Lots of channels attempt to show “real boat life”, but they explain it rather than bringing us into the actual thought processes and explanations of sail plans, etc. You really bring us along on your passages. It makes me think about what a I can do with my own little boat. It gives me the courage to try a little more, and a little more until I am one with my boat. Thanks for real actual passage making videos without the entertainment. You are one of the best channels out there. Congrats on the added performance the refit provided. Cheers!!
Ya are one of my fave channels real sailors just read a story about a guy crossing the bite and a English daysailer bilge keel and the hull was flexing at the forward chain plates every wave lol
I really felt for poor Pascale trying to make herself a cuppa tea in those conditions while obviously feeling a bit ordinary and having a camera shoved in her face ! I did enjoy the soundtrack on this one though, it really gave a sense of being there and the music was the perfect accompaniment to it ! Nicely done !
Sitting here with a cup of tea watching your boat cruising along, the sound of the sea, and topped with some really nice gentle background music is quite mesmerizing. A 30 footer across the Bight, you two are real sailors.
Poor Pascale in the morning with an ear infection! Those are bad enough on land, but on a boat swaying all over the place has to be so much worse. Thanks for showing up on camera when you were so down - it makes seeing you up again that much better!
Though difficult to tell from T’s laconic delivery, the boat clearly is sailing magnificently. I admire the channel for showing the downs as well as the ups-glad that P got to feeling better. I can’t imagine preparing duck confit while the boat rolls through 3 m waves! The sea(wo)manship continues to amaze.
You guys are far and away the best sailing channel on pootube. I live my adventures vicariously through you...stay safe 🙏 all the best, a slightly envious pom.
what a nice episode..has all of you in it...sailing, waves, sea food, diving, cooking, illness and happiness after that, waves again,... all in all perfect. Thanks to both of you for your honesty in your videos and sharing your day to day life.
motion does get better with bigger boats, but what you guys are doing in your own is the real deal: going places with a boat that suits (after a lot of work) your needs, not a floating apartment. i share that philosophy as i am currently refitting a 1962 Van de stadt Pioneer 9 (29 foot) as a go-anywhere 2 person boat. learned to sail at age 7 and wanted to do saillife ever since i was 16, today, nearing on 40 yo, im getting closer and closer. apart from the inspiration, you ve been providing me witth some great ideas for the refit also. great channel, one of the best imo.
Since my initial binge of 30+ episodes I've been an avid follower. Looks like the newly-refitted Mirrool is doing you proud. I can't wait for the next episode. See you next week!
The size of the large wide swell in the southern ocean will skew the wind as it would between mountains and valleys on land, add to that large choppy wind waves atop these swells and you have a messy sea and skittish winds. It actually gets a bit more stable direction as the breeze increases, but that will bring new waves with it. You guys are such an inspiration doing it in a 30 footer. I take my hat off to you,... but I do that quiet regularly on your channel, the way you two sail and work together. Just lovely!
"A little bit rolley" - no wonder Pascal was looking green; I was feeling a bit unsteady just watching. Those shots from inside the boat, with some hull or the cockpit showing, give a more vivid feel of the size of the waves because there is something to give perspective and scale.
Bravo to you both but special sympathies to the beautiful Pascale. I really felt for you there! I hate passage making unless it was like ours last night. 100 miles at 9-15 knots behind aft of the beam and no swell the whole way. I reckon everyone who has sailed the Bight either way should get a special medal!
Really inspirational and beautifully put together episode. I just love how you show such an abundance of respect for each other as well as we viewers. It brings all of us on your epic journey.
Pasky I learned a trick many years back on how to remove water in the ears without shaking your head off your shoulders. Get a paper towel roll a corner into a fine tip and gently insert into the affected ear. I swear you can feel the water being drawn out and the relief is instantaneous. Works for me every time. Hope it helps you Kiddo.
WOW what AWESOME sailing footage, was actually rocking in my chair to the effect of the waves. Felt as if I was there. It been a long time that I have seen such good sailing footage from any of the channels that I subscribe to. Well done!!
Duck confit followed by abalone... well, life is hard isn't it... I felt so sad for Pascal when her tea spilt... I was cheering "don't cry"... It's amazing how the day gets better... love the honesty...
Terrific video once again. I don't like seeing Pascale so down and in pain, glad she was feeling better by the end. Just a little concerned about what happens when you finally reach home, the weekly videos will be greatly missed!!
Hang in there P you are in good hands. We love to watch. We also pray for your safety. I am so thankful you include us in your journey. Thanks and God Speed! Many folks do not really know what its like to plunge through the sea for days but I do and I wish you both the very best. The dolphins are taking care of you. :)
I was out for a daysail last week an the wind blew east southeast all night against a west swell, not too big but made a very bumpy day off the shallow waters of Southern California. Love your videos! Thank you for the great work you two do, most people don’t know how much work goes into making an episode, I really appreciate it.
Great Video, so reminiscent of sailing our 29ft Herreshoff H28 to Rarotonga bouncing along and thrown about in early winter strong winds. So often the sounds and size of the swells don't come across on film. looking forward to next installment.
2:05 " ..fast overnight sail to Flinders island ..." Whoa! That sounded really fast, until I looked up Flinders island in South Australia, not the one back near Tassie. Whew!
Sorry to hear about the diving ear I've had it a few times now and I'm now using a pressure compensating set of fitted sized ear inserts that keep the water out of your ears . I never had another earache since I got them and they don't cost much from memory perhaps only about $40 a pair. Clean up with alcohol wipes after use and good to go. Musicians also use them. Your travels are great all power to you. Regards Mark
I’ve crossed that part of the water many times at +30,000’ and once at 500’ and have always been in awe of anyone down there on the water. Rarely ever smooth. I love the authenticity of you two and learn from every episode. Living our own dream in the Med at present. You’re braver than I , chasing abalone in those waters, but the results looked great. Safe sailing..
Wow 150 miles on a 30 footer! Crossed from san Francisco to kaneohe Hawaii on a 36 footer with a best day of about that. You are flying! Nothing worse than being sick on a downwind ride! Hope you feel better Pascale.
Ah the brutal honesty of passage making. What a great gig you two reveal to us pessants. How we wish. You both passed this trial with flying colours as expected. What a team. A block of good chocolate is a cure all necessity too. You stock up well. Keep sailing your so dam good at it.
I think you've discovered the perfect solution to the mid-passage blues!! Duck confit and abalone cooked in duck fat! Now, if only there was a way to patent it, you'd be rich! Loved the video! Take good care!
Thanks so much for sharing your great work, the honesty, and the artistry in the way you craft each video. The scenes with just music were truly beautiful and somehow you captured the balance of it all despite the seas and confused winds.
I had several very painful ear infections before I became an adult. They motivated me to discard the idea that you shouldn't put anything inside your ear bigger than your elbow, and to start cleaning with q-tips deep into the ear passage (always paper core, never plastic as they are hard and will hurt). After that, I never had an ear infection again. 62 yrs old now. A medical disclaimer is called for here. I don't advise anyone else to do as I have done as it could be dangerous, and is not advised by Doctors. It worked for me, and what you do, is your business and your responsibility.
We’re hanging out for each episode. Awesome job guys, we lived aboard ours for 17 years but sailing from SA heading East and sailing around Tasmania was the best we could do, due to my husbands work accident. Keep those episodes coming…living the dream 😄
I was thinking exactly the same, you really do get a sense of being there and the ultra chilled music goes perfectly with the soundscape ! Nice sound editing Pascale !
We have been using a (newish) Zoom H5 sound recorder more recently to record ambient audio while sailing. We're really happy with the result. So glad you noticed Miq ;-)
Pascal is a real trooper. I don’t know many people male or female who would endure that type of sailing in such a small boat. I can handle it as long as I stay on deck, but remaining functional down below is impossible for me.
G'day Crew,, The best yhating /sailing channel . Loved it ,, as i always do . Many thanks for sharing it with the faithful. Respect from Shellharbour, NSW.
Must be h... of a satisfying experience surfing down those choppy waves with confidence on a boat you have worked on and fitted out to be a maximum performer given its size and age. Can nearly feel the excitement, even Pascal in all her misery seems to appreciate Mirools performance as she prays that they reach the destination before schedule,,, and is heard :)))
Been there, done that! I completed a 40,000 mile, 3 year singlehanded circumnavigation in my Chatham 33, steel, pilothouse, cutter that included a passage from Saldana, South Africa to Tonga at 45 degrees S and a passage from San Diego to the Falklands via Cape Horn. Sailing the Southern Ocean is an experience not to be missed especially singlehandedand with no long range communications (VHF radio only).
If you have a propensity toward swimmer's ear, try the 3rds mix for a post-dive ear wash. Equal parts water, vinegar and isopropyl alcohol. The drops you have are the combo antibiotic and anti-inflammatory? That's as good as it gets for this.
Am enjoying your calm and realistic attitudes

Huge hugs go to Pascale - she’s such a trooper ! Amazing “real” sailing in a small boat. Great photography and sound to match 😊👍
Sailing a 30' boat in the southern ocean has to be far more scary than people think. I admire you two for taking on the task...
Oh Pascale, the pain and “I’m over it” was written large on your face. So glad that you endured and came out smiling.
Pascal making Gourmet meals in nautical seas.
Now that is Free Range Sailing.
As always, the sailing channel with actual sailing. Love you guys you are the best. Hope your ears are ok now.
Sitting here with a cup of tea watching your boat cruising along, the sound of the sea, and topped with some really nice gentle background music is quite mesmerizing. A 30 footer across the Bight, you two are real sailors.
"Time Flys When The Boat Flys". You two are REAL sailors and thats why I enjoy your channel more than most, Stay safe and keep the videos coming.
Perfect music choice - sombre and measured. I'm going to watch this one again - it captures the mood really well.
"We are heading west and Heading home" and then "Hello Mr Albatross" How did I get so much dust in my eyes, I'm inside! ;-) Love you two..
I love the sounds of the ocean, and the wind in the rigging.
Poor Pascale in the morning with an ear infection! Those are bad enough on land, but on a boat swaying all over the place has to be so much worse. Thanks for showing up on camera when you were so down - it makes seeing you up again that much better!

You guys are absolutely the best sailing channel on TH-cam. Thank you for the amazing how to and real life sailing content. Legends!
Amazing what a difference chocolate, less pain, a cup of tea and some sleep can make :-)!
Chocolate and T will always bring a smile. Dark chocolate will produce bigger smile
Amazing sailing, beautiful diving, deep blue waters, and Pascale cooking. Best channel around and now I'm hungry. Thank you.

Strong woman. Especially such a small boat. And still cooking with a ear infection. Great job.

Love being with you guys, long time fan. No matter the subject it's always enjoyable. Glad your ear is better Pascale.
Terrific video once again.
I don't like seeing Pascale so down and in pain, glad she was feeling better by the end.
Just a little concerned about what happens when you finally reach home, the weekly videos will be greatly missed!!
Excellent edition T&P. Real sailing, Real issues, Real enjoyment. Looking forward to pt2!
Now that is real sailing!
Great to see the mood lighten and what a feast!
Youve got some massive balls sailing the Southern Ocean in that small of a vessel, not to mention some phenomenal sailing skills.
Thanks for all the simple unadulterated scenes and sounds of just rolling along in this video. A joy to watch.
Another great episode, thanks for the privilege of taking me along for the ride!

A tea pot, how very civilised and stylish having afternoon tea :-)
Great Video, so reminiscent of sailing our 29ft Herreshoff H28 to Rarotonga bouncing along and thrown about in early winter strong winds. So often the sounds and size of the swells don't come across on film. looking forward to next installment.
She is sailing beautifully. Keeping things maintenanced and and a eye on things while sailing and everything will be A okay.
2:05 " ..fast overnight sail to Flinders island ..." Whoa! That sounded really fast, until I looked up Flinders island in South Australia, not the one back near Tassie. Whew!

Have a great day

Awesome episode! Glad to see you bounce back Pascale, there's nothing worse than feeling ill on a rolly boat!
Wow 150 miles on a 30 footer! Crossed from san Francisco to kaneohe Hawaii on a 36 footer with a best day of about that. You are flying! Nothing worse than being sick on a downwind ride! Hope you feel better Pascale.
Spectacular slice of passage life. Thanks guys.
Glad Pascal is feeling better than earlier in the day. The thought of heading home must be wonderful. Stay safe guys. 👍🤗
Truly love you sailing videos. Always wanted to visit Australia and the Islands.
I thank you for sharing your lives . Such a great restoration-remodel. Such a perfect mate!
Ah the brutal honesty of passage making. What a great gig you two reveal to us pessants. How we wish. You both passed this trial with flying colours as expected. What a team. A block of good chocolate is a cure all necessity too. You stock up well. Keep sailing your so dam good at it.
Trials and Tribulations....Glad you finally Got a Bite on the Bight...Good on ya
I think you've discovered the perfect solution to the mid-passage blues!! Duck confit and abalone cooked in duck fat! Now, if only there was a way to patent it, you'd be rich!
Loved the video! Take good care!
You were the first sailing channel I came across on TH-cam a while back! You are by far my fav! TYVM!
These are great episodes guys, very real and great to watch 👌🙂
Fantastic as always, the boats looking equally fantastic!! 😊😊😊
Troy I think she's a keeper.
Yeah.... When they went quiet for a few weeks I thought they'd eloped.
Oh gosh Pascale, you looked completely done in on that first "piece to camera", glad you perked up later to more like your usual self.
Thanks so much for sharing your great work, the honesty, and the artistry in the way you craft each video. The scenes with just music were truly beautiful and somehow you captured the balance of it all despite the seas and confused winds.
was that a free range Duck, great see you guys cruising ,cheers from Icey Melbourne
I'm so happy you're back with sailing videos! Good luck you two!
Mirrool appears to be very confident in her new makeover outfit and is showing it all in her sailing ability, congratulations...
Ugh the rolling! You've captured it all so perfectly!
Great video, love the sound track!
Be safe and good sailing 🌞⛵
That narrow beam really gives you guys a ride!
Ya can't enjoy the easy sailing without going through the rough - Beautiful Video
The sailing seems great... like paradise...
everything looks so neat and tidy and comfortable, you both did a magnificent job getting that yacht up to perfect.
You really do present wonderful sailing videos - true small boat passage making that is extremely well presented. Well done both - and thank you.

Wow! 'really enjoy following your adventures ... great pics and sounds! takes me back when I was a lot younger and sailing the seas
Ok this is video number 51 of my "I want to buy a Free Range Sailing hoody" campaign
Cheers
Matt
Yall are Amazing. Some of the toughest sailors ever. Wishing yall safe travels and fair wind and small waves. Ha.
BRY / Sailing Muse
wonderful mix of the ups and downs and all arounds... kudos.
Glad you’re back on the water now. Good to be sailing again! Hang in there Pasquale!
We’re hanging out for each episode. Awesome job guys, we lived aboard ours for 17 years but sailing from SA heading East and sailing around Tasmania was the best we could do, due to my husbands work accident. Keep those episodes coming…living the dream 😄
Aye m8’s, this is one of your best regarding ambient sound. The waves are a joy to listen to. Is it a new mic or a new recorder?
I was thinking exactly the same, you really do get a sense of being there and the ultra chilled music goes perfectly with the soundscape !
Nice sound editing Pascale !
We have been using a (newish) Zoom H5 sound recorder more recently to record ambient audio while sailing. We're really happy with the result. So glad you noticed Miq ;-)
Yes, the sound really adds to the experience. Tucked in my cozy bed in Japan but I really got that sense of “rockin and Rollin!”
You guys are inspirational badasses. Thank you.
Pascal is a real trooper. I don’t know many people male or female who would endure that type of sailing in such a small boat. I can handle it as long as I stay on deck, but remaining functional down below is impossible for me.
Conserving the duck like that is genious, would have never struck my mind
Excellent music choice for a great video. Thank you

Good to see you under the canvas making wakes
Gret episode! Welcome to the real ocean!
Love it! Really gives a good feel for passage making. Thank you
I really enjoyed this one and I echo what the others here have said.....a great sailing adventure shown on our screens, thank you both!!

A very noteworthy accomplishment.
that was some rolly polly sailing! Amazing sound in this episode.
Production quality unsurpassed while allowing the natural world to speak its mind
