The world's most quiet office.
@@svarga1 Me too.
All those jobs suddenly became obsolete!
Exactly the same way some occupations of today will totally vanish in few years to come!
And then they gave everyone a PC and telt them to do it yourself, and these hard working women were cast out onto the brew.
This brought back happy
memories! Thank you for
uploading 💖
Happy memories of being a worker slave?
@@AlanWattResistance
I was very happy to have work! I started off in a typing pool and worked my way up to be a PA, the highest paid job you could get in the bank at that time 😁
@@viviennepopek Ok, thanks.
@@AlanWattResistance I did data entry as a summer job, it wasn't like being a slave. It was like being paid more to do a comfortable job
This isn't a typing pool, as these fine ladies are not typing, but making calculations. They are all using the numeric keypads, and are the successors of what were known in the pre-computer days as 'comptometer operators'.
Yep, better than punch cards though!
@@paulbroderick8438 Ah, but without punch cards you can't fill a colleague's umbrella with hundreds of tiny paper dots.
Since they're using computers, they wouldn't be manually calculating. They're data entry clerks.
I remember the typing pool well ! As a 16 year old, you were cat-called, goosed etc. I remember our chief typist was called (I kid you not) Fanny Adams, she said to me once....'If it was a choice between you and Richard Gere having me over my desk, I don't know who I would choose !' I got out of there and laughed to myself, and still do. Good office banter.
Soul destroying, this is not what humans were put on the earth to do. Robots🤖
It was a well paid job in a time of high unemployment. I was happy to do it and I was not a robot. We had an hour lunch and two tea breaks, social nights and Christmas parties.
Really? For most of human history men walked behind a plough staring up the butt of a donkey up and down a field all day.
Troll
57 seconds I'll never get back....lol😁
How will you cope?
@@gilgameshofuruk4060 Have a spliff and chill I suppose 🤔🥴😁.
I bet there was actually significant ionizing radiation from all those CRTs
Health & Safety would have a field day with that set up
@Trill 1 Screens aren't level with head/eyes. Which results in bad posture, which results in neck & back problems.
drubber77 This is 1980s Numnuts. The advent of the computer just coming out guaranteed they gave two fucks less.
@@swordwarrior4586 I'm referring to current times you numpty.
drubber77 Most things were pretty wack in the 80s why would you even compare it? Pretty common sense that most things would have a lot more safety and science behind it today. Congrats Captain obvious. Plus the cost etc. of having a computer at Eye level back then with easy access to a keyboard. Welcome to the future.
@@swordwarrior4586 I was making the point that todays H&S would have a field day with a set up like that. Which they clearly would. You're 100% completely and utterly getting the wrong end of the bloody stick.
All these old Thames Tv clips never have any sound?
Sound was often recorded separately from the camera so probably not. These silent clips, would only be shown accompanying a voiceover or music on a TV programme. There was never any need. They may have added sounds in post.
Have you got any footage of lots of woman in a room using sewing machines?
They probably do.
I wonder what they were inputting?
The rise of the machines
Would do well to marry one of these ladies.
Not one of them stopping work to prey.
they need to ban that stupid practice . their there to work not prey
I suppose they could let them pray to keep their job, as they sit in the manager's office waiting for the chop....
Grumzz Before you call something stupid, learn to spell.
@@nkt1 if i do that you wont get to post because you have nothing to say because your brain is empty
@@picklewiickle.1583 so you dont want them to be hunted or harmed....thats nice of you!
Good old days when they had proper women's jobs.
@Mike Oxbigger It's easier for the typical manly-main-man to write on youtube the first stupidity that comes to his mind because his brain tends to be smaller and more lazy than the average human brain
What a fucking dickhead. Except some heavy manual labour jobs... men and women can pretty much do the exact same jobs.
@Mike Oxbigger Men never had a problem using keyboards & today's are much smaller than '80s keyboards. I often see women on building sites in London but admittedly not laying bricks.
60s generation were told that when computers become the norm we'd become a paperless society & have more leisure time! NEVER trust the Establishment & MSM!
@Mike Oxbigger Tbf I didn't say you'd a problem with it & agree that some jobs are better suited to men/women.
I'm sure just as many men are in jobs that suit them but that they hate as women in jobs that suit them & that they hate. State school sausage machine never have prepared students for life or steered them in a career best suited.
Some of them women look good! They're probably old ladies now! "Hey, give me my walker, sonny boy!"
hahah ageism. your life is worthless when old
