I actually think it looks very cohesive. Unlike many sequels and franchises, this film in tone, style and world building seems to pick up right from the first. I think it’s cool that they’re doing something unique with the musical element, and adding a character/actress like Lady Gaga’s Harley gives it individuality already. I think this might be an Alien / Aliens situation, where both films complimented each other but stood on their own.
I think it looks very interesting. The funny part is my wife loved the initial trailer of the first movie but when we watched that she was freaked out by the movie.
When the trailers and teasers for Joker '19 came out, I remember all the hate, confusion and criticism that followed it right up until the release, and the rest is history. It is strange that people haven't learned from this with this new film
It's clearly going to have musical elements. I highly highly doubt they'd use the same "the girl i love isn't real" twist twice...that's way too lazy writing. If anything I think it's like the Telltale Batman games where Harley is the one being a bad influence on him

I think it will be much more subtle while drawing out the obvious influence music and dance had on Fleck in the first film. This trailer actually showed enough to give me more confidence in their decision on this one. Juaquin doesn't just join a film for money - there has to be something there to draw him to a film - and a sequel? - He hates the very idea of them, so something intrigued him about this project. (Again, the jaded out there will say money, but he has plenty of that and is more interested in the craft of film and acting.)

Was/am still worried how it'll turn out, but I liked the trailer... biggest surprise for me was seeing Steve Coogan! 😂 Think it may possibly be... in the first movie we were left wondering at the end if it actually happened or it was all in Arthur's head - maybe this movie is the same premise, but it's all in Harley's head and that's the reason it's a musical?!
What if Harley actually manipulating Joker into thinking that they are in love but actually she is just using him for her goals. Maybe she is Frankln Murray's daughter, maybe shes out for revenge.
I am not big on musicals. But if the musical aspect is told as to how they see the world around them, I'd get that. I still hope she is his therapist to start with, and then you just watch her descend into madness in this visual style depicted in the teaser where she ends up as an inmate. Though ngl musical or not the first movie definitely hit a point that people got mad about. So it'll be fun to see what they get mad about next with this one.
The only thing I'm personally concerned about is are they changing Harley's backstory where she isn't a psychiatrist in this version? Aside from that, I'm pretty intrigued with this movie. I personally love musicals so I don't mind some singing numbers, however I do want it to make sense. I kinda want their singing numbers to either be in their shared minds or they put on music themselves and sing to the music.

While the performance was AMAZING, the character work was extremely flawed, and at times self-indulgent. There are things that the joker has NEVER cared about, ever, from birth. This first film suggests that his “Villain Arch” stemmed from these events that were fabricated by the writers. If this were the real joker, violence would have been more forward. Nothing would ever be turned into “a game” and the name “joker” would no longer apply. While it was one of the BEST DIRECTED, and BEST ACTED films, the writing was garbage. It also had the highest income of any rated R film world wide, over a billion dollars. Here is what they don’t mention, the USA was less than 1/4 of that. Asian and southern European countries were not pleased with this film. So now they have to do a sequel. The only choice they have is to keep the original film’s level of violence, keep the directing and production team, but turn the writing on its head. Again, 69% means a large number of people who went to the first won’t even acknowledge this film. They are attempting to please the critics.

I thumbed it up on the actual Trailer only cause that last shot had me laughing. Other then tht, I agree, was odd, didn't care for it much.

I've rewached the trailer a lot, I hope is not that kind of movie that try to be so artistic and full of itself that becomes a pain to watch
