I ride a folding bike with 20inch, non-fat wheels and front suspension. The "no chain guard" is not an issue with that type of main sprocket (with raised guards on both sides). Works beautifully (never derails) and never a problem after two years or riding. As for the lack of internal frame routing for the cables....that is a positive! Mine had all cables mounted inside the frame and it was a problem when folding (the brake and gear shifting cables are not bendy enough causing pinching and fraying of electrical wires in the bundle). I re-routed the brake and gear cables OUTSIDE the frame (no small feat)...and the whole process of folding works a whole lot better now.
Somehow I missed this great review. All your reviews are great, but this one seems over the top. Wow, what a ebike. A Fat ebike, it even folds up to go into my Jeep, decent power with a throttle. And what I really like is that it is close to the ground, I have short legs. My needs are simple, putt putt down some easy trails around my house and go to the grocery store. I'm thinking this could be the one that puts the grin on my face and save some cash too.
Can you ride this without holding the handle bar (how stable the steering is)? Can you compare to other fatbikes, how this bike handles at top speed? Nice review!
Thanks for the review! You really do a great job! How does this compare to the Voltbike Mariner? Will you be doing a review of the Mariner in the future?
Hey! Sorry to comment not on this bike particularly but what is good for a 150 pound guy that has to deal with pretty steep hills on the road... Easy Motion Evo Cross or the Specialized Turbo X? Would love to hear your opinion. Thanks. Didn't know if you would see the message I sent you.
***** Either one of those two ebikes would perform alright with your weight if you approach with some momentum. I think the Turbo motor has a higher top speed and more powerful peak out put. If you're going up and then back down, the Turbo has regen which could be useful. If you really need climbing power and don't mind not having a throttle I'd suggest one of the Bosch powered ebikes like the Haibike 29er or Trekking (both are ~$4k) electricbikereview.com/category/haibike/ you could pay a bit more for the Urban if you appreciate that road style more: electricbikereview.com/haibike/xduro-urban/ sorry for the delay on comments, I'm super slammed with reviews right now and having to prioritize filming, editing etc. so comments are taking a back seat.
No worries man you're hard at work. Thanks for the reply either way. I do like the idea of having a throttle just for fun or if I get super tired for any reason. I also picked those 2 because they're very hidden when it comes to whether they're electric or not aside from the lights on the specialized (which you should be able to turn off... Very dumb). Thanks for the other suggestions but I do want something hidden. If I do end up liking the easy motive cross i'll probably switch out the tires possibly because I really do like the tires on the specialized...And maybe get some lights I can turn on and off on that one. To be able to take off the screen on the easy motion eve crosss is also a plus. I guess I do like that the specialized has a better top speed and higher output which would be good on hills... Although the easy motion has throttle that's 20MPH which might be nice to throttle while going up hill. SO TORN
Hi I'm around 300 pounds would this bike or the rad rover be better I'm from the UK so I'm looking into one of these bikes I like both but which one do you think would b better for a person my weight ...most respect cheers m8
Of course it does, they are all the same generic bike with a different sticker logo slapped on and a few minor specs differences that the factory offers to be customized by the resellers.
@electricbikereview i see this design for foldable electric fatbike under many different brands. Is it a common frame builder and all the brands just put on the specs?
Generic bike from same factories. Just different logos. Here's one original factory model without any random brand stickers: th-cam.com/video/EKDFXtmznUg/w-d-xo.html
Sebithekit KRAWALL Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can with the Bafang display but they might be switching it to the other simpler display used on the Trail Viper. Might be worth asking the company via email through their site: www.ssrmotorsports.com/store/contact_us.php
This Trail Viper E-bike is total junk. Everything is loose, from the kickstand, to the handlebars to the headlight(which never worked). When you try to tighten any of the hex key bolts, they strip like plastic. Such a piece of junk. The shifter is ridiculous. The bike weighs so much, it's pointless to have any gears on this as it takes more strength to pedal this super heavy bike than any normal person would exert. Obviously anyone promoting this bike is doubling or tripling their money. This is another made in China junk product and I hope other consumers don't get taken like I did.
Thanks Henry! Sorry to hear this ebike didn't live up to your hopes... It's important to get feedback like you've shared because my time is limited with demo models and they are usually pre-tuned and checked so I don't end up having issues. I didn't get paid to do this review or any other, for me it was fun and unique but I only spent an hour or two with it and hadn't heard from others who owned it

This was a great review. Interesting and fast paced, also honest, you don't sound like you're reciting a sales pitch.

Very nice video
Thanks Mark! Glad you enjoyed it :D
Looks identical to the VoltBike Mariner? except the voltbike has metal folding pedals? and a few other cosmetic differences. fenders etc.
