Love the abundance of your garden. Looks great this time of year.
@@Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus thanks mate, I just finished a tour of a friends garden which I'll upload tomorrow. It was amazing. Mostly edible too
@UrbanBounty just my kind of garden 😀
Nice look at what's going on, it always thrills me to see the white sapote with so many fruit on as I believe thats one of the few tropical fruits that can produce in a pot for me here because of their habit of flowering in Winter 🤞
@@lyonheart84 hi Brett, yes I agree. FYI I have a reineke variety in a pot and it has fruit at the moment and it will always stay in a pot.
My brother has a young Blumenthal in a pot and its loaded this year.
There is a friend not far from me who grows all of his white sapote in pots and all get plenty of fruit.
I know its a different climate but its a good indication that they fruit well in pots.
Cheers Brett
What a beautiful day for an update.
Very early flowers on the dragon fruit… nice work!
Everything looks very healthy and happy.
Looking forward to a full tour 🙂
Thanks mate, let me know when you get flowers and if you need pollen 👌
@ Thanks mate you’re a legend
Looking excellent Paul. Sapote have inspired me to get some better fruit protection this year.
@@matthewspatch9529 hi mate! Good stuff. They really taste nice 👌
Everything is looking tops Paul
Lots of dragon fruit soon and also keen to hear how the epiphyllums go
@@Coolclimatetropicalfruits thanks Neil. Watching your jabo vid now
Looking good Paul, im fascinated to see how those epiphiliums taste!
@@dougs_urbanfarm thanks Doug!
I have been researching on them and some varieties taste better than others so it should be an interesting test! Cheers mate 👍
Your small seedling Glen is really impressive. Everything else looks great also
Thanks G.. I tried to pluck out a few fruitlets tonight but they all feel like they are well connected. I have bad memories of a previous mango that died after I plucked the fruitlets so I'm a bit wary 😆
Thanks for sharing mate, I'm amazed how neat & tidy your garden is and I too have also transplanted my Achacha & yellow Grumichama tree into the ground this year as well. We share interests growing similar exotic fruit trees that the funny thing was a couple of years back, I tried to buy the advance Kampong White Sapote on Marketplace, but just missed out as the seller told me someone just came to pickup the tree. A few days later I saw you posted a video of this exact same tree trying to plant it into the ground and so that was when I first came to know of your existance Urban Bounty 😄
@@sydneyfruittreesgrower WOW! That is amazing and adds to the story about that Kampong.
I'm sorry to have purchased it before you did but I remember the seller telling me that if I dont collect it today that someone from Sydney was going to buy all of them! That was you?
At the time, I took a risk travelling to collect that tree because of the rules in place at that time.
Thanks for sharing that mate!
@@UrbanBounty haha, all good Paul I have since grafted a Kampong variety and got a chance to try the fruit a few months back for the very first time - delicious!
It was a while back but I think the seller kind of exaggarate since I only intended to get one white sapote tree the Kampong since it is a self pollinating variety and that they are quite expensive trees at the time.
BTW I have worked on secret air-layering projects on my Lychees & Longans that has good trunk size and can now announce they are successful after a long wait - I can begin to see the roots growing inside the enclosure pods... I will prioritise giving them to you and Neil in Canberra if you are interested in my next video update 🙂
@sydneyfruittreesgrower wow, yes and lets touch base beforehand so I can return your favour with anything that I have here mate!
What a great exchange, good on you fellas
@33kiel cheers mate!!
Great update Paul! Very impressed with your seedling Glenn mango tree. How old is it?
Looks like you're going to have an abundant year with many of your trees 🤞
@@PeterEntwistle hi Peter, thanks mate. I'm excited about the dragonfruit especially
The Glenn is 3 years old 👍
Hello cây thanh Long của bạn phát triển rất tốt ,cảm ơn bạn đã chia sẻ kinh nghiệm làm vườn tới bạn bè .
Thank you very much 😀
Lucky you don’t get fruit fly!
Great tour. Where did you get the air layered achacha? I wonder if that’ll behave like a grafted one and fruit earlier. I haven’t been as happy with my kampong white sapote, small fruit and not many, but the tree is smaller than yours so hopefully it gets more productive!
@@sydneyfruitgardening gday Ben, I got the air layered achacha from Heaven on Earth Fruit Trees but I think I got the last one for this season. I think they air layer it off a large fruiting tree that they have.
I thought I'd try the seedling and the air layer to see what happens.
Cheers mate
Mine also early this year don't why
@@MrMaoSon hello. I visited my khmer friend today and his dragonfruit is early too.
I will upload video tomorrow morning of his amazing garden
Cheers from Sonoma county/bay area. Your climate appears much like mine. Ten years ago I was told citrus will not grow in NorCAl...I have 8 varieties doing fine, thank you. I was always told avocados will not grow here. Two years ago I put seven varieties in ground and they are doing well. I also have several Japanese plums. I stop growing veggies because they are relatively cheap here and use too much water and the birds and bugs love to munch them. Plant more Avo varieties! Can anyone EVER have too many avocados?
@@Moochy999 hello there! Thanks for your comment and information about what you are growing in Sonoma county!
It's great to hear that you're also growing edible plants that are not supposed to grow there.
Well done on your avocados 🥑 👏
Are you planning on putting mango in the ground?
@@fruitsmoothie no I dont have any room to put it in ground unfortunately but they will both end up being in really large pots
Where abouts did you get your pawpaws? And what varieties do you reccomend?
@@der-gus I got them from Yamina rare plants in monbulk and I had to take the only varieties that they had, a PA gold and a louis glowinski.
On FB there are a few pages dedicated to them. Search Asimina Triloba Australia and they will know of more places and variety. Cheers
@@UrbanBounty Oh ok, yamina is where I was looking at getting them from, but at the moment they only had 1 variety. I emailed to ask if they were genetically different from each other (for pollination) and they gave me a bit of a vague answer haha. Thanks for the help though.
@der-gus from what I have read, all seedlings should be genetically different even from the same tree.
I cant tell if mine are grafted or seedlings. They were sold as varieties PA gold and loyis glowinski but I cant see any grafting marks on them. Either a perfect graft or they are seedlings
Don’t you have a possum or cocky / parrot problem
Hello, I get asked that question alot and my answer is "not really"
If I let my guard down, I am sure the birds etc would take over but the advantage of a small garden is that I'm always out there in the eyes of the birds and possums.
I am guessing that if my land was larger, the birds and possums would feel more comfortable that they have free reign.
I certainly see possums and parrots fly overheard all year round
