- I think it's official - Lou and I have become dirty hippies! But after 24 hours of deep cleaning and extreme decluttering, we are finally ready to enjoy van life again without all the chaos and mess. And it turns out cleaning the van was actually a really enjoyable experience, so hopefully, we'll be able to keep Ody this clean for the rest of 2019!

We live on a sailboat and bins are our saviours! I thought it would be a bigger hassle but have found it to be the simplest solution. Smaller bins can organize 'like' items easily. Enjoy the journey!
One of the most inspiring things about your posts is that you show the nuts and bolts, and even the rather stinky, gritty aspects of van life. Rather than being off-putting, it's reassuring to know it isn't PR or a fad. It's refreshing.

My husband and I only go out in our van a couple of times a year. But there was one year where we didn't and it was left to 'simmer' (hubby was very ill). I went in and did a 'leave me to it' clean.What a complete difference in van experience.
I love watching you both too. Hubby and I met late in life otherwise we would've been doing the same!! More power to you-- keep going!
The outcome of the deed is so gratifying.....that you swear you will never let it go again! Maybe making a schedule to do it weekly, or whatever suits you best and keeping each other accountable will help. What a job you two! I think the white paint is a help because it is much more revealing than any other color. You two have a great sense of commitment and didn't stop till the job was done!
Also a small bottle with water and tee-tree oil and a spray nozzle can be used for a shower in the smallest of spaces... ... a small dehumidifier would keep the van dry and you could use the water from it too...

Some tips to make cleaning easier:
#1 Magic Eraser for pained surfaces. (Saves painted surfaces)
#2 line cabinets & fridge w/ placements (dollar store in USA) that can be easily removed & cleaned. (Protects surfaces & easy to clean one at at time as needed. Messes clean off easier on slick surface. Protects wood cabinets & looks nicer.)

look into pet plumbing pipe, it’s flexible and smooth. All those little ridges on your flex pipe are areas that your liquid mat sit and over time hardens.
You’re back! And what a motivating video to start back with 💪🏼 I have to say, from my experience in living in a micro apartment with husband and toddler, it is so much harder to keep up on cleaning. Because in tiny spaces everything gets out of hand soooo quickly. But boy does it feel good to re-set! And yes, I should clean more too 😂

You need to wax your wood after cleaning with detergent to feed it and water proof it :)

Yes, very inspiring. I must clean my fridge! One suggestion. When I deal with my composting toilet I use disposable latex gloves. Quite cheap from Mercadona (Spanish supermarket chain). By the way, your van looks great! This was the first time I have seen it. Makes a very pleasant change from seeing a Mercedes Sprinter!

Shelf liner paper in the kitchen to save the paint and make cleaning easier!!!
***You should have bins in the 'death section' that you throw stuff into so you can just slide them out to get stuff or organize. It's kinda silly that you have to physically get down into that area. Really enjoyed watching you guys clean and organize though. I know how rewarding it is when you're all done with that sorta of stuff :)
I feel the intro so much! Our flat isn't clean at the moment too. My hubby is a carpenter and drags dirt from work into our flat. Our flat should be vacuumed once a day but we really dont want to 😅

maybe correctly sized totes that could have another use to hold stuff in. Or, bungee cords attached to the wood to hold stuff in? I think you can also buy nets to attach and hold stuff in place.

There's lots of things I like about your videos. First and foremost is that you genuinely love each other and you can tell it's an adventure for you both. Secondly, it's a real van life van. There's lots of pretty vans with loads of money spent on them but they look like an ikea catalogue or worse - a Pinterest stalker - but yours is a bit like mine, built for purpose but still looks good. Thirdly, just keep the videos coming guys 😁

Cleaning day:D it is funny,since I live in the car I clean much less than I did when back home in an appartment.. just the car gives me the illusion I don't need to clean it, but the reality is in your video haha:D I am envy for the toilet,we don't have it.. our car is small Toyota Hiace, next time I will go for the high roof version of van for sure
