Is the Maserati Levante S Q4 a good SUV?

Everybody makes SUVs and now it's Maserati's turn.
The Levante is Maserati's first SUV ever. It's available with either some boring Diesel-engines nobody really cares about or with 2 petrol engnines, a 3l twin-turbo V6 engine with 430hp or a 3.8l twin-turbo V8 engine that produces either 530hp (GTS) or 580hp (Trofeo).
This Maserati Levante S is equipped with the 430hp-V6-engine and performance is less than the hp figure might suggest. The reason: weight. The Levante S weighs a whopping 2375kg. With a mass like that, even 430hp struggle to impress. That said, performance is adequate and thanks to its Q4 all-wheel-drive system the car manages to handle well. It is however in no way a car that encourages spirited driving, though.
With its nicely furnished interior the Levante S feels more at home cruising along or on fast motorway driving. The interior even features silk by high-end fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna. However, with it leaning towards a sportier ride the car is not as comfortable as you would expect from a luxury SUV. Especially considering the Levante's debilitating weight, this setup makes no sense. It is too heavy and tall to be an engaging drive and at the same time it's to harsh to be a soothing luxury car.
It's this gap between what it is and what it tries to be that makes it hard to love the Levante. Being neither a sports car nor comfortable luxury car it just remains stuck in-between as a jack of all trades that excels at nothing.
