I'd say this is an upgrade. It's lighter by a lot, makes it have a better power to weight ratio. This also handles better. Great Upgrade if you ask me.
Did you know adding the fp3 or anything but a harley tuner voids your warranty? It sucks, but it does...some dealers won't mind but most do unfortunately
Yes, fortunately my dealer was kind enough to hook me up. I had them install the cruise control and they called me in to reset the FP3 to my stock map before they plugged it in. It did not flag my bike, and afterwards I flashed the performance map back in. Not sure if this works every time, or if the system just missed it? V&H even sent me a new map with the cruise option activated because when my local dealer activated it on to my stock map I lost it once I flashed it back. When I flashed the performance map I had, it didn't have cruise activated. I called V&H support and they took care of it.
@@gunnyreed4229 well that's good, I have a 2017 iron 883 I'm going to trade in this weekend for a new 2020 low rider S, I can't wait. How much was cruise control?
@@PkwyDrive13 correct, but you will have to get it flashed. Either by Harley or V&H if you get the FP3. Because it doesn't come with cruise, it has to be added (flashed) into your ecm.
Great video, beautiful bike. How does the Pro Pipe sound? I'm considering getting the V&H Pro Pipe or Thunderheaders on my Low Rider S. Does the Pro Pipe have good rumble at idle, are they as loud as a Thunderheader exhaust?
From what I've heard and read online, the thunderheader is a louder exhaust. At idle the pro pipe has a nice deep tone, but gets much louder at higher rpm's. I'm not a fan of extremely loud pipes, so the pro pipe was a better choice for me. I do a lot of pack riding and loud pipes can get annoying after a while.
Did you install the cruise control yourself as well and then take it to the dealer to flash it or did the dealer do all the work? I'm going be adding risers to my FXLRS and will add the cruise control as well.
If you are not using a tuner then Harley will flash it as part of the install. I am running an FP3 so I just had them install the cruise with the stock map that was stored to the bike. Then Vance and Hines sent me a map with the cruise enabled.
What size are your LD’s 14? Do you get trip codes for installing the LEDs? Harley here in CA the bikes tattle tale everything you install. * big eye roll. At least that’s what I’m told. I want to install a moonies rear low profile taillight ... but I don’t wanna have any codes pop up. If you could edit your description about your vid and list all the parts and who you used maybe you’ll get free swag 🤙🏽 Nice bike Marine! Love Sid Squid 😉
Gunny Reed good to know. The dealership told me it will throw codes and will have to flash your bike $$. So most likely it’s a scare tactic to not have me work on my own bike.
Thanks for the video, how do you like the Flo MX style pegs so far. They seem too small to me. Break pad should be bigger in my opinion. looks great though.
Sweet bike n great job on moding. I have same bike n thinking about relocating my gauges on top as you did yours.... Did you have to remove tank to do the wiring as connecting gorilla cables- plug n play? Thanks for the detail video.
No, I did not have to remove the tank for this mod. You will have to de-pin the wire harness to fit into the new casing. I used a small safety pin and had no issues with it.
Lowrider S is my next bike, or a Fatbob. I am starting to lean more towards the Lowrider S but who knows, that could change. I NEED a softail with inverted forks, dual discs. I am leaning towards the Lowrider because it has mid controls and as much as I love everythig about the Fatbob I can't do the forward controls anymore. A nice 2-1, some nice tbars and a seat and some motor goodies and I would call it a day, although everytime I say that I upgrade everything from motor, suspension, brakes and everything in between hahaha. A lot of people don't realize that a lot of Harleys already have braided cables from the factory and replace braided with braided when they don't have to (stock length to stock length). It is a little different when replacing short cables for bars that need to be longer. As a Canadian I feel your pain when it comes to ordering and shipping only it is the other way around lol. I will likely end up with a Lowrider S and a FatBob....only time will tell😂 Your bike is absolutely beautiful! I love where you are going with it!
Yes, you will have to extend the clutch and brake cables. I also had to remove the wiring organizer in the frame to give me the extra inch for the turn signal wires. Gorilla cables sells a turn signal extension kit that is plug and play. Had i known it was going to be that close i would have gotten the extension, but by removing the plastic wiring organizer it worked fine. I used magnum shielding for my brake and clutch upgrade.
Love it! Similar to mine but I've yet to do the gauge relocation. I do recommend going with a lay-down license plate holder. You can get em cheap on Amazon ;-j
I'm afraid to say the fairing is what you might term as form over function. Looks good but as functional as a ashtray on a motorcycle. I would delete fairings full stop, other than that you have done an excellent job bike looks gorgeous. Cheers 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🥃🍺🍺🍺🍺🥃🥃🥃🥃😎🇳🇿
Mate, enjoy the lighter weight motorcycle as I do, you owe no one any apology for ditching the heavyweight bagger. You're not downgrading, you are riding the bike you want to ride. Just look at the others wrestling with their heavyweight machines when parking, when stopping at traffic lights after a long tirering day's ride. You have a sexy mean, lean fighting machine - have fun with it. and enjoy it. I recently took my FXLR on a 3000 mile trip, two-up. The bagger would have been more comfortable, but hey, I wouldn't change a thing. I'm done with big heavy bikes. Suggest you clean up the back end with a lay back number plate and try putting those mirrors on the underside of the bars. A cold start with those ProPipes would have been nice.
Dirty Dixie performance has windshields replacements for that fairing.im just waiting for the 12 inch windshield to be stocked again . Only cost 169
Awesome bike...great upgrades, well done. This is one of my dream bikes!
Brother I just traded my 17 SGS to do the same and it was definitely worth it. I love this thing and my FXBB . Awesome set up man !
Dude rad bike! I wish I would’ve waited for this instead of my softail streetbob
Nice mods brother. I have the same bike and can’t wait to do some mods myself. Hope to see more videos of you on your bike. Ride safe bro.
Looks slick. What length did you go with on the guerrilla cable for the gauges?
How long are the cable extensions for your gauges 22”, 25”, or 28”? Thanks

Yeah man!!! I just sold my 2018 CVO RG and get a low rider s! 🤟🏼👊🏼💪🏼👍🏼
Check out Dark Parts UK for a replacement tank dash for the gauge relocation. I think you'll like it better than that block off plate.

How the heck it will work with his risers? Anyway. The whole idea is super weird.

Nope, I used the original stock wiring. Had to cut a few zip ties to give you the extra room. I did have to replace the clutch and brake cables.

Considering moto bars with a 9.5 inch riser without the sweep back. I'm 5' 10'', do you think the sweep back on the riser is necessary?
With you being 5'10" you shouldn't need the pull back. I'm 5'9" and my Lucky Dave's have 1"pull back and are perfect for me.
