I’m 14, play guitar a lot and are in love with the ramones. However, I just found out today that all the members of the Ramones had passed away and I’m really sad 😔. I hope me and this new generation can light the fire within to help bring the Ramones and rock n roll onward toward the future. Long live Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee and Tommy🤘🙏😢

Some of it could be the air pollution that killed them. Joey in particular since he was often sick, Johnny maybe a bit, but Tommy probably smoked himself to death while Dee Dee overdosed. They all lived in New York City area, and if you look back to video footage and photos of the city from the 60s - 70s, air quality was *ATROCIOUS.* Especially on Thanksgiving Week 1966. Cars didn't have anti-air pollution catalytic converters mandated until the mid 70s, and even then, the Catalytic Converters were primitive (even my 1990 Mercury has stinky exhaust, unlike a car made for 2001, which just doesn't.) Cars used leaded gasoline starting in the 1920s, too, and that probably led to a whole generation or two of crime by making previous generations a bit dumber and more aggressive. There's not much air circulation with buildings in the way, either - and supposedly, people used to lock themselves away in their houses/apartments to stay away from the crime in the night because it was just *SO* bad in NYC. You and I are both too young to have seen it, but New York City was a large shithole in a lot of ways back then. From the late 60s to the early 1980s, there were something like 100,000 cars abandoned in varying states of decay just out in the street. Anyone who had a car that was broken (like with a broken transmission) might just leave it in the street, and then there was a ring of car thieves that would steal parts off cars, then leave the husks out to rot. I've looked at pictures of a few of the more polluted beaches at the time. There were trash dumps around the beaches, cars rotting on the beaches and in the water, oil going into the waterways. Though, I also wonder how much of it was Joey's alcohol that did it, and how much it was Johnny seemingly not liking Vegetables that did him in. (Don't ask me why, but for some reason, I think he'd have been better off with Celery commonly in his diet.) Tommy could have been better off without cigarettes, and Dee Dee by going after something better and more fulfilling than heroin.
The Ramones put on a great show. Saw them many times at CBGB's and Max's Kansas City in NYC. No one else sounded like the Ramones! One of a kind. RIP to all of them.

The acoustics in Vega's bedroom were dim, I think the building was built 1900s, the walls were brittle, a them up there, jamming, for weeks had caused structural damage, you could hear them, out n the street. Pretty bitchen actually.
