      @rizwanzaman1793 maybe instead of the prime look at the two kit zooms, then you have cover all the way from either 16mm or 18mm with the older zoom all the way upto 230mm. This is far better than a single prime. They can ghen see what type of photography be it just general/family photos, street photography, wildlie/sport etc then buy when funds available the primes best suited.

    If people think photography is expensive now, they should look at the later days of film. Good film and processing ran an average of $15./roll (36 exp.) and was higher than that in pro labs. I used to shoot 200-300 rolls a year and even doing my own black and white processing was spending up to $5000./yr. on film and prints combined. THAT was shooting with some conservation in mind. Now in digital, I can go out and shoot 100s of frames in a day, come back and delete 1/2 of them, manipulate at no cost in the computer, then print 10% of what is left at home (no darkroom required), spend maybe 25% of what I did in the film days, which adjusted for inflation is maybe 10%.

    • @TheRunningCameraMan
      @TheRunningCameraMan 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Yeah but 7 years ago you could buy and process film for under 10 euro a roll now it’s going for 30-40.

    • @flagger2020
      @flagger2020 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I used to work in a photography shop that became just an electronics shop. Cameras and good glass were expensive then, but cheaper offerings appeared more affordable to the average person, esp if you only shot a few rolls a year such as summer holiday and Xmas. If you shoot high volume, the bodies, faster computer with raid storage and specialist real photo printer makes sense snd is cheaper per shot/print. But for the average user it's over and the phone is it, no more prints.

      @SuLu_B หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      False. Give an amateur professional gear and the images will still look amateur, just maybe a bit sharper lol. This has been tested many, many times on many different channels. I'll agree that gear is especially important for sports and event coverage, but for landscapes, portraits, street, product, etc photography then it will have little to no impact.

    • @DaddyM7MD
      @DaddyM7MD หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SuLu_B that's exactly what he said tho isn't it? Look, professionals use expensive cameras because they are geared more towards them and they are easier to work with and give you great results with lower effort, but with cheap cameras it takes Alot more effort to get comparable results.

    • @SuLu_B
      @SuLu_B หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DaddyM7MD That's not what he said and that's not what I said. I said that in certain applications that are extremely unlikely for an amateur to ever find themselves in, yes more expensive gear makes a difference. But for amateur users, 99% of scenarios will genuinely have no difference. This is coming from someone that shot on DSLR for 8 years as an amateur before moving to Sony mirrorless and having real autofocus I depend on as a professional during event coverage. In the short we are commenting on, he clearly says that for an amateur in an amateur situation it will not matter. That is what I am reiterating and agreeing with. If you are a professional then you should already know what gear you need and you should also know that lusting after more expensive gear won't make you a better pro.

      @SuLu_B nah nigga, an old ahh camera ain't gonna help me get fast and bright images in low light. They can, but they're slow af on doing it. Yeah amateurs won't take advantage of everything the camera has to offer but it definitely makes it easier and better.

      Yes, you're right, but obviously that's a full frame camera. There are plenty of cheaper cameras available second hand. The example I gave with the A7 was purely to demonstrate that older models are significantly cheaper than the latest ones.

    People seam to forget that great photographers 15 years ago didn't have the technology of today, and even lenses of today, they weren't around 15 years ago, so you could pick up a 15 year old camera, with 15 year old glass and still get great results if you know what you are doing, can assess the light in your scene, know how to compose your images, know how to expose correctly, and so on.

      Thats a different issue.... "less effort with a modern camera" isn't the same as "its too expensive" ... I'd value skill, ingenuity, creativity, resource-fullness with a 15 year old camera than someone who doesn't have any of that but has a 2023 model camera.
      I've wager that someone with 15 years experience working on a 15 year old camera can still produce better, faster and with less effort than someone with a modern expensive camera who doesn't know what they are doing.

    • @thorgrimb2416

      15 years is just a bit too far back but a camera from just a few years later ie 10,to 12 years back you have the megapixels ie at least about 12 better colour rendition faster shutter speeds in mirrorless etc etc you want a cheaper camera but not be struggling because the cameras technology is limiting as soon it may limit you far more than your ability.
      Cameras like the older Sony NEX-7 still at 24 megapixel maybe the a6000 also the Fuji A series with at least 16 megapixel or now as Fujis used have gone through the roof an X-T1 maybe an X-T10 or 100 the 1 was a good semi pro with more features than a beginner would ever need and weather sealed. So many choices and we'll under 400 for the ones I mentioned add 2-3 hundred for two zooms and your set to start your journey.

If you're reading this and want a really cheap setup I would recommend a canon 40D with a 50mm f/1.8 (skip the kit lens, it really is boring, I don't like a single one of my 12000 shots that I had taken with it before getting other lenses) I would also recommend a tamron 70-300 f/4-5.6 Di VC USD. Hands down best 180€ investment of my life. It seems that every time I go out to shoot wildlife I get at least 10 photos I really like with it... Agreed! I picked up an a7ii last year and while under perfect conditions it could produce beautiful images. It would get exponentially more frustrating to use as the subjects I was capturing would move. From the back focusing issues, to slow boot up times, and garbage battery life, I was starting to get annoyed with photography. Then I picked up the a7iv. Completely flipped my perspective, making me excited to go out shooting. 95% of the time I pushed the shutter, I knew I got the shot. The confidence alone was well worth the price tag of the a7iv.
      In terms of cost though, I think it’s about the max I would pay for a body. Bodies like the a1 being $6k or the r series cameras being an additional $1k+ should just be reserved to pros that have the business income to justify spending that much. Hobbyists don’t need to drop that kind of cash on equipment like that. And for people just getting into photography with a smaller budget, they need to stick with APSC bodies anyways.

    Yes, people always want the expensive camera like z8, a7IV,...but they dont see what they can do with some thing like Nikon d5600 or sony a6000 or even cheaper camera.
    I used Sony a73, canon R but the nikon d5600 still amazed me.

    One of the biggest mistakes I made when I purchased my first "real" camera was going for the best on the market. Mid 2018 I bought a A7R3 and I was not very good. I should've waited but thankfully I did get better with it. Now I'm just waiting for the R6 to release and I'll move on the the next model. I should've started with an A6500.

    if you don't have the ability to buy a gear, you can start yourself first at shooting using smartphone. although it has a limitation. but it's a good start practice.
    because in my experience, I've started first at learning photography using a smartphone then it took me 2 years before i get a camera.

    older dslrs incl. kit lens are sold for around $100. i bought and old sony milc for $100, m42 adapter is around $10 and vintage lenses are dirt cheap, not that the native kit lenses are that much more expensive either.

  • @EnnTomi1

    really depends on what the user is going for. a7 is not good for anything thats fast. but it is good enough for landscap studio portrait etc etc.
    the 2 main aspect that soak up money i found out thru out the years are low light capability, and sports capability.
    so a person better off going APSC format getting newer body, scarifies full frame, but at least get usable shots.

      a7 is nearly unusable today for portraits. It takes so much time to focus even on native glass. Catching any kind of movement will result in missfocus or blurry mess.
      completely agree with you. its better to buy good crop than trash full frame,esp knowing that FF lenses are almost 2 times expensive.

    I know this is not photography releated but it is relevant to the topic
    I bought a used 2005 sony hvr z1. It used to be top of the line since it was one of the first sony hd consumer camcorder. It still holds up today! The 1080i resolution is tv standard even now! The lens opens up to 1.8. And the zoom is also very nice as it has a motorized zoom ring and 2 zoom rockers. It even has expanded focus! It also has 2 xlr inputs.
    If you (like me) think the new professional camcorders are way too expensive, take a look in the used matket, you can get a very durable 1080i professional broadcast camera with interchangeable lenses (for example the jvc gy hd series) for under 300$ with the right models

    It is never the gear that makes a great photographer, it is one who conveys the story, who has the techniques, and knowledge. With very modest setups you can make some great images to share. Be conscious of your needs. Great lenses after you make the difference, a more modest body is last. Used is a fantastic way to go. With the exception of 1 camera which was an open box, all my cameras are used. Example is my Sony a7RII I got for $800.00, or my Canon 1DX a $6800.00 camera in the day, in excellent shape for $675.00! Lenses can be bought used too! Buy used, and save!
