Great job again. Marvelous research. I hope to offer another perspective from an American Beatles fan, not that either is right or wrong. I part company from the camp that says only the British releases counted, and the American releases are red haired step children. The way the world was at that time, international popular music was novel. They successfully found American publishers, and the American releases were how the Americans gained their introduction to the Beatles, and THAT IS JUST FINE. They are not worse or better than the British releases, they are just different. I grew up on the American releases, and if I am the only voice in the wilderness to sing their praises, so be it. I LOVE the American releases. * * I know some voices will go, -the British releases were first, I'll regard this attitude along with many families grudges- "you always favored my older sister/brother!" The American releases were FANTASTIC. The British releases were FANTASTIC. I'll never be dissuaded. Peace and Love.

The first album I ever bought was the Beach Boys. The second was "With the Beatles." I wore that thing out. I didn't know about "Please, Please Me." Needless to say, I bought every Beatles album over the next 9 years or so, particularly dwelling on "Sargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" when we were smoking a lot of cannabis and taking Purple Owsley. Trippy album. I've also bought every one of their albums on cassette, CD and tape, so I've added to the royalty fund. They shook up the world, as Muhammed Ali said.

You are INCORRECT, the first time Americans got their hands on a Beatles LP was Vee Jay's "Introducing the Beatles" which was their version of "Please Please Me" LP. I was there, you weren't. I saw the Fabs LIVE, only 60 feet away, were you there? Nope:-) Just saying....you had to have BEEN there to understand and feel the "visceral impact" of the FABS. I recall, as a kid, when I Wanna Hold Your Hand came out in late December 63, only a month after the traumatic assassination of JFK by US covert Fascists, and then suddenly, BOOM, we heard the amazing sound unlike anything produced in the states. My brother was already a pro musician with his own bands so we were well versed on the music scene but nothing compared to the wild, unusual harmonies and wall of sound coming off that recording, later turning out to be a bit of studio magic added to John Lennon's Rickenbacker (something they couldn't quite reproduce live). Read the amazing book "Hearing Aids to the Beatles: A Musician's Perspective" which discusses extremely arcane recording details on many tracks...it's one of the best I've read outside of Recording the Beatles or Lewisohn's, Beatles Recording Sessions.

Eye had a dream one night had a fight with my dad getting old trying to control his diet. Went to sleep. In my dream he died but then all the sudden he woke up and was young again and he poked me in the belly and laughed. Was very distraught. Woke up. The song we can work it out was ringing in my head. I went into his room and hugged him visibly upset. He was watching TV as always this very old movie was on. There was a preist talking to two people about letting their kids marry. The preist said " if they understand just how hard marriage is and still want to then they should" the strange part is the preist then sang the chorus we can work it out we can work it out. Dad's still here and I try not to fight with him since then.

I think there is an error....the narrator says that "With the Beatles was recorded quite sporadically due to the band's other commitments. Concert tours across the U.S." etc...
This cannot be so, as "Meet the Beatles" ( U.S. ) was basically taken from "With the Beatles" ( U.K.), which was released on Nov.22, 1963, about two and a half months before the Beatles ever set foot on American soil. In footage of their first U.S. visit, you can see "shots" of fans holding this U.S. album. "With the Beatles" was recorded before any concert tours of So American "commitments" were not a part of the reason that "With the Beatles" was recorded sporadically.

Yep. That’s my favorite Floyd album-The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Norman smith brought them in to the Beatles recording session of Lovely Rita and it inspired their process on their song Pow R Toc H

Hm. I dunno. "McCartney-Lennon" sounds kinda cool.
That does suck for Paul, though. That's really cool that he was willing to concede that Lennon-McCartney has a better ring to it, but he was justifiably a little honked that people thought John had anything to do with "Yesterday."
And I really do think McCartney-Lennon sounds pretty cool.
