Everyone else scrambles to stop this by finding other youkai and getting items together to form an anti-falling-city measure, which they plan to cobble together by using Scarlet Devil Mansion as a base from which to deploy their Big Anti-Falling City Thing. As it turns out, Marisa decides there's a better way to deal with this problem, which is to see if she can't just fly up there and Master Spark it, which only succeeds in putting our heroines down one Marisa when she crashes into it like a bug on a windshield. But this still leaves lots of sick youkai everywhere, which Reimu must fight through in order to find the original sick youkai, who eventually is found in a gargantuan crater in the middle of Gensokyo nobody decided to check first. She lays out that she's been in contact with Mima, who has finally been able to turn Marisa, or rather, Marisa's broken, crash-shattered body, into what she intended for Marisa to be all along, which is apparently a floating purple fireball with an "M" written into her forehead. Reimu fights Multiple Broken Bones Marisa, it's really intense, the soundtrack is great, and wins, leaving the sick youkai and Reimu alone to fight one another for the last time, seriously, no fooling this time. Which they win, except now not only is Marisa likely paralyzed from taking a falling city to the chest, she is now only a torso, head and right arm, while the sick youkai is now a puddle of mucus with a head sticking out of it. She shoots Reimu and Marisa, and with her last breath, Marisa blasts the sick youkai before she and Reimu pass out, with Reimu's last vision being of the previous Hakurei Shrine maiden approaching her to fix her...some...how. Fast forward to a month or so later, and Reimu is off to investigate another incident, this time wielding Marisa's mini-hakkero, promising to fight on in her memory. Oh yeah, and the sick youkai hired Sanae to fight Reimu and Marisa a couple times because I guess mercenary work is one way to keep the Moriya Shrine funded or something, I dunno. Did I get everything?
Reimu: Who are you and why are you here? Sigma: I came here to destroy the youkai, it all seems. Care to join me to this destruction? Reimu: I'm only trying to keep a balance beetween youkai and humans. You look like a half human-robot god craving full destruction.... Sigma: Balance? I'm trying to destroy an infested area of all the living pitiful weaklings that can't compare to reploids and humans, foolish maiden.... Reimu: You seem to act and sound evil. I refuse to accept your offer of defeating the youkai. I shouldn't bear to see the youkai get mauled and ripped apart by the likes of you, but here we are...... Sigma: so be it, Reimu. I didn't need you anyway to help me, youkai sympathizer. Reimu: Huh..... how did you know my name? Sigma: Questions later. I'll destroy you good with my doom buster, and then X will be next to die! *[evil laughter]* Reimu (speaking to herself): X? Is he that other version of a familiar video game character that I saw before? *[Battle proceeds]*
I'm not a big touhou fan, all I really know about it is a buncha anime girls and decent music. But now that I hear the soundfont used for one of my favorite video game villains of all time in one of his better themes, gotta say I'm growing appreciation for it. praise be sigma, infecting everything to make it better.
I recommend listening to more Touhou music. The whole series is based on the music and it can get really amazing. Touhou 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 12, 15, 17 in particular have really great music.
