RIP to Roland he and his kind are what made America great in such a short time, for a nation to go from nothing to a superpower in less than 250 years is astounding, simple things invented and reinvented here made the world a better place despite some who will knock America it's still the best country on the planet bar none.

@@hopeandgracetompkins3707 He did express good wishes and complimented his ingenuity in building something himself that works as well as or maybe better than something simply purchased. It took two years for a snowflake like you to find a man who made a compliment and a warranted observation of how people act on the internet critiquing the culmination of someone’s skills while personally having none relevant to the subject at hand. Knowing nothing about you, I’m left draw the conclusion that you must resemble that level of life accomplishment and are two years late to be offended. Or maybe you’re one of these “social justice keyboard warriors” types who like to get offended on the behest of others and is a tad thin-skinned yourself. But I don’t know you from Adam, so I am left to my own speculation. This country needs more men like this man who can salvage, design, and build something useful instead of just throwing it away and buying a new one. Rainbows and hugs don’t get work done.

Isn't that true. We are losing more and more people from this generation that looked for a solution to things with simple, not overly complicated ways. What saddens me is that too many people think they need to go to college, when in fact, we need more people with trades and who are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Don't get me wrong, we need college educated people too, but what are we going to do when we don't have people like Mr Cotnoir around and we need things fixed or created?

    • @reecenewton3097

Right. And this underscores my theory, never throw anything away. He just happened to have or knew where to find an old diesel engine, had the old pickup in good running order, knew how to weld up a framework for the blower, knew which end of a wrench was the handle, and so on. There were hours of enjoyable contemplation and "figuring out" going on before ever a tool was picked up. The most fun is figuring it all out.

Sad that he's moved on from us, a Great innovator for certain! I'm sure when he arrived at the Pearly Gates that St. Peter was anxious to go build something with him! Be looking for refined models of pickup truck mounted snowblowers, and you'll see your dad's innovation taking the normal course of product evolution. My family was full of innovators. One of the most public inventions was in 1970 my dad bought a brand new flat nosed ford van to turn into a camper for a family of 5. He cut the entire top off and built the very first solid camper top with beds and cabinets up there. The neighbors said he was crayzee, then our second camping trip, two cars showed up at our camp site, 5 people got out and started taking pictures and video of the camper, inside and out, and someone handed my dad a check...Us kids had no clue what was going on. My dad handed the guy some drawings, and the people drove off. Later we found out that was the CEO of Chinook camper company. It wasn't long and they were making fiberglass molds to go on the tops of vans, and the latest factory models today sell for $50k and up. We are Thankful to that generation for the convenient machines we have today. This current generation needs an instruction book for paper airplanes...........

I cringed for him at the thought of a 3 point hitch unit. I said to check and see if there was any way to put the blower on the front. He asked. They set that tractor up a lot like your design. Nothing like tasting and wearing stinking, hot, hydraulic oil. A shield would be a good plan. Couldn't get out of the cab fast enough! Happened to me once in the 70's.
Great job with what he had available. With all of the attention to detail, I would incorporate a solenoid, mechanical linkage/ cable for the throttle also.
      Engineering at it's best!
Rest in peace. God may have a 'tinker list' for craftsman----!?

Jason Unknown, I agree that could really wreck your day on ya but lots of equipment through the years have had valves and valve banks in close proximity to the operators. Sure, things have happened but it was the exception not the norm. I'm not lookin' to argue, just mentioning a point is all.

He removed all of the mowers and put the auger on the front. Pto all ready there. All he needed to do was make up brackets to attach the auger. Pretty cool machine. Rear steering of course
