    I am by no means a bible scholar. I have been reading the word for over 30 years and I am constantly learning. The Holy Spirit will bring clarity to a verse, reveal a unseen concept or my Pastor will delve into a passage that I have read without previously understanding. I thank God that He doesnt leave me where I am but continues to lead and guide me to know him better.

    I love it when John is in prison and Nicodemus visits
    him. And John said to him that they would have thought Moses was crazy for talking to a shrub. Actually, the line was lunatic. 😊

    @TheChosenSleuth the pointing tool used to keep your place while reading the Torah scroll is called a "Yad", Hebrew for "hand". It is used out of respect for God's word, and to keep from damaging the scrolls with dirt and oil from hands.

    Totally agree that we all need to keep an open mind. As Nicodemus said in the Chosen, we are all still learning . Your faith is a personal experience between you and God.

    I really really enjoyed tis conversation between Nicodemus and Shmuel because it serves as a reminder for us to know what we believe and why. We should not just take what we are told or what is preached to us at face value. We are admonished to search the Scriptures for ourselves and to be led by the Holy Spirit as we do so. He is the one who knows Gods mind and we are promised that He will guide us into all truth.

    I'm fortunate to have had several excellent Bible teachers who told us to be like the Bereans & check the scriptures & ask about discrepancies.
    I have discovered that I have had blind spots because I believed what I was taught. Asking & believing that the Holy Spirit can reveal the truth to me was key to my spiritual path. Sometimes God didn't answer my question until I learned something else first. I also believe that God is always right, so if I think he's wrong then I am the one who is wrong. & Patience is a gift I don't want to need to use. But we are all students, & we can keep growing until he calls us home.

    This is a really good break down and thanks for being willing to tie in controversial topics that relate to the Chosen! Your point about deconstruction is a good one, but as you said you still need to rely on the scriptures as you wrestle with these ideas about God. This does give me a lot of empathy for the Pharisees because they did rely on the scripture and they ended up being wrong.

    "We are still students . . . " You make a good point here about how the LDS people jump on this as a possible bridge between differing points of view. They are not the only people who do this. Look back in biblical records to see a wider view of all human history. Families grow to make even more families until they become tribes, then nations. Then some don't believe in the hierarchy and rebel or depart to start their own tribe. Sometimes God divides them as in the times of Noah, Moses, or the Tower of Bable. Every prophet would write their own scripture of what God said to them to help them cope with the troubles and conflicts of their day.
    Every new prophet in Israel found conflict and sin which needed to be addressed. Like Jesus & John, each found a small following who believed them vs many who did not or would not heed their message. If not for Saul, who became Paul because 'he was a chosen vessel of the Lord,' we would not have most of the New Testament that explains many of the finer points of Christianity and the new covenant to the Gentile nations and how Christ truly is the one and only true God who rules over all the earth. It was these Gentiles who believed the message of the atonement who saw that the story of Jesus was preserved because the Jews would have killed it if not for him.
    So today, we have many versions of Christianity because we all must learn truth for ourselves in some manner and all do not agree with what has been passed down. Today we have many who do not even believe in God or that there are many gods. In a free market the discussion between us should continue until ultimately the best way to establish peace by reason of justice can happen. That's theory, of course, because until the Lord comes again to put down all contention, we fallen people will continue to contend for what we believe to be right. We must follow Jesus's example of being kind and tolerant of one another as we all continue to learn to truly love as He loved until all be converted to Him.

    Nicodemus keeps an open mind. He asks himself legitimate and concrete questions that will lead him to believe in Jesus.
    You decipher these videos with Your understanding, Your Faith. Personal interpretation.
    Faith is a personal and unique relationship specific to each person.
    Dallas Jenkins wrote this series based on the scriptures but also on his Faith and he does well. As Jonathan said in the interview, this series can touch everyone, believers or not, thanks to the way it is told.
    I love Nicodemus' answers to Samuel.

  • @oot8089

    Nicodemus is stalling. He's trying not to jump to conclusions and investigate the situation slowly. He is right tho, Shmuel is being overly ambitious/greedy.

  • @RoyCyberPunk

    Wow taking what Nicodemus said in that scene to try to validate mormonism or anything outside the Bible as scripture truly feels like jumping the shark, Godzilla and MechaGodzilla together it's quite a tangential stretch to take.

    Didn’t God take other forms at times? (Burning bushes, an animal breaking Jacob’s hip, etc)

    • @sherrylyn7194
      @sherrylyn7194 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It was an angel that wrestled with Jacob. Sorry, I noticed it said an animal.

    • @TheChosenSleuth
      @TheChosenSleuth  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      No, he may have presented to someone in other ways, but no one would say that God was the burning bush. For the Angel of the Lord who wrestled with Jacob, many people believe this to be a pre-incarnate Jesus. Remember anyone who looks at the face of the father would die as he warns Moses etc.

    Schmuel looks at God through human logic. Many read scripture the same way. JMO
    Also, Jesus quoted from much of the Old Testament. He did not quote from Book of Mormon. Neither did any of the Apostles or Paul etc. Even Revelation leads back to Old Testament passages. Jesus told John the Baptist "I'm the One. I'm it!" when He answered John's questions by doing things prophesied for the Conquering Messiah. He did not say to look for another - no matter what the name of said prophet. 🙄

    Gen 6:1-4, deut 32. Psalm 82, acts chp 2, the ahab judgement scene from other elohim and the divine council and the court room scene of job. Satan doesnt fall until rev 12 when jesus is born. There are other big players besides the devil out there. They are disembodied spirits of nephalim.

    Have you ever heard of Dr. Michael Heiser? He has several books, seminars and youtube videos. One place to start would be the unseen realm. This brings us back to what the writers are writing in context "news flash, the disciples read books." This is why you see john use perfect greek until revelation, he purposely makes grammar errors as markings to look into the old testiment.
