to have it all together and that they need to "figure it out" on their own although it is very hard to watch them go through it... thank you for the reminder.. I was 20 something once too...and I came out alright
@heaven sent lol awww thanks love! I'm 42! my son is now 21 , my non binary Tati is going on 14 and I've been married 22 yrs this past March ;) -

@@LilyLayy Thank you! This is something that I've known but it's nice to get reassurance every once in awhile 😊
@@hxpewxrld 29 over here and I just started figuring things out when I hit 26! Starting planning now for your future and you'll be fine 🧡
Another issue I struggle with is comparing myself people I graduated with it’s not healthy for you.
you choose to make yourself a priority. bravo and congrats on graduation
I definitely have a problem with comparing myself with the people I graduated with and other people who graduated after me.
I gotta remind myself daily that not everyone is gonna do the samething as you and everyone has theyre own thing

Girl same! I sometimes wake up with the thought of "I'm 25 ,broke and still figuring life! I'm a mess!" Lol!
That happened to me! Now I’m trying career number two! Lol
lol same thing happened to me!! i actually ended up doing a career change !
Ashley Hicks How did you decide what to move on to?
Carolina Is it working out? How did you decide what to do next?
The leaving school when your friends are still enrolled got me. I cried at my best friend's college graduation. She finished where I couldn't and while I was happy for her, I was in a full blown quarter life crisis and could not shake the feeling that I was going nowhere. Desgraciamente, I'm back in school now. Majors still don't mean anything, school still puts you through it, and I'm desperate to move on with my life. Also, I'm a lot a bit worried because I'm still feeling lost and I've lost the reason of being in my 20s for not having anything figured out.
I hope things become more joyful for you soon! 💜

"Especially if you're the oldest child..." aHaHAhAAAAAAA
I literally laughed OUT loud from how accurate that is & how much I relate.
Normalize not knowing what you want to do in your 20s. A WORD sis🙌🏾
I’m 24 and can confirm that this is the ghetto . This did make me feel better though so thank you for a different perspective
At the age of 38, I can confirm that EVERY SINGLE THING she says is CORRECT!
Thanks for chiming in this comment helped me. I hope you are well ❤
Omg the finished look is really so gorgeous!!! For me turning 30 (even in the middle of a pandemic) felt like a door opening for me. The level of love, acceptance, and clarity I have cultivated for myself is real
I’m 23 and when Drake said “23 and going through a mid-life crisis” I felt that. 😭😭😭

More than anything 30s are HIGHLY underrated.

Seriously!
Yesssss
For real!
I actually needed this talk so bad. My parents are immigrants and they think I should already have my shit figured out and I’m 16😭
This is so true you don’t realize how beautiful you were in ur twenties and all the men that can come with it
I just turned 24 and I’m trying my best to just live my life and take it as it comes. I’m trying to no longer compare myself to others or compare myself to who I thought I’d be. It’s an odd time lol
No way! But I do think my 30's will be popping. So much success!!
I turned 20 in October and I feel like once you hit your 20's, it's like "oh fuck I'm an adult now, I have to get my shit together" and it's a lot of pressure. This definitely made me feel so much better💘💘
Shit not for Me, Imma be 21 this sunday and I'm just going with the flow

I’m honestly loving my 20s lol. That’s not to say it isn’t the Ghetto... it is... it definitely is, buuuuut the ratchet side of me loves it 🤣.
I’m definitely not living by the rules tho, but I am being ambitious, allowing myself to make mistakes, enjoying singlehood, etc.
But yeah you do get the occasional stroke when you look at your bank account on the wrong day of the month.
Whew so much truth 😭
I'm trying to get to this mindset. This shit be hard sometimes. I be ready to fight the universe sometimes.
"When u look at ur bank account on the wrong day of the month" oof that hit too close to home😂😅
but it's like the ghetto fabulous type (i just turned 25) and honestly I can't rush it because I already hate being an adult after wanting to be grown so bad as a kid.
I clicked on this straight away! In my 20’s now and I’m honestly so excited for my 30’s! My 20’s has been full of trying things and being like ‘no, actually I don’t like that’. I can’t wait to settle down and know what I’m actually supposed to be doing with my life! 🙈🙋🏽😂😂 xx
Still trying to figure it out at 34 🤣😂😆 I’m finally starting to get there tho lol 😆 30s is like 20s all over again but you make better decisions because of the mistakes in the 20s. 30s feels like a do over I Love it tho 😊
Whew, navigating friendships in my 20s has been such a weird and rough time, BUT definitely a lot of valuable lessons learned in the long run
I'm barely 20 & already feel anxious that I don't have everything together, social media has really warped our brains. Gotta keep reminding myself I have time
I love how you were on the phone with Folake throughout this, really cute and made it even more real and feel like girl talk x
but on a serious note: influencers tho... like the james charles, larrays and hype house kinda make u feel like u should be doing more.

Honey those people are rich from doing very little. Consider them mini celebrities, they are monied just because. As the person above said, it doesn't happen often. Be happy for them and then get back to figuring out what you're good at.
