Thank you for this video! Everything about it was amazing! I also wasn't expecting that view towards the end mixed with such soothing music. It was beautiful to watch. Thanks again and safe travels!!
City so big over there USA I live in Australia ` Brisbane ` makes our city look like a country town. Lovely Video really in joy it. Love the sound of flaps coming down. I Subscriber. G`Day from Australia..
Thank you for watching and subscribing! It’s a really jam packed city when you think about it with it being right on Lake Michigan but it is beautiful. The 777 has classic sounds! G’day!
Living in Park Ridge, Illinois and watching the various aircraft take off and land at nearby O'Hare is fun. Always look for the various foreign carriers like Air France, Japan Airlines, British Airways and so many others.
One of THE most beautiful cities to fly into at night. I recall a flight I took from SFO to DTW as we flew over Chicago, clouds were lit from beneath that were surrounding the skyscrapers. I sat pressed against the window taking it all in.
it takes about 3 minutes from when you cross over the lake until you land by air....by car thas almost an hour with the traffic in chicago. great video.
I believe it is just an easy way to reposition the 777s back to Chicago for the start of a busy day but I can't complain! It looks like the 777s will be operating the red eye flight from LAX-ORD for the foreseeable future. Thanks for watching!
Great video! I'm glad you captured the remarkable deflection of the inboard flap. I flew the 72, 73, 75 & 76 but never had the seniority to hold the 77. Happy landings
Still that's an incredible list of legendary aircraft to have flown! The 777 has such unique characteristics including the noises that it makes. Thanks for watching!
For anyone who cares, that flap segment between the inboard and outboard flaps, the one that’s moving a lot while the aircraft is on short final, is called a “flaperon.” It functions as a flap when drooped with the main flaps but the deflections are designed to augment the roll control of the ailerons, particularly at slower airspeeds. If you watch carefully, you can see it deflect upward when the aileron out towards the wingtip, deflects up. The movement of the aileron is much more subtle than the movement of the flaperon.
@@TenMinuteTrips Great explanation. The flaperon is a good supplement to roll control. Like the spoilers, which aid in roll control way before the aileron reaches full deflection, the flaperon and roll control spoilers help even out the spanwise load on the wing resulting from roll commands. Smaller forces occurring all along the wingspan create less stress than a large force out at the tip.
They are? I've never heard of approaches (or takeoffs) being "intentionally designed to highlight" any city skyline, including Chicago. I thought it was mostly wind directions and speeds. This is news to me and to be honest, I'm quite skeptical.
i’m sorry but that view of the Chicago skyline was absolutely stunning! this approach was 11/10 absolutely beautiful/breathtaking
The best skyline in the world! Thanks for watching!
This is how its done. No music, no long dubstep intro, no massive captions, no narration - just exactly as the video title has said!
Much appreciated! Glad you enjoyed it - thanks for watching!
I still like spending a bit of time in the airport lounge before boarding
@@vuho2075 The United lounges at LAX & ORD are both phenomenal!
nice

Thank you for the kind words and thank you for watching! Those city views provide all the warm, fuzzy feelings.
Best feeling is when wheels touch down in your home town, this feels when I land at ORD from Sao Paulo!
Many happy returns home! Thanks for watching!

I’m jealous of the vantage point you have - always a treat to see those heavies!

Agreed! I do the exact same thing, it’s so mesmerizing. Thanks for watching!
I always love this approach. Immediately makes me think "I'm home!" Great video! 😁
I always have the same thoughts as well! Sweet home Chicago. Thanks for watching!
it takes about 3 minutes from when you cross over the lake until you land by air....by car thas almost an hour with the traffic in chicago. great video.
But you're also going at a speed of 180 MPH.
Better views from the air! Thanks for watching!
I ❤ Chicago!
its a good city!(i live there and theres ALOT of crims)
Compared to l, a, they are the same, it's gang realted @@William.Aviation69
Butter smooth landing!
Major butter! The pilot did a great job with that landing - one of the smoothest I've experienced.
Really nice. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful view and a great landing!
It never gets old! Thanks for watching!
Very nicely done! I like the music.
Thank you very much and thanks for watching!
This is beautiful! 🤩

Arriving in❤
The way the skyline glistens on the wing. 🤤
One of my favorite views! It’s a beautiful reflection!
Nice I've been on this flight before.
It’s a very popular route!
Nice view
Surprised to see UA flying B777s on the ORD-LAX route. Love it !

Amazing machines ! Never gets old!
Indeed they are! I love flying on the 777. Thanks for watching!
the view is so amazing ❤️
1000% agreed!
Awesome. Great video.
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Chicago is one of my favorite places to visit. I almost moved there but I'm not a big fan of snow and cold.
You still could! This winter wasn’t that bad, in fact, this was one of our most mild winters in recent history
It's absolute heaven during the summer but miserable during the winter! But still, a world class city!
@@kickitup Except for a nasty cold snap in January, ours was mild and quiet too, relatively speaking.
@@309Aviation Our summers are almost perfect, mostly 70s/80s and very comfortable humidity.
@@pacnwguy9056 I need to experience a Pacific NW summer sometime - they sound great! I’ve only been to Seattle during November.
Very nice video, keep it up! Subscribed 😀
Thank you very much!! 😃
My hometown!❤
A beautiful city!
The approaches to O’Hare and Midway are intentionally designed to highlight downtown Chicago.
I’m always sad when ATC decides to land planes on the west side. This is definitely one of the best approaches in the world.
Not because the winds?
@@alwaysguessing4571 It does have a lot to do with the wind direction and speed, especially with being over the lake.
They are? I've never heard of approaches (or takeoffs) being "intentionally designed to highlight" any city skyline, including Chicago. I thought it was mostly wind directions and speeds. This is news to me and to be honest, I'm quite skeptical.
IDK about that. Not every approach to either airport gives a view of downtown
That landing looked softer than the ones I experienced over there.
It was a butter landing! Major props to the flight crew.
Chicago resident here.....if you watch this too many times the city sends you a bill, just a heads up.
Ha! I might owe the city some $$ just for posting…
Nice video. Equipment used for recording ????
Thank you! iPhone 14 for the camera and I use a handheld stabilizing tripod as well. Makes filming the landings a lot easier.
Wow amazing!!! Gopro?
Thank you and thanks for watching! Shot on iPhone 14 with a handheld stabilizing tripod!
Greatest city to ever exist.
Edit: *I wish this was 4k!*
Absolutely! I’m looking into some new filming equipment that will have 4k so stay tuned!
Ok
When Boeing remembered how to build airplanes.
777-200? Isnt it a little bit outdated bruv??
They're well taken care of by United and as long as they're cared for - they provide an enjoyable flight experience!
Dated? Perhaps. But considered by many as Boeing's best, along with the 300ER.
How DIRTY those flaps are !
United could send it through the wash here and there!
