Handling is not the weapon's attack speed, but about how much stamina you use by attacking with said weapon. Attacking speed is dependent on the weapon's size. The more handling the weapon has, the less stamina you use by attacking with it.

I actually had the Clicker mod spawn for me a few times when I played The Following on PS4. It was from killing alpha volatiles and looting them. I think I got some from hives too. But of course, this is random. And it's not a guaranteed drop.

A double handed weapon can have higher handling (theoretically, like with mods and upgrades), and still be slower than a small knife with very low handling.

Gonna be that one guy. AKSHUALLY 🤓There's no direct correlation between handling and swing speed. A separate parameter of swing speed is hardcoded to each weapon type (bats, long swords, icepicks, saws, etc.) and mods don't change that. What they do change is the amount of stamina spent on each swing. Also, it's pretty easy to check, install a buncha King mods on some high-grade two-hander weapon (that accepts lotta mods), and you'll get a higher handling value than, say machete. Still, the machete WILL swing faster.
TL:DR - Handling - stamina per swing. Swing speed is hardcoded to weapon type (can't be changed).

You can repair weapons several times after their durability runs out by pressing R, but the amount of repairs is limited and depends on the weapon's quality. As to why you can't find any guns, that's probably because you're too low level or haven't progressed the story (usually you start getting lots of them when you get to sector 0).

You're missing quite a few blueprints. For example Strobe Knight and my favourite ,Toxic Reaper.
I avoid fire blueprints because of the poison biters. Killing them with fire they will release a small explosion, damaging you and luring virals to your location.
I would put a link here to a map with all the blueprint locations, but TH-cam doesn't like links in the comments.

If you Google " I put together a list with all 4 maps and the blueprints that can be found" you'll get the maps for the blueprints.
The Slums doesn't include the last Dev blueprint added just before the release of DL 2, the Moka Paw. It's at the George Romero memorial.
Also, there's a way to get guns that surpass the damage cap. For example you can get 14k damage shotguns . The Devs themselves confirmed it to be legit a couple of years ago.

Easy difficulty gives you less time to loot. Nightmare mode gives 2+ minutes to loot the room. Always play on nightmare for the most possible time.
It makes no sense. It just works.

To be exact Normal give you 1 min to loot, hard gives 2 and nightmare gives three....also with every one people you play the time gets lower by 10 seconds, that means 4 people co op would give you 2 and a half mins to loot the vault on nightmare difficulty

Once you get into old town you get better upgrades, but the maximum potential is achieved when you get to legend levels.

Advice: use a mod which disables lockpicks on chests to get the weapons in the prison easily.
Advice 2: use speed booster or the quai dagger or both (optional) as both provide a speed boost to get through the soldiers.
