I used to hate KO because they always used to be direct copies of official figures, but with cut corners. Now though.. This Barricade and some other KOs are less money AND look better than the official ones. Very tempting. I might just have to become a cheeky KO pirate myself. P-)
Oh really? I thought the original was just hunched over, lol. Also they look similar in size, so is it really oversize? EDIT: I can see now that the arms do look different, and the shoulders look taller. Just hard to tell because the colors are so dark on the original.
No, this is a KO. Its identical to the Official; not an oversize at all. The head is also the same. The main difference is the paint. That being said, and owning the official, this looks tons better. Especially since my official one has a defect on the dicast torso piece that prevents a proper transformation. Pretty sad for an official Takara.
I just got one - it's quite heavy - It's "Based on" the original for sure. But as Ben points out there is some small improvements such as more metal and some springs and Ratchets the original doesn't have it also has tinted windows- which the Real Barricade car has.
The only minor issue I have is (one of which is an issue with the original mould) which is the hands could be better and the other is the hips might need the screws tightened they are very loose (just as some of the joints are in Ares Nitrogen). Perhaps the text could be clearer on the Punish and Enslave too (especially on the Drivers side rear panel).
If someone wanted to go even better than this one then they could I guess paint the wheelhubs a smoke metallic and put a very very dark metallic midnight blue paint on it (as Barricade is actually blue not black - but this doesn't show up well due to the lighting in the movies).
I would like a bigger Barricade one day - but I'm really pleased with this one and he looks marvellous with the Over size Nitro Zeus KO.
Ben is right to say that the car "Feels" very Human Alliance - that is a fair comparison.
He's well worth a buy and the Purple really makes him look so much more visually interesting and compares well to the Botcon Barricades Purple too.
Perhaps one day a premium version of his earlier and later Bodies can get made too.
I'd not say no to a completely different deco either - such as the Grey Security car deco or the Chinese cop car deco.
I'd go so far as to say he's one of the nicest "feeling" toys I've bought this year and He's something i'd show to people to show how nice Transforming robot toys can be.

I'm pretty sure the stand is for Barracide's weapon. I vaguely remember you talking about it in your review of the offical figure.
Yep that is what it's for - you can store the pinwheel on there or perhaps even keep in ton there and use it as a stability aid when posing him too.

I saw in another review stating that the tolarance on the shoulder joints are much tighter than official MPM. It will be nice if someone like reprolabel can make stickers of the Decepticons police insignia.

Picked this guy up. SUPER pleased. I really did not like the inaccurate blue paint on the body and inaccurate silver paint on the head. But this thing is awesome and the die cast is super hefty. He stands very well.
Thank goodness I didn't give in to buying the official MPM.

i actually got this and an official MPM bee last week and conpairing both i can say though barricade really looks good the cost cutting measures are somewhat prominent as some of tge pins used are made up of plastic and not metal and also in robot mode the back panel with the police lights doesn't snap like the original one
looks so good, i just wish there was some way to give his vehicle mode a decepticon insignia

My only issues with this figure is I think they missed an opportunity to give the KO barricade LED eyes headlights and siren siren lights or at least the eyes in Siren lights but honestly it's not a deal-breaker still a gorgeous figure that I definitely plan on getting.

Gonna have to see if I can still find me one of these to go against my Legendary Toys Bumblebee KO. Also gotta get the KOs of Ratchet, Jazz, Starscream, and another Optimus (my Legendary Toys Optimus blew up at the waist). And maybe Ironhide, if I can get that DNA Design upgrade kit.

I just got mine and it looks great but mine has a few tolerance issues the biggest being the arms mostly the left one for the life of me will not tab in the right one will usually stay but the if you look at it the wrong way it'll fall out

LS02 has "643" on front grill, MPM05 didnt have it, so I think LS02 is better, LS02 only minus 1 thing,, it has no decepticon logo,

When i transform this his knees hang out of the bottom and stop him rolling. Ive mucked about with him for hours but can't get them to sit higher. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I'm sure glad third party companies are making affordable, improved versions. I already got a Barricade without a box for $50 on eBay so will pass on this guy. I'm happy with my MPM Bee and Barricade but just ordered LT-02 because I wanted an improved Oprimus. I have Nitrogen Ares and am looking forward to more OS KO of movie toys to display with the MPMs!

Yes it is. But any problems the orignal had such as QC issues or lack of paint is usually fixed with KO's these days.

Hi Ben.. i want ask how about bootleg version of MPM-5. I see on online store there's bootleg MPM-5 Barricade. What's the differences with the original hasbro takara? And which one value or best to buy between Bootleg MPM-5 or LS03 Bottleneck? Because I see MPM-5 Takara is so expensive. I prefer logic price hohoho..

Honestly, considering this is the smame mold with purple paint, ill stick with official MPM 5. The blue is more accurate (to my knowledge at least) and just looks better.

The only bay designs I like are barricade, blackout, shockwave, jazz, soundwave and prime(first movie body and tlk head). wish I could get a last knight head with l.e.d.s to go with the black mamba os mmp body. I really dig this version of barricade but prefer the paint apps/colors on the takara versions face/head and roll bar/grill. I can always just apply some testers dull coat on the bar so no big deal, especially at such a low price point. Oh and the Windows need tinting. Wish they oversized it a bit to go with their os mpm prime.

Seeing both side by side i prefer the original. The purple is TOO shiny and for me it breaks the aesthetic of the figure. A darker purple would been so much better

The Lyle Sports Channel its a point on the road where traffic slows down for sone reason only to speed up again when vehicles pass it. Like say cars slowing down to look at an accident or to get off a popular exit of a freeway

With the amazing work black Mamba did for aoe hound, evasion oversize prime, I'm disappointed in this barricade. The doors should have been re engineered to hang off his upper arms as the mpm is not show accurate having them bend with the elbows. His figures are never a repaint until this one.
Wasn't AoE hound and Evasion Prime done by Wei Jiang? Black Mamba are the guys who did oversized Nitro Zeus.

Again, this is the only reason why people should stop buying MP when they come out. The 3rd Parties do better jobs than the official ones. Remember how awful was MP Movie Prime and LT make him glorious. And it's more cheaper than the official one. This Barricade makes look the official like a bootleg. If you want a MP, wait for the 3rd Party version.

Nosrep Suomynona 3rd Party would make their own official MP like Springer, Galvatron, COSMOS, etc. The 3rd Party don't need the official ones.

Ender Tron yes 3rd party companies engineer their own figures which is why their combiners cost up to about $600 but your example is the MPM Prime and how the LT version fixes its flaws, the LT Prime is a knock-off of the original Prime not an original mold.
