riseup my niece 🤗 great video interviews and coverage of the festival 👏👏👏😄 give thAnkhs 💖 it's a great event ... good to see africans from home and abroad collaborating and doing business and I love the food/menu fusion
Did you watch all the way through? As that's excatly what these ones don't have. But I totally don't disagree that the home grown ones are better. We need more poultry farms.
Googled the Halal angle & found out Perdue farms & Crescent foods are the two companies known to produce halal chicken. There’s a proliferation of Organic chicken as a healthy choice in the market in the States . Is the USDA selling these chickens or giving them away ? As the poultry market is slowly growing in Gambia, I wonder if the USDA angle will suppress chicken production in Gambia. That will be bad for local farmers. I hope the people ( Gambians ) consider to support local farmers rather than Foreign products. All the best.
From my understanding it's being sold not given. This could never take over the local farmers, personally I'm more for it, as it'll produce more jobs and help boost the economy of Gambia. There's always room for anyone that wants to be in the same business.
@ if there are good potential economic opportunities that is great. That will take a few years to assess, however if it is balanced to not stifle local growers. Granted I don’t live there, I still would like to see emphasis on promoting local production 70%- 30% for security. That could be a plan B in case the supply chain runs into issues & the American chicken industry is not able to deliver. All the best
@ElimanGibba Yes, for sure, it'll take time. I will hopefully be doing a video to promote a friend's new chicken farm. Also, this is only one part of Gambia, so its reach is only so far. I feel that as long as companies come to Gambia with a genuine want to help push the economy and provide better sources of food, for instance, then they'll be welcomed. But yes, I agree that a balance can be good in the long run.
@ Gambia’s biggest workforce & economy( in my opinion ) should be oriented on commercial farming because the labor force doesn’t need to be trained as one would say like in Manufacturing & Tech industries etc . Everyone can farm or should be able because the good elements are there : Good/sufficient rains. Good soil . River Gambia can be harvested to supply/irrigate farms . It is good to let in foreign business but it has to be diversified ( Indians own 99% of super markets . Lebanese carved out their markets & other nationalities at a bigger rate than Gambians….. all those $$$ eventually go back to those countries to pay back loans or put in saving accounts … rain day savings ) to make it easy for locals . That is a huge economic imbalance & in the end Gambians are left to compete in tiny little areas of commerce perpetuating poverty & despair. Hope we get to a point where living standards/conditions improve to lift people up . Continue your good work . Respects

Home grown chickens are far much better than those American chickens which are loaded with steroid and antibiotic.
