This song reminds me of Chalky White’s character when he was sitting on his porch during the last episode season 4, his character did love his wife but torn with Margot’s character.
@@Lisa_MS64 Ineeded, it feels as if though she'd arrived from better times when music wasn't mass-produced and artifically-flavoured by so-called talent shows. If you've got talent it just shows, even when you're singing on a corner.
It's a standout song of the series. I have loved it since I first heard it. I was rooting for Chalky. I always rooted for Michael K Williams. Omar is one of the most iconic characters of all time
Thank you for sharing this. How I wish they would put out an album of everything this wonderful woman sang on Boardwalk. I could listen to her all day long.
It brings tears to my eyes, the sadness, the poignancy, the tragedy so expertly woven into Boardwalk Empire when all the central characters come together, and Monica Bingham’s superb voice crystallises and captures so magnificently those halcyon days of prohibition.
LYRICS: I'm wild about my daddy. I want him all the time. Wild about my daddy, I want him all the time. But I don't want you, daddy, if I can't call you mine. Got the farewell blues-y, and my trunk is packed. Got the farewell blues-y, and my trunk is packed, But I don't want no daddy because that I ain't comin' back. Oh, fare you well, daddy. Hon, it's your turn now. Fare you well, daddy. Hon, it's your turn now. After all I've done, you mistreated me anyhow. Going through the wood-field feeling sad and blue. Going through the wood-field feeling sad and blue. Lord, up jumped a rabbit, said, "Mama, I've got 'em too." Pig starts to singin'. Oh, how his voice could ring! Pig starts to singin'. Oh, how his voice could ring! He says, "I'm no yellow jacket, but Lord, how I can sting!" Since my man left me, the others can't be found. Since my man left me, others can't be found, But before he left me, the other men was hangin' around. So fare you well, daddy. Someday you'll hear bad news. So farewell, daddy. Someday you'll hear bad news. When you look for your mama, she's gone with the farewell blues.
My grandfather was running liquor at this time. When he passed we found an old notebook that had the words to Barney Google handwritten. I love this song and I have to wonder if he heard this song and loved it too.
Now if only we can get full versions of 'St Louie Blues' 'Dream a little of me' 'Everybody loves my baby' and 'ain't nobody's business' from Margot Bingham.
HAUNTING,ENTRIGING,SOULFULL, WHEN I FIRST HEARD ON BOARDWALK I HAD TO HEAR ITAGAIN AND AGAIN IT WAS THE VOICE MARGO (DAUGHTER) AND THE LYRICS AND THE GUITAR YOU COULD FEEL THE TIMES AN ERA WOW.
just sat and binge-watched Boardwalk Empire once again. Amazing series till the end. Tearjacker towards end. Nucky was a great man. And this woman's music... woah
If you watched the end of season 5, you would know Nucky was not a great man at all. He pimped out a minor to the Commodore, just so he could advance his own career
This is an awesome song, thanks for posting. Although I would prefer to hear the song all acoustic because I feel the other instruments, though they do sound cool, make the song sound rather cheerful and take away blues feeling the lyrics and rhythm portray.
Nice version that starts with the way Rainey actually recorded it in 1924 with just a guitar and then shifts to how it might have sounded if she recorded it in some of her other 1924 sessions which included Chicago with Tommy Ladnier and Lovie Austin and New York with Fletcher Henderson and his brass men Howard Scott and Louis Armstrong..
@@shapphirecat it was a pivotal and sad ending to Chalky's story. Gave everything up for the love of a beautiful singer, and the child he never knew. Sacrificed himself to safe her, so she could live a life free of a man's enslavement. Beautiful
Can anyone tell me what this specific kind of music is? I mean I know it's Blues/Jazz but I listen to a lot of blues and jazz (as well as country, bluegrass, soul, do-wop, swing) and I'm finding it really difficult to discover other music with this particular vibe; that kind of bluesy almost crooning over a slow beat with a jazz band in the back. Know what I mean?
RIP Michael K Williams
This song reminds me of Chalky White’s character when he was sitting on his porch during the last episode season 4, his character did love his wife but torn with Margot’s character.
Such a shame. He was a great character actor. He owned the heck out of Albert “Chalky” White.
Sure wish they would added 5 more seasons of this show. It was a great series!!
Same. Couldn't get enough of it, loved the period and setting wouldn't have minded if they featured more of a Canadian rum running angle
She and Chalky deserved the world. Rip Michael K Williams .
I love Margot's slightly raspy but bluesy voice. It's something about her that draws you in. I absolutely love it!
Karen R it's haunting isn't it.
As if she time traveled
Doesnt hurt that she is fine as all get out either.

When i finished watching Boardwalk Empire I could not get this song out of my head. Her voice is absolutely incredible.
That’s the same exact reasonwhy I’m listening right now

There is an album with her songs on spotify!!!
What a gorgeous girl
What a tune to capture that period
Never tire of it
She is beautiful 🤗,
She and Chalky were soulmates, I love Boardwalk Empire!!
This song is such a fantastic song, with the big band sound it is timeless and melancholy.
It brings tears to my eyes, the sadness, the poignancy, the tragedy so expertly woven into Boardwalk Empire when all the central characters come together, and Monica Bingham’s superb voice crystallises and captures so magnificently those halcyon days of prohibition.
Well said Richard!
Her voice is simply amazingly beautiful.
Just can't believe the end of the show.. Amazing work since 5 seasons, and thanks for the upload ! Maitland sings like a God!
Ahhmazing voice!! An album with all the songs she did in the series need to be available for fans to buy. Her voice is soothing to the soul!

You really went to all that trouble, when the song is slow enough that if you can't understand what she's singing then you must be DEAD.
Greatest Ma' Rainey cover ever!! Thank you for posting the full length version of this song!
Agreed Ma Rainey is sublime, but the cover's bout as good as it gets.
My grandfather was running liquor at this time. When he passed we found an old notebook that had the words to Barney Google handwritten. I love this song and I have to wonder if he heard this song and loved it too.
Barney Google. That will always make me laugh. Thinking of Gyp losing his marbles on the beach, hollering goo-goo-gooooooly eye!
With the goo goo googley eyes
Absolutely beautiful!!! Looks, sound EVERYTHANG!!!!!
Now if only we can get full versions of 'St Louie Blues' 'Dream a little of me' 'Everybody loves my baby' and 'ain't nobody's business' from Margot Bingham.
They're on the OST
The soundtrack doesn't have Margot's covers of those songs.
Vol.4 and 5 do
They're hard to find since the shows been off a while
I dont see anything on amazon about it
Love this song. Voice so beautiful made me tear up a little
Great singing, and a great picture. It reminds me of some wall paintings in Pompeji.
The best season ending theme ever!!
I like this version.. with the band 😮
As we say in Glasgow - "she's a wee belter!". Gorgeous singer and a stunning girl.
love this!!!!! so glad you found the whole version!!!!
Great post thanks!!
No problem.

OMG - that's the most American thing I've ever heard.
Just fantastic. Beautiful. Wow.
Just love this song. The old Jimmy Rogers style of guitar picking makes it great.
Beautiful woman and a fantastic voice. Regards from Mexico
What a beautiful voice.
Beautiful and can sing.
Songs makes me cry bout every time.
Man, that voice is just gold. Why doesn't she pursue a music career?
Because she had the Family calling on ABC
Aw man, I really love her cover of this. DR
Luv it thanks for posting..
Good band in this cover, and Margot does it well. I like the simpler version, too, with just a guitar as accompaniment. Margot has a fine voice.
that smoking voice just classic. margot bingham the best!
Wow that voice. When i heard this song on BE my jaw almost dropped. :)
Thanks for this.
Can't get enough of Margo one sweet classy lady
I cannot believe a full version exists! Thank you for uploading! I wonder if a full version of 'St. Louis Blues' exists.
I'm in love with her 😍
Great share & song !
just sat and binge-watched Boardwalk Empire once again. Amazing series till the end. Tearjacker towards end. Nucky was a great man. And this woman's music... woah
Nucky was a horrible person at times.
If you watched the end of season 5, you would know Nucky was not a great man at all. He pimped out a minor to the Commodore, just so he could advance his own career
not a good man at all lol

Margot's version is great! I love this song.
I luv her voice it is sultry & sassy
Richard's death scene was absolutely perfect.
DAMN! What a voice!!

Pure blues, Ma Rainey who wrote this, is considered the mother of blues
GandalfTheGrey It's early blues, which is to say pure blues, roughly pre-1925.
I don't think you can call it "pure blues", the purest form of blues is the Delta Blues, and this is not it, this is more like New Orleans early jazz
i'm no authority - but I hear some ragtime elements.
Dixieland.
love this so much ~ trying to purchase it and having a very hard time... any thoughts or help?
thanks ~ found it recently after the release of the new Boardwalk Empire soundtrack a couple of months ago.
Raise a glass to Richard. Heartbreaking death.
They should add this to the Fallout Radio, If they do a Fallout in the Mojave again, then this song is required.
you can call me Daddy
can i get the words of this song
the sheet music available online for this song's guitar is questionable
RIP MICHEAL k Williams
Douggetto Sandoval ✌️
Pretty woman

Thanks a lot
