As we welcome back the L Taraval rail service tomorrow (September 28th, 2024), MUNI staff and operators are making sure that they are well trained and equipped before the big day. In fact, they have been putting some extra trains and the two shuttle trains from the subway to run on Taraval as not in service trains. These trains have a headsign "Coming Soon" with a LRV symbol at the letter slot.
Here is a rare catch with a one-car train in testing, being operated by a few supervisors. This is not part of the regular operator mock training, but rather a train from the yard to make sure switchbacks are smooth. As you can see, this train went into the Taraval siding between the beach and 46th Ave, along with testing the two curves. Before the L got extended to SF Zoo, this was a usual switchback for trains!
