But as far as close it just depends on the day , I’ve kinda noticed when it’s colder they’re in closer . As summer approaches they’ll be further out but we’ll get different fish in like cobia , kings , sails , etc
@@leeannewinchester5529 I always wear it in deep water , I probably should wear it always but in shallow water next to docks I don’t ,unless I have too tournament rules . I’ve had a bunch of mishaps on the water I’ve been thru the ringer .

Penn battle 6000 reel , rod was a penn squadron 3 7’6” medium . I only used it because I had 50 pound braid already on it and I had a Topwater with me so it was a dual purpose setup . If you wanna be more dialed in as far as right setups just let me know .

Do y’all get them that close to shore often? I always thought in the gulf you had to go pretty far out
Depends on the time of year gotta have the right weather , water temps , and bait . This one I caught puked up a bunch of squid before I gaffed it
