- We hit @energypowersports and Jean Luc goes over the differences between the Spyder F3-S and the Ryker line of 3 Wheel BRP Can Am On Road Vehicles.
I think the Ryker is like a Ford Mustang - Powerful, Compact and a little wild. The F3-S would be like a Chevy Corvette - Refined, Comfort and seat of the pants power!

Hello, how do you get the cell phone on the Spyder?
This was a super temporary fix. I had an 8 pack of bungee cords from Dollarama in my bag. These are small black elastic cords with a 1" plastic ball looped in. I used 2 to wrap around the handlebar clamp. Its a very temporary solution but be careful on permanent mounts as vibrations from the vehicle may damage some phone focus systems on iphones (had it happen). I think the best solution I have seen is the Quad lock: amzn.to/3zETMhm and the anti vibration Mount: amzn.to/3NX6yML get these both for peace of mind
Try lamonster garage, quad lock and rokform..I use a rokform on my f3s

I used Quad Lock on a Ryker Rally. I think its the best

I dont use gopro as they are known for problems. Get yourself one of these, and put the mount on the chin of your helmet if you can, or on this helmet I had the camera on the left side closest to the chin I could get and not affect the visor. amzn.to/3yx0dF0

I have the 2021 F-3S. I love it, big power. Knew I wanted it over the Ryker. I like the driveshaft on the Ryker. Had a Valkyrie shaft drive. It was a beast too. Miss my Valk but love my Spyder.
The f3-s is a great ryde for sport touring.

Oh really! thats funny right there!!!! I looked it up out of curiousity and it looks like the Front Sprocket on the 2019 models are the recall. Nice to see BRP staying on top of these things and updating them!

Now I want one. I drove the basic model. The one with the reverse foot mechanism I can’t reach. This has reverse on the handle bar💗. Plus, this seems much faster. Great video!
yeah this one really rips! i found the reverse on the foot awkward as well - was easier to reach down and pop it by hand. Test ride an F3S and you will be sold
@@mudbrats I have a bad hip and I can barely get on his harley. Even if I roll to one side my short legs can’t reach this reverse pedal on reikers.The only thing I can find here is the reiker or R rally. If I find the spyder f3 , I will. Your video is very helpful
Nice rip, the F3S is my preference, just a different color. But most likely I'll go with a Rally for some dirt road bombing. One day though there will be an F3S in the stable. God bless, Rob

Awesome video,l used to ride a Harley, l loved it but with my age,71 and not being all that strong anymore, I started having a fear of riding it, l went to a used 2020 ryker rally, it was a big mistake,got two vss fault codes, limp. mode home crap,, l only had it 4 months and then went to a 2023 spyder f3, l am absolutely in love with him,, his name is the beast, ride safe,have fun.. spyderlady
right on! interesting perspective me on the Rally - seems they are hit and miss with issues
yeah it sucked with the ryker, l bought it from a harley davidson dealer, no warrenty, but it only had 450 miles on it,I only had it three weeks when the first vss fault code showed up, cost me almost 700 to fix it,plus it had two safety recalls, those were free,whoopie, the can am dealer did the work. when it happened a 2nd time, they said let's get you into something else. l was like I've only made 4 payments. but they got me approved for the 2023 spyder f3. My beast has a two year 100% warranty front to rear with roadside assistance,I also got the extended warranty with a 50 dollar deductible. so, in total, I have an 8 year warranty on him👍😊
I just bought a 2022 Sea to Sky from this dealer. My retirement gift to me. Looking forward to putting miles on it this season.

Great video. Too bad there was so much highway traffic. Have Jean Luc explain to you the proper way to up-shift a Spyder. Better to not let off on the throttle as if shifting a manual shift motorcycle. Just hit the paddle shifter lever and keep the throttle in the same position at that point. The computer will momentarily "blip" the engine rpm's down just as it momentarily "blipped" the engine rpm's up when downshifting by you or the computer. Smoother shifting that way.

I ended up getting a base F3 so i can slowly do the upgrades i want

Just purchased one today and made it 12 miles before it overheated... Not a happy camper. Its now sitting with the dealer until Tuesday (at the soonest). Hope its something easy but we spent 4 hours at the dealer and 3 hours on the side of the road waiting for it to be picked up. Other than being stranded in the first 12-14 miles, it looks great.

Great video let me ask you how's the passing power on the Can-Am when you're going roughly about 65 70 does it struggle? I'm just curious based on where I live. On the New Jersey Turnpike a lot
It has lots of torque above 60moh. No probs passing as you can see at the end

Did you ever get out of fourth gear? it’s got 6. I pop mine into 6 at 100 kms/h. Still nice torque at 3000 revs

@mudbrats Personally I think both color schemes suck (the cheap black plastic or the mountain dew yellow) but the "green" is growing on me. Very deceptive of BRP to shade the green online totally different than the actual "oops too many B vitamins in my pee yellow". Also why the hell did BRP put led lights in the fenders but not use actual LEDs in the headlights. Another bad decision. However I really miss my 2015 F3S and want the digital dash so I'm looking for 2019 and newer and since there are some great deals on leftover 2022's I'm leaning towards the yellow one. Any thoughts ? Yes I will immediately upgrade to led headlights since BRP is too cheap to install at the factory.
The led headlight thing is a mystery for sure. Go to Motojungle.ca and you can get a great kit for the spyder there.
Damn that's nice.. since it has 3 wheels is it still considered a motorcycle and do you need a motorcycle license to buy one
In canada its considered a motorcycle. A motorcycle M license allows you to drive a 2 wheel or 3 wheel (spyder) or you can just go for a Modified Motorcycle license which only allows you to ride a 3 wheeled vehicle. In 2023 Ontario launched a pilot program that allows you to operate a Spyder with just a class G Drivers License
I'm like 2.5 hrs west of there, my local dealership got 6 22's in, ALL missing the park break module and reverse module, been waiting for 6 weeks now a no timeline when the parts will be in.. I'm going to wait until the end of June and if nothing done, I'm going to Rockys in London to check out a freewheeler
Sadly it’s a common story no matter what brand powersports flag you fly.... anything with electronic modules aka microchips are affected - snowmobiles, atvs, watercraft/boats, motorcycles.... our world is fakkked and it seems same story with brp, Yamaha (they are really bad) Honda etc.... you are right, the dealers don’t have timelines but one thing I can say from my sled experience, is brp came through on the 22 skidoo’s and delivered every single unit ordered. I know people still waiting for 2022 Yamaha sidewinders
@@mudbrats ya I know it's NOT the dealership, if they had their way, they'd get more units and complete.. if I had something to ride it wouldn't bother me as much. But I don't so it's driving me nuts 🤣 there's a place outside Montreal that has 3 DCT Goldwing trikes ready to go now, they're WAY more money, but I emailed them to see if they would ship to my house or another honda dealer (15mins from my house) just frustrating because our riding season is SO short

The Ryker 600 would be the 4 cylinder turbo Pony Mustang, the Ryker 900 is still a Pony Mustang only with a V6 engine. The Spyder F-3 would be the BIG DADDY V8 MUSTANG BABY!

Which do you prefer after testing them both, the spyder or the Ryker.
I think the answer is 2-fold..... I prefer the ryker for the short quick trips and back road exploring, and the spyder is a road trip MACHINE. As I mentioned in the video, the ryker is more suited to my style of riding. If you do the short tours and back road unknown conditions ryker is perfect. If it’s highway touring and longer days in the saddle, the F3 is a winner
@@mudbrats thanks for your take, I like them both but think the Ryker is sleeker in style, just wish it had some of the things the spyder had like EPS, and upgraded display on the rally. And a shifting option that allows you to shift if you want or don’t if you don’t want too, spyder should have that as well, give the riders the option for either or.
@@Cinccinatti_C3 actually i liked the steering on the ryker better. The F3S felt way too light in steering and throttle. I prefer more road feel. the display is a big thing, but u can run an iphone mount with BRP Go app running and you are in the same guage size etc as the F3 - plus an iphone will let you run Waze or Google Maps where the F3 integrated spyder display will only run Rever or Genius Maps by paid subscription. So theres an advantage of running a secondary GPS or a phone mount. the only caveat with iphone mount is to watch for overheating
@@mudbrats thanks for the info. I was going to go with the sport but from a cost stand point if you add new Elka shocks all the way around you are over the price of a rally. Not to mention, the comfort seat and upgraded accessories you get on the rally build out of the box. Yeah the shocks arent the best but they are adjustable. I bet you can send the shocks to shock therapy and get them re-valved and tuned for a descent price. What do you think of the ride comfort between the quick adjustable shocks and the comfort seating on the rally vs the sports ride. Not even sure if you’ve ridden a stock sport with the rear quick adjustment, just thought I’d ask.

@@mudbrats you do understand I think these high RPMs are not a good thing ? I had a 2012 rt and 2007 spider and they both rev too high and seem under powered -. Sticking to Goldwings .

Do I need a bike license to drive it?
yes you need a bike license (M covers 2 wheel and 3 wheel motorcycles) or theres a modified license for spyders if you only want to ride 3 wheels
I had the opportunity to ride a Ryker, but I never drove a Spyder,
and all my attention is focus on the drive shaft, as my personal experience with different motorcycles, from Yamaha to Hondas with shaft, I love it periodo, what also I like that very much on the Ryker.

All this "pauuau" to ask, why they didn't use the shaft in the Syper???
I had the opportunity to drive bikes like Goldwing, Vmax, big bikes where they use shaft, and there's a huge number of good reasons for shaft, and I definitely would like to own one, but rubber belt it's not an option, I simply don't understand how they built the Ryker with a driven shaft and the Spyder with a belt, I don't getter, I think its very poor for a top of Canam Spyper.

rykker came after the spyder F3. I wish my 2017 daytona F3 was shaft driven because of less maintenance. My Rocket 3 and VMAX are shaft drive and love the easy oil changes.
Heard it only get like 30 mpg? Doesn’t seem like it’s that good. I thought it would be much more.
I’ll let an owner comment on here, i think if you drive it like a race car, mileage drops bad. If I can get an accurate fuel estimate I’ll post it here if no one else responds

I've gotten up to 35.1 on mine, but most of the time it's 25 to 27.

If your buying it for the gas mileage then your buying it for the wrong reasons. I got 35 pulling a trailer on vacation. Most of the time I ride it like I stole it and you will to. The F3 is the most fun I've had on a bike since I was a teen.
Let's address a not quite so obvious elephant in the room. In the motorsports world, while costing the least , the Rykers nailed it with toolless adjustable bars and foot positions. Can you imagine buying a car or truck w/o adjustable seats??? The rest of the models delete this important feature and tell you it's better??? Oh wait, that's right you get to charge for fitting the bike to one rider. There's another advantage to toolless adjustment folks need to remember. While out on a trip, with the Rykers you can change to a natural aggressive setup (like the mountains?) and back to a laid back cruiser position w/o contorting you body in 60 seconds. In the same vein, you can easily change the standard motorcycle style handlebar to even more cruiser like posture allowing the body to relax while chewing up miles while still retaining quick adjustability. Can-Am, wakeup, this ain't rocket science! You actually already have a model you can copy and tweak for the Spyders

So the F3S is just a 2up nothing else different about it?
The rear sprocket is bigger than the other f3 models and it comes with cruise control and fox shocks in the front instead of regular basic shocks

the 2up seat is optional as well. Most guys run the color matched cowl over the back for a more sporty look without a passenger

its true - you really should take a test drive. I think if you are a sport bike rider, it wouldnt be your thing. but as a snowmobiler and with little street riding experience, i think they are fun little vehicles. BRP prides themselves in doing things different, and the spyder is exactly on point for that company. pop into a dealer like energypowersports, they do test rides every day, any model
